NICKELODEON SIGNS BRITISH POP CULTURE ICON MR BLOBBY TO OVERALL TALENT DEAL
New Partnership Will See Nickelodeon Introduce Mr Blobby to Audiences Around the World
BURBANK, Calif.--April 1, 2026--Nickelodeon is set to introduce Mr Blobby to viewers worldwide as the number-one brand for kids and families announces today that it has signed the British comedy icon to an overall talent deal. Under the arrangement, Nickelodeon will have the opportunity to work with Mr Blobby on a multi-platform basis including in consumer products, original programming, social media, live events and music.
Mr Blobby was first introduced to audiences in Britain in 1992 as part of the BBC's Noel's House Party, soon becoming a legend in his own right. As Blobbyfever swept the nation, the pink-with-yellow-spotted character climbed the charts with his self-titled 1993 single, which was crowned the prestigious title of Christmas No. 1 in the UK Singles Chart that year. As Blobbyfever continued, the beloved character launched his own line of consumer products, spanning VHS releases, video games, egg cups, beverages and more, and even opened his own theme parks. The character has since become a TV staple in the U.K., appearing in cameos on TV programs such as Harry Hill's TV Burp, Dead Ringers, Get Your Own Back with Dave Benson Phillips, Dick and Dom in da Bungalow, and Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway. He also appeared on The Last Leg, where he was declared as leader of "The 90s Party", a political party formed by the show's hosts.
As part of his comprehensive partnership with Nickelodeon, Mr Blobby will star in a raft on shortform and longform content for Nickelodeon's linear and digital channels. The first two projects announced under the partnership are: Blobbyvision, a hidden-camera prank show in production at Paramount Television Studios in which the titular character will prank celebrities and members of the public in truly bizarre ways that only Mr. Blobby can; and The Adventures of Mr Blobby, a 2D-animated preschool series produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studios that will also introduce viewers to his family - his wife, Mrs Blobby, and son, Baby Blobby - as they have daily adventures around Crinkley Bottom. A short-form game show, Gunge Attack (w/t), is also currently in development at Nickelodeon Digital Studio, which will see Mr Blobby immerse contestants in slime. All programming will be distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution, and will air on Nickelodeon channels globally.
Nickelodeon is also in development of an exclusive line of consumer products inspired by the popular character, and the network is in the process of securing major merchandising and promotional partners in a broad range of categories including apparel, home furnishings, toys, accessories, publishing and more.
Commenting on the partnership from his home of Dunblobbin, Mr Blobby said: "Blobby blobby, blobby. Blobbity blob blobby blobby-blobby. Blobby!"
