Rabin: The Last Hours | Giora Chamizer's Film | TeenNick Israel
To mark the 25th anniversary of Yitzhak Rabin's assassination, Giora Chamizer, creator of Nickelodeon series such as The Greenhouse (החממה/Ha-Hamama) and Sky (סקיי), has created the film that will be used by volunteers to guide groups of students at a monument at the foot of the municipality. Rabin was an Israeli politician, statesman and general who served as the fifth Prime Minister of Israel until he was killed on November 5, 1995.

TeenNick Israel Premieres 'Sky'
TeenNick Israel to premiere Sky, a new adventure tween drama series by the creator of Greenhouse Academy

Noa Pnini is a screenwriter and actor. In recent years Pnini has collaborated with Giora Chamizter on various TV projects, among them The Hood, The Greenhouse, House Arrest and Foxes.
Nutz Productions is the subsidiary production arm of Ananey Communications Group. Following acquiring a minority stake in the company in December 2016, ViacomCBS Networks International (VCNI) fully acquired the content producer and pay-TV provider in April 2020.
Ananey also manages and operates under license local versions of VCNI’s flagship pay-TV brands, including Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., TeenNick, MTV, and Comedy Central, as well as representing an additional seven VCNI channels for affiliate sales in Israel.

Sky (2 seasons, 20x22’) tells the story of a smart and assertive alien girl with the same name, whose spaceship accidentally crashes in a small town on earth. The series was announced in January 2020.
Giora Chamizer is responsible for some of the most successful young-adult TV Dramas in Israel. He has created and written several hit teen dramas, among them the popular show Hahamama (The Greenhouse). The series, produced by Nutz Productions and aired on Nickelodeon Israel, was voted best teen show by the Israeli Academy of Film and Television. Netflix later remade it under the title The Greenhouse Academy, with Chamizer acting as the series' showrunner and Nutz Productions producing all seasons in Israel. The American adaptation was launched successfully in over 190 countries, and a third season aired in October this year. Season 4 is set to launch in 2020. Chamizer is also responsible for The Hood, which debuted on Nickelodeon in Israel and has also been sold to the Portuguese RTP2 channel, which premiered the series in 2016 under the title O Bairro.

'Sky': The new Israeli sci-fi series in the spirit of 'Stranger Things'
The series, which the whole family can watch together, is an inventive mix of sci-fi, adventure, suspense, teen romance and revenge-of-the-nerds comedy.
Sky, the latest Israeli tween show, has just been released on the Teen Nick channels on Hot and Yes, where it runs every weekday at 3:30 p.m. It’s also available on the Israeli Nickelodeon website and YouTube channels.
The series, which the whole family can watch together, is an inventive mix of sci-fi, adventure, suspense, teen romance and revenge-of-the-nerds comedy, very much in the spirit of such shows as Netflix’s Stranger Things. It was created by Noa Pnini (The Neighborhood) and Giora Chamizer, who made both the Netflix series Greenhouse Academy and the Israeli show Ha-Hamama, on which Greenhouse was based. Sky was produced by Ananey Communications for TeenNick Israel. Osnat Saraga, Ananey’s senior vice president of development and productions, oversaw the development of the show, and Sky’s creators are hoping it will be the next Israeli show sold to international television or streaming, either in its Hebrew version or in remakes in other languages – or both.
Sky tells the story of an assertive alien girl who crash lands in a small Israeli town. Until she can figure out how to get home, she hides in plain sight with the support of several nerdy friends by morphing into the most popular girl in school, Mili (Ravid Ronen), a classic mean girl who is traveling to Alaska with her family. Sky, also played by Ronen, who identifies with the Earthling nerds, pretends that Mili has stayed behind and has to act as if she’s in love with Mili’s jock boyfriend. Meanwhile, one of the nerds falls for Sky in her alien guise, and has to hide his feelings in public when she is pretending to be Mili.
If Sky makes you think a version of E.T. if the beloved alien from Steven Spielberg’s classic were to go to high school, you’re right on the money, because this is just what Pnini and Chamizer had in mind.
“It’s an homage to E.T.,” said Chamizer, who spoke alongside Pnini in a Zoom interview. “We initially had the idea 10 years ago about an alien that enters the body of a teen girl and Noa and I started to work on it.... Every viewer over 40 will know the E.T. reference.”
IT’S IMPORTANT to this duo to create a series that is entertaining for the whole family so they can watch together.
“What we loved in E.T. is the message it gives, of love and hope across every boundary,” he said.
The twist with Sky is that the series uses the alien taking refuge in an Earth teen’s body as a metaphor for how adolescence affects teenagers and tweens.
“Teens feel like aliens when they are going through adolescence,” said Pnini. “Your body feels weird, it changes. You feel like you don’t fit in... and all the emotions you experience also make you feel alienated. You feel like no one understands you, just like Sky is terrified of the humans at first and feels they won’t understand her.”
Chamizer added, “And it’s interesting to see how the alien fits into a world where she has to pretend to be a bitch. Adolescence is a time where you try out different personas, you try to fit in in different ways.”
Pnini and Chamizer acknowledged that adults are more likely to respond to this subtext about the nature of adolescence but said they hoped younger viewers would simply identify with the characters.
But just as filming was starting, an issue arose that seemed almost like science fiction itself: the pandemic.
“The coronavirus helped us and hurt us,” said Pnini. They had just started filming in March 2020 and had to stop work during some of the shutdowns, prolonging the schedule. This gave the actors more time to bond and get into their roles.
“They really became a close group,” said Chamizer. “They’re not just acting it.”
In addition to Ronen in the challenging dual roles of Sky and Mili, the cast includes Shahar Tavoch, who was the breakout star of Valley of Tears last year, Ido Tako, Maayan Rahima, Ofek Pesach, Dolev Sela, Bar Miniely, Daniel Gad and Dana Fried.
For Ronen in particular, the series was a welcome opportunity “to go really deeply into her characters. She worked very hard to get them both right,” said Chamizer.
“There is definitely a theme of girl’s empowerment in the show,” said Pnini. But, referencing the trio of adolescent nerds, she noted, “It’s also a show about boys, about all adolescents and staying true to yourself through that crazy time.”

