Nickelodeon Benelux to Premiere 'Just Add Magic' on Monday 20th January 2020
Nickelodeon Benelux will be adding some sparkle to the recipe with Just Add Magic, premiering Monday 20th January 2020 at 17:30 on Nickelodeon Netherlands (Nederland) and Nickelodeon Flanders (Vlaanderen)! In the spellbinding new U.S. live-action family television series, three best friends discover a magical cookbook that helps them uncover mysteries that span generations. Following its debut, Nickelodeon will serve up extra helpings with new episodes airing regularly. It's currently unknown whether the series will also air on Nickelodeon Wallonia (Wallonie). The series is locally titled Een Snufje Magie in the Netherlands and the Flanders region of Belgium (België).
The news follows Nickelodeon UK & Ireland starting to air Just Add Magic on November 2019 and Nickelodeon France also planning to debut the magical series on Monday 3rd February 2020.
In Just Add Magic, Kelly Quinn and her two BFF's, Darbie and Hannah, stumble upon her grandmother's mysterious cookbook in the attic and discover some far from ordinary recipes. When the Shut'em Up Shortcake silences Kelly's pesky little brother and the Healing Hazelnut Tart heals Darbie's ankle, the girls discover they have the power of magic.
In the lively town of Saffron Falls, teenage girls Kelly, Darbie, and Hannah are best friends who love cooking. While making a cake for Kelly's grandma's (who has a mysterious illness and cannot talk) birthday, the girls use a magical recipe using an ancient cookbook that they found in the attic. The recipes they find inside have strange names like "Shut'em Up Shortcake" and "Hazelnut Healing Tart" and require unusual ingredients, such as "Cedronian vanilla" and "Taurian thyme". The girls go to Mama P.’s shop to get the ingredients for the “Shut ‘em Up Shortcake” and when no one has any idea what they need, Mama P. reveals that she knows what the ingredients are, and she gives them the Cedronian Vanilla. They bake the cake, but when Kelly's brother Buddy and Hannah eat a bite of the shortcake and find themselves unable to talk, the three friends realise they are dealing with magic spells. At the same time as Hannah and Buddy's silence, Darbie cannot stop talking. Because of this, they also realise the spells come with a consequence.
Throughout season one, Kelly, Darbie, and Hannah investigate the magical recipes and face the temptations of using magic to help overcome the everyday challenges of being middle school girls. They conclude that Mama P. knows about the magic because she appears to have extensive knowledge of magical ingredients. Furthermore, they discover that the creepy neighbour Ms. Silvers also has a connection to magic after she warns them to stay away from it, telling them that it is dangerous. The girls realise that they are the protectors of the magical cookbook and that there were many others before them, three of whom were Mama P., Ms. Silvers and Kelly's grandma Becky. Among all this, Kelly has one overriding goal: to find the magical recipe that will fix her grandmother's mysterious illness, even if it means crossing creepy Mama P. or scary Ms. Silvers. As the girls work together they find out that Kelly's grandma Becky is under a curse, and so are Mama P. (whose curse does not let her leave Saffron Falls) and Ms. Silvers (whose curse does not let her play the piano in public). The girls, while trying to free Grandma Quinn of her curse, uncover various mysteries of the past.

Polaris, the ‘Adventures of Pete & Pete’ band, announce vinyl reissue & tour
Hey smiling strange, “The Band That Lives Inside Your TV” are back! Polaris, the house band from Nickelodeon's beloved '90s series The Adventures of Pete & Pete that features Mark Mulcahy, David McCaffre, and Scott Boutier, will be touring this year for only the second time ever with spring dates in Boston, Philadelphia, NYC, and more, and summer dates in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Chicago and more! It’s to support a new deluxe vinyl reissue of Music from the Adventures of Pete & Pete that will include a CD of original demos dating between 1992-95, liner notes from Pete & Pete co-creator Will McRobb, and a complete album lyric sheet. That will be out later this year via Mulcahy’s Mezzotint label.
Polaris are Mark Mulcahy (Muggy), David McCaffrey (Jersey), and Scott Boutier (Harris). The three were longtime bandmates in underground favorite Miracle Legion, who’ve also reunited in recent years. Post-Polaris, Mulcahy went on to start an eclectic solo career, becoming one of the most celebrated and revered songwriters making records today. McCaffrey and Boutier played bass and drums together in several acts including Frank Black and the Catholics.
The “21st Century Tour” will find Muggy, Jersey and Harris venturing out to 14 US cities between May and August. They’ll bring a mix of Polaris and Miracle Legion songs, plus some surprises to the sets. These shows will be the first since the band’s highly successful “Waiting for October Tour” in 2014-15, a jaunt across the country that found a generation of now grown-up Nickelodeon fans singing along to every word. The joyful reunion tour culminated in the beautifully recorded and packaged Live at Lincoln Hall double album.
In addition to touring, Polaris’ hit vinyl record, Music from the Adventures of Pete & Pete, will be receiving a special reissue to mark the occasion. The release will be a deluxe vinyl package, including a CD of original demos dating between 1992-95, liner notes from Pete & Pete co-creator Will McRobb, and a complete album lyric sheet. It’s the ultimate edition of a record that Consequence of Sound called “a collection of songs that perfectly capture the confusion, whimsy, and wonder of adolescence.”
The “21st Century Tour” begins on May 14th in Pawtucket, RI, at The Met and wraps up on August 8th in Maquoketa, IA, at Codfish Hollow. Hey smiling strange, “The Band That Lives Inside Your TV” are back! Polaris, the house band from Nickelodeon's beloved '90s series The Adventures of Pete & Pete that features Mark Mulcahy, David McCaffre, and Scott Boutier, will be touring this year for only the second time ever with spring dates in Boston, Philadelphia, NYC, and more, and summer dates in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Chicago and more! It’s to support a new deluxe vinyl reissue of Music from the Adventures of Pete & Pete that will include a CD of original demos dating between 1992-95, liner notes from Pete & Pete co-creator Will McRobb, and a complete album lyric sheet. That will be out later this year via Mulcahy’s Mezzotint label.
Polaris are Mark Mulcahy (Muggy), David McCaffrey (Jersey), and Scott Boutier (Harris). The three were longtime bandmates in underground favorite Miracle Legion, who’ve also reunited in recent years. Post-Polaris, Mulcahy went on to start an eclectic solo career, becoming one of the most celebrated and revered songwriters making records today. McCaffrey and Boutier played bass and drums together in several acts including Frank Black and the Catholics.
The “21st Century Tour” will find Muggy, Jersey and Harris venturing out to 14 US cities between May and August. They’ll bring a mix of Polaris and Miracle Legion songs, plus some surprises to the sets. These shows will be the first since the band’s highly successful “Waiting for October Tour” in 2014-15, a jaunt across the country that found a generation of now grown-up Nickelodeon fans singing along to every word. The joyful reunion tour culminated in the beautifully recorded and packaged Live at Lincoln Hall double album.
In addition to touring, Polaris’ hit vinyl record, Music from the Adventures of Pete & Pete, will be receiving a special reissue to mark the occasion. The release will be a deluxe vinyl package, including a CD of original demos dating between 1992-95, liner notes from Pete & Pete co-creator Will McRobb, and a complete album lyric sheet. It’s the ultimate edition of a record that Consequence of Sound called “a collection of songs that perfectly capture the confusion, whimsy, and wonder of adolescence.”
The “21st Century Tour” begins on May 14th in Pawtucket, RI, at The Met and wraps up on August 8th in Maquoketa, IA, at Codfish Hollow.
