ASTRO in Malaysia Adds Nick Jr. to Kids Pack

Malaysia - ASTRO is delighted to announce that its Kids Pack will be refreshed for the next generation of Malaysian children, with two exciting new entertainment channels, plus 10,000 On Demand episodes of kids’ favourite shows beginning Dec 15.


Astro Director of Content Agnes Rozario said: “We welcome Boomerang (Ch 619) and Nick Jr. (Ch 617) to our family.

"These two great channels will join Cartoon Network (Ch 615 HD / Ch 635) and Nickelodeon (Ch 616 HD / Ch 636) on the Kids Pack, and will complement Baby TV (Ch 618), Astro Xiao Tai Yang (Ch 304 HD/ Ch 344), Chutti TV (Ch 213), Astro Tutor TV (Ch 601 / Ch 602 / Ch 603), Astro TVIQ (Ch 610), and, of course, Malaysia’s no. 1 kids entertainment brand, Astro Ceria (Ch 611 HD/ Ch 631).

"Kids can look forward to pre-school favourite Nick Jr. (Ch 617) with global hits like Paw Patrol, Dora the Explorer, Top Wing, Shimmer and Shine and Blue’s Clues & You, whilst Boomerang (Ch 619), with its multi-generational appeal, is the home of hit shows such as Mr. Bean: The Animated Series, My Little Pony: Pony Life, Scooby-doo! Guess Who?, The Tom & Jerry Show, The Looney Tunes Show and Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures.”

All Astro customers also can enjoy a new pop-up channel, FAMtv (Ch 100) starting today. FAMtv (Ch 100) promises something the whole family can enjoy with Malaysia’s favourites such as Running Man, Mr. Bean, Doraemon, Phua Chu Kang, Crayon Sin Chan, Dexter’s Laboratory and Kampung Boy.

Rozario continued: “While we’re delighted about our refreshed kids content slate, we wish to advise that Disney has notified all its Southeast Asia partners that it will be discontinuing Disney XD HD (Ch 612) on Dec 31 at midnight.

As part of this upcoming refresh of our Kids Pack, Disney Channel HD (Ch 614 HD/ Ch 634) and Disney Junior HD (Ch 613) will also cease broadcast on our network on Dec 31 at midnight.

Discotek Media to Release 'Grimm’s Fairy Tale Classics' on SD-BD in 2021

Discotek Media announced during their The Discotek Media Stand-Alone Industry Panel Part II: THE SEQUEL stream on Dec. 15 that the boutique anime home video publisher be releasing Grimm’s Fairy Tale Classics on SD-BD (standard definition on Blu-ray) in 2021.

 
Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics comprises two series. The first series, known in Japan as Grimm Masterpiece Theater (グリム名作劇場, Gurimu Meisaku Gekijō), aired from October 21, 1987 to March 30, 1988, for a total of 24 episodes. The second series, known in Japan as New Grimm Masterpiece Theater (新グリム名作劇場, Shin Gurimu Meisaku Gekijō), aired between October 2, 1988 and March 26, 1989, totaling 23 episodes. Both series were produced by Nippon Animation with the cooperation of Asahi Broadcasting Corporation in Osaka. It was also localized under the series' English name. The series aired on Nickelodeon in the U.S.A. between 1992-1995.


The series adapts of a variety of folk and fairy tales, and, despite the name, not limited to Grimm's Fairy Tales.

The SD-BD release will feature a new reconstruction of the Saban dub and original Japanese version. The series will be released in two volumes.