Nickelodeon UK to Make Channel Changes to the Sky EPG on Tuesday 10th November 2020
Nickelodeon UK is doing some channel surfing on the Sky EPG this November in order to have all their main channels next to each other. On Tuesday 10th November 2020:
- Nickelodeon +1, currently on channel number 605, will move down to channel 620
- Nicktoons, currently on 606, will move up one place to 605
- Nick Jr., currently on 615, moves up to 606
- and Nick Jr. Too, currently on 620, will move up to channel number 615.
Nickelodeon (604) and Nick Jr. +1 628 will remain unaffected by the changes. If you're a Nickelodeon HD subscriber, the SD versions Nickelodeon (642) and Nick Jr. (648) will also remain unaffected.

Sky launches Learning From Home collections on Sky Kids
Sky has made some educational collections available on Sky Kids, with the aim of helping families who will be spending more time together at home in the coming weeks and supporting their little ones during school closures. The Learning From Home collections are now available to Sky Kids’ customers in three key curriculum stages as follows:
Foundation: Early Years – under 5s
Featured content includes Numberblocks which focuses on numeracy, Labuntina for educational songs, alongside shows such as Ryan’s Mystery Playdate, Rusty Rivets and Octonauts.
Key Stage 1 – 5-7 year-olds
Featured content includes natural history and science programming such as Ocean Rescue: Dive In & Do It and Maddie’s Do You Know? alongside dance tutorials from Kidz Bop and Sky Sports’ Kids Fit in 5.
Key Stage 2 – 8-11 year-olds
Featured content includes current affairs and factual shows such as Braydon Meets plus Horrible Histories and Operation Ouch. A special episode of weekly news show FYI focusing on Coronavirus will be available from 28 March.
Alongside this Sky Kids also has new shows for kids like The Adventures of Paddington from Nick Jr and DreamWorks Animation’s Where’s Wally?. This Easter Sky Kids will launch all-new episodes of Moominvalley, plus a new Sky original, Bad Nature that brings disgusting animal facts to life with comedy.
As well as these new collections, Sky Kids also has 11 kids’ channels and 5000 episodes of on demand content for under 12s including Mr Bean, Peppa Pig, Henry Danger and Morph. Sky Kids’ customers can also download our Kids app which has all of this plus an interactive art studio – so the little ones can get creative – and over 80 games including learning games such as Phonics, Coding, Maths and quizzes to make Learning From Home easy.

Filming on Sky (2 seasons, 20x22’ – Nutz Productions), a new adventure drama from the creator and producers of Nickelodeon Israel's The Greenhouse and Netflix's Greenhouse Academy – Giora Chamizer and Nutz Productions – together with writer Noa Pnini, will begin in February 2020 on various locations sites all over Israel.
Sky tells the story of a smart and assertive alien girl with the same name, whose spaceship accidentally crashes in a small town on earth. While waiting to be rescued, she hides by transforming herself into the body of the most popular girl in high school. With only three goofy friends to help her out, Sky must survive two weeks on earth without being discovered. Alongside the suspenseful dramatic plot, the general air of the show is whimsical and funny.
Sky is set to air on TeenNick Israel, the Nickelodeon-branded tweens-and-teens channel that launched in 2017, via the Hot Cable Network and Yes Satellite network. A premiere date has yet to be announced.
Giora Chamizer is responsible for some of the most successful young-adult TV Dramas in Israel. He has created and written several hit teen dramas, among them the popular show Hahamama (The Greenhouse). The series, produced by Nutz Productions and aired on Nickelodeon Israel, was voted best teen show by the Israeli Academy of Film and Television. Netflix later remade it under the title The Greenhouse Academy, with Chamizer acting as the series' showrunner and Nutz Productions producing all seasons in Israel. The American adaptation was launched successfully in over 190 countries, and a third season aired in October this year. Season 4 is set to launch in 2020. Chamizer is also responsible for The Hood, which debuted on Nickelodeon in Israel and has also been sold to the Portuguese RTP2 channel, which premiered the series in 2016 under the title O Bairro.
Noa Pnini is a screenwriter and actor. In recent years Pnini has collaborated with Giora Chamizter on various TV projects, among them The Hood, The Greenhouse, House Arrest and Foxes.

