SpongeBob on Broadway | Previews Opening Night | Vincent Waller

Vincent Waller, the Creative Director on Nickelodeon's hit original animated series SpongeBob SquarePants, has unveiled a Sponge-Tastic video on his official YouTube channel from the first night of previews of SpongeBob SquarePants, The Broadway Musical in New York!



Hold on to your Conches!! It begins!!!

Bikini Bottom is coming to Broadway in Nickelodeon's brand-new SpongeBob SquarePants musical!

SpongeBob SquarePants places the characters of the hit Nickelodeon cartoon series in an original story set in Bikini Bottom, where the stakes are higher than ever before, as SpongeBob and all of Bikini Bottom face the total annihilation of their undersea world! Chaos erupts. Lives hang in the balance. And just when all hope seems lost, a most unexpected hero rises up and takes center stage!

The show features a book by Kyle Jarrow and a score arranged by Tom Kitt, featuring original songs from a plethora of recording artists, including Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Sara Bareilles, Panic! At the Disco, and the late David Bowie.

Reprising their roles from the musical’s 2016 world premiere in Chicago are Ethan Slater as SpongeBob, Gavin Lee as Squidward Q. Tentacles, Lilli Cooper as Sandy Cheeks, and Danny Skinner as Patrick Star. They will be joined by stage and TV favorite Wesley Taylor as the maniacal-yet-microscopic Sheldon Plankton and Brian Ray Norris in his Broadway debut as Krusty Krab owner Eugene Krabs.

Rounding out the cast are ensemble members Gaelen Gilliland, Juliane Godfrey, Kyle Matthew Hamilton, Curtis Holbrook, Stephanie Hsu, Jesse JP Johnson, L’ogan J’ones, Jai’len Josey, Kelvin Moon Loh, Lauralyn McClelland, Vasthy Mompoint, Oneika Phillips, Jon Rua, JC Schuster, Abby C. Smith, Robert Taylor Jr., Allan Washington, Brynn Williams, and Matt Wood.

Acclaimed Steppenwolf director Tina Landau and the groundbreaking designers behind Fun Home, Hedwig, and Spring Awakening have brilliantly reimagined Bikini Bottom for the Broadway stage, bringing the spirit of SpongeBob to life with humanity, heart, and pure theatricality. With an original score from some of the biggest names in pop and rock, SpongeBob SquarePants explodes with energy.

SpongeBob SquarePants will begin Broadway previews Monday, November 6th at the Palace Theatre on New York City's prestigious Broadway, before officially opening on Monday, December 4th.

Nickelodeon Israel Commissions "The Hood" Season 3

Nickelodeon Israel has ordered a third installment of the popular daily live-action teen drama series The Hood from Ananey Communications’ Nutz Productions!

The Hood centers on a motherless family trying to make ends meet while living in low-income housing in the middle of one of the country’s richest districts. The series follows Ben, a widower with five kids who lives in "The Hood". Ben struggles to support his family with a series of failed businesses. The Hood combines this dramatic story line with comedy as Ben's kids prank the snobbish teens living in the district. The series is locally titled שכונה.

The show recently finished airing its sophomore season on HOT in Israel. Its first installment was broadcast on Nickelodeon Israel two years ago.

The Hood was also snapped up by RTP in Portugal, where the original version debuted with subtitles late last year. The series was created by Israeli writer Giora Chamizer, who is also the creator and showrunner of The Greenhouse, a Nickelodeon series that Netflix is currently adapting for a worldwide audience. Entitled Greenhouse Academy, the series is being produced by Nutz productions, and is first Israeli original commissioned by the streaming service.

Nickelodeon Israel To Premiere "The Hood" Season Two

Nickelodeon Israel has scheduled the premiere of the sophomore season of The Hood, a live-action drama for kids and teens, for this year as shooting wraps on the latest run!

Created by Israeli writer Giora Chamizer (The Greenhouse) and produced by Nutz Productions, the first season of The Hood aired last year on Nickelodeon Israel. The series follows Ben, a widower with five kids who lives in "The Hood" in the middle of one of the richest districts in the country. Ben struggles to support his family with a series of failed businesses. The Hood combines this dramatic story line with comedy as Ben's kids prank the snobbish teens living in the district. The series is locally titled שכונה.

The 50-episode second season will broadcast daily on Nickelodeon Israel, exclusively for HOT. The show became a hit on the Israeli cable network HOT, and the series was the most successful launch yet on HOT VOD Young.
