Paddington Bear Continues to Make In-Roads in U.S. Market

Following the successful launch of the The Adventures of Paddington, the all-new TV series that debuted on Nickelodeon in the U.S. in January 2020, Copyrights is delighted to announce new TV tie-in partners across categories in the U.S. to include The Bentex Group for kids tees, sportswear, swimwear and outerwear and Franco Manufacturing Co. Inc. for Home and Domestics, including bedding, throws, beach and bath. The deals were brokered by local agents Bravado and Retail Monster.


Spring 2020 will see the launch of the new TV tie-in publishing from HarperCollins, and for Fall the new TV product range from Master Toy partner, PhatMojo, will be launching to include plush, articulated figures, sets and vehicles. Further TV tie-in lines are set to follow from Spring 2021.

Alongside the TV tie-in range of consumer products in the US, classic Paddington offers remain available at specialty and independent retailers from partners YottoY (classic and infant plush); Little Goodall (upstairs and department outerwear and dresses); Litographs (e-commerce apparel and posters); and Out Of Print (e-commerce apparel, bags and pins); Christopher Radko (ornaments) and more, allowing fans inspired by the iconic franchise’s 60+ year history to collect products across different touchpoints of the brand.

The critically acclaimed (New York Times Critic’s Pick) touring Rockefeller show which launched in December 2019 in New York, will run until 8 March 2020 when it will then continue its tour with the next stop being Canada from April 18th, 2020. The show will be back in the U.S. from September, with U.S. locations to be confirmed in the near future.

The third Paddington film is currently in development.

Preschoolers are set for more heart-warming adventures with their favorite coat-clad bear, as Paddington returns to screens in the brand-new CG-animated series The Adventures of Paddington!

The Adventures of Paddington centres on a younger Paddington as he writes letters to Aunt Lucy celebrating the new things he has discovered through the day’s exciting activities. The series is a Heyday Films and STUDIOCANAL production in association with Copyrights.

Actor Ben Whishaw (Paddington 1 & 2) reprises his role as the voice of the title character, alongside new cast members Morwenna Banks, Bobby Beynon, Sheena Bhattessa, Darren Boyd, Noel Clarke, Phyllis Logan, Monica Lopera, Sabrina Newton-Fisher, David Schofield, Reece Shearsmith (The League of Gentlemen, Inside No. 9), Liz Sutherland-Lim and Jeremiah Waysome.

The Adventures of Paddington also features a brand-new theme song “Paddington Bear” written and performed by one of Britain’s most successful musicians, Gary Barlow (Take That).

The Adventures of Paddington (52 X 11’) is directed by Adam Shaw and Chris Drew of Blue Zoo (Go Jetters, Digby Dragon, Miffy, Q Pootle 5), and developed for television and written by Jon Foster and James Lamont (The Amazing World of Gumball, Cuckoo, Paddington 1 & 2).

The series is executive produced by multi-award winner David Heyman (producer of all eight of the Harry Potter films, Paddington 1 & 2) and Rosie Alison (Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Paddington 1 & 2). The Adventures of Paddington is produced by Karen Davidsen (formerly with Disney and HIT Entertainment) and Simon Quinn (Isle of Dogs, Fantastic Mr. Fox), and co-produced by Rob Silva.

The Adventures of Paddington premiered on Nickelodeon in the U.S. on Monday, Jan. 20, at 12:30 p.m. (ET/PT), following a special preview on Friday, Dec. 20, at 12:30 p.m. (ET/PT). Following its U.S. launch, The Adventures of Paddington will roll out on the net’s international channels and branded blocks beginning March 2020, including on Nick Jr. UK & Ireland on Monday 2nd March 2020 and Nickelodeon Germany on Monday 30th March 2020.

In the series premiere, “Paddington Finds a Hobby/Paddington and the Stamp,” Paddington doesn’t have a hobby, so Mrs. Brown helps him find out what he’s good at. Then, Paddington gets his arm stuck in a mailbox while sending a letter to Aunt Lucy.

The Copyrights Group has inked some fresh licensing deals for the property, including: HarperCollins Children’s Books for tie-in books, Ravensburger for preschool puzzles, and Trends UK for early learning toys.

The stakes are higher than ever but that’s Henry Danger. There’s some tension between Henry and Ray in the final episodes. “You swore an oath to defend this city,” Captain Man (Cooper Barnes) tells Kid Danger (Jace Norman), who replies, “I don’t want to be Captain Man. I will never, ever be Captain Man.”