Little do they know that their three kids – Daniel (16), Nikki (15) and Tommy (12) – have discovered their secret occupation and have formed a task force of their own, named Spyders.
Nickelodeon has ordered 40 x 22-minute episodes, which will be distributed to Nickelodeon's international audiences spanning 170+ countries and territories via the brand’s more than 100 channels and branded blocks in 2020.

How the creator of Greenhouse Academy is building binge-worthy kids TV
The man behind several popular Hebrew-language tween adventure shows, and Netflix's Greenhouse Academy, explains why his new series Sky will engage eight to 14s globally.
The creator of Netflix’s tween drama series Greenhouse Academy, and several popular Hebrew-language series, Giora Chamizer, is aiming to grow his reach with another internationally successful show.
Using his formula of blending dense stories, twists, cliffhangers and complex themes—which has helped him to create popular series on low-budgets, retain viewers and catch the eye of global SVODs—Chamizer is readying another project for Israeli viewers, with his sights set on reaching worldwide audiences again. Sky, a tween-skewing live-action series, produced by Ananey Communications-owned Nutz Productions, is gearing up shoot the show across Israel, starting in February.
Chamizer is writing the new series with Noa Pnini (The Neighborhood), and the Israeli prodco is making two seasons (totalling 40 x 22 minutes). The adventure drama will air on Teen Nick Israel later this year, and orbits around an alien named Sky whose spaceship crashes in a small town on earth. Besides the popular Greenhouse Academy, which Chamizer created (a fourth season has commissioned by Netflix to air later this year), he has also has a handful of tween-skewing live-action series, including The Island (150 episodes on Israel’s Children Channel), The Eight (150 episodes on Children Channel) and Neighborhood (150 episodes aired on Nickelodeon Israel, and was picked up by Portuguese channel RTP2 and aired as O Bairro).
His shows have often tackled complex topics such as family relationships and LGBTQ identity, but at each show’s core, the theme follows a family falling apart, which gives series global appeal, he says.
Take, for example, Greenhouse Academy on Netflix. Based on the original Hebrew-language The Greenhouse, the series follows the day-to-day drama at a school for gifted youth. After their mother dies, a pair of siblings are put in rival groups at the school and must learn to cope.
The original ran for four seasons exclusively on Nick Israel. It won the Ophir Award (Israeli Emmys) for best teen drama three years in a row, and in 2013 Nick UK picked up an English-dubbed version of the series. More recently, Netflix commissioned Nutz to remake the series titled Greenhouse Academy, which Chamizer adapted for international audiences as showrunner and head writer alongside Paula Yoo (Supergirl). In 2018, the global SVOD later ordered a third and fourth season of the show.
Netflix has been leaning into local original content and giving it international legs lately, according to Netflix’s Q4 2019 financial report. In fact, some of the most popular 2019 titles on the SVOD were locally-made productions from countries such as India and Japan, according to the financial report. This strategy has also worked with Greenhouse Academy, says Chamizer. The original show was popular in Israel because of its focus on issues important to Israeli kids, such as growing up and learning to be independent, says Chamzir.
The Greenhouse Academy has one of the highest retention rates of the shows on Netflix, the SVOD told Chamizer. By following fans conversations on social media, he’s also learned that a lot of kids are binging the whole show at once.
Made on roughly US$40,000, Chamizer says they have to compensate for tighter budgets with more engaging stories with lots of twists and cliffhangers.
“Give kids a dense plot where something is always happening, that gives them a lot to get invested in,” he says.
Beyond beefy stories, Chamizer makes sure shows tap into the fundamental fears of his core demo, of eight to 14.
“Their biggest fear at that age is that their family will break up. My shows always start with a family breaking up,” says Chamizer. “The heroes’ journey then revolves around them finding out who they are without their parents, and them tackling the growing up process.”
As production begins on Sky, he’s breaking out his formula again to create a story where the protagonist has to find out who she is after she’s separated from her family. Plus, he’s mixing in sci-fi elements to up the stakes, and he’s hopeful that this mix will propel the show’s global reach.
“Making a living in a very small industry is a challenge, and the biggest challenge is to break through and make my shows international,” says Chamizer. “We took the first major step with The Greenhouse, but this is the beginning the road. I hope Sky will become an international show, but I’ve done one international production and I have four more to go, and making that happen is going to keep me busy for the next decade.”
