Netflix has announced that it will premiere Avatar: The Last Airbender season three, the third and final season of the streaming service's hit live-action reimagining of the beloved Nickelodeon animated series, in 2027! To celebrate, the streamer unveiled a first look still from the new season, featuring Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai in an imposing stance ahead of key events such as Aang mastering firebending and the arrival of Sozin’s Comet.
Filmed back-to-back with season two, Avatar: The Last Airbender season three is set to welcome back cast members Gordon Cormier as Avatar Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko, Miya Cech as Toph Beifong, Elizabeth Yu as Princess Azula, Momona Tamada as Ty Lee, and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Uncle Iroh, with Maria Zhang as Suki and Daniel Dae Kim as Ozai.
New cast members for the third and final season will also include Jon Jon Briones (Ratched, Hadestown, The Last Voyage of the Demeter) as Piandao and Tantoo Cardinal (Dances with Wolves, Legends of the Fall, Killers of the Flower Moon) as Hama.
AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER follows Aang, the young Avatar, as he learns to master the four elements (Water, Earth, Fire, Air) to restore balance to a world threatened by the terrifying Fire Nation. In S2, after a bittersweet victory saving the Northern Water Tribe from the invading Fire Nation, Avatar Aang, Katara and Sokka regroup and set off on a mission to convince the elusive Earth King to aid in their battle against fearsome Fire Lord Ozai.
AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER is a live-action reimagining of the award-winning and beloved Nickelodeon animated series. Christine Boylan (Poker Face, Once Upon a Time) serves as executive producer and writer. Jabbar Raisani (Lost in Space, Stranger Things) is executive producer and director, alongside directors Anu Menon, Amit Gupta and Hiromi Kamata. Dan Lin and Ryan Halprin serve as executive producers from Rideback. Additional executive producers include Brendan Ferguson and Albert Kim.
