FUN Lifts the Lid on Avatar: The Last Airbender Ramen Bowl Set

FUN recently launched an exclusive set of ramen bowls based on Avatar: The Last Airbender, with the product officially being licensed by Nickelodeon. The Avatar: The Last Airbender Four Nations Ramen Bowl Set is made up of four bowls, with each one being modeled after the specific nations: the Air Nomads, the Water Tribe, the Earth Kingdom and the Fire Nation.

FUN's Avatar: The Last Airbender Four Nations Ramen Bowl Set would fit right in at The Jasmine Dragon.

Available on Fun.com, the set is descripted as something that allows you to, "extend the harmony of the elements to your next dinner party, since it comes with a bowl for each nation," with each bowl being designed with the colors associated with its corresponding element. For instance, the Fire Nation bowl is red and black, and on two sides of the bowl is the Fire Nation insignia. Meanwhile, the Water Tribe bowl is light blue, featuring a lunar design in reference to how Waterbenders draw their strength from the moon.

Some kitchenware inspired by popular cartoons and television are too literal in the design, plastering the characters or the logo directly onto the product and leaving it at that; however, this bowl set is more simplistic. It feels as if it could be found within the world of Avatar, with the Earth Kingdom bowl fitting in perfectly at Uncle Iroh's tea shop, The Jasmine Dragon. Meanwhile, for your guests who haven't seen The Last Airbender, they can still appreciate the ramen bowl set for its slick and unique design without having to know the reference.

While the bowls don't look wide, they're 4 inches high and 5 inches wide, holding 16 ounces, so they're the perfect size for a bowl of ramen or sea prune stew, a classic Southern Watertribe dish. Each one also comes with a pair of chopsticks, which fit perfectly into the bowl's notch and hole, hopefully making it easier to keep the chopsticks from getting lost in the kitchen drawer amongst other utensils. Each bowl is also ceramic and safe for the dishwasher and microwave, so you can quickly heat up a bowl of instant ramen.

The bowls come just in time, as an official Avatar: The Last Airbender cookbook is set to be released this summer.

The sets run for $74.99 on Fun.com, but for those who want to show their loyalty to one nation, the bowls can be purchased individually for $19.99 each.

Make sure to check out all the Avatar: The Last Airbender goodies available to purchase on Fun.com, including an Uncle Iroh tea set and the Avatar Aang garden gnome!

From Vocalo:

IDRIS GOODWIN AND NICKELODEON JOIN UP FOR BLACK HISTORY RAP ANTHEM

The song explores the depth of Black history in America, from Frederick Douglass to Marvin Gaye, celebrating and empowering Black youth across the country.

As an award-winning organizer, breakbeat poet, playwright and director, Idris Goodwin has dedicated his life to educating through the arts; bringing in new audiences and exploring difficult subjects with a performative flair. Though he appears weekly on Same Old New School talking all things hip hop with Kevin Coval, rarely do we hear the bars coming directly from the poet’s mouth. But in celebration of Black History Month, Goodwin partnered with Nickelodeon to deliver a fast, clever rap anthem written and performed by him.

“Black History (It’s Yours)” is reminiscent of old school hip hop artists like KRS-One, using rap and fast-paced lyrics to educate and inform. In this case, Goodwin recounts a collection of notable Black figures in American history and their essential contributions to the country. From immortalized heroes like Frederick Douglass and Rosa Parks, to lesser-known figures like refrigeration pioneer Fred McKinley Jones or  mathematician Katherine Johnson, whose work was critical to NASA’s first spaceflights. The accompanying animated video directed by Yavae Thomas emphasizes the importance of learning the presence of Black America from a young age.

Watch the full below, and listen to Idris Goodwin break down his own writing process in the latest episode of Same Old New School!

‘Motu Patlu’ Bags Best Animated Programme at Asian Academy Creative Awards 2020

Nearly eight years since its inception globally, Cosmos-Maya’s Motu Patlu still entertains and wows young audiences. It has retained its top position among kids’ animated shows on TV and digital platforms. And now, it has added another feather to its cap! The 3D animated series has bagged the Best Animated Programme or Series (2D or 3D), National Winner from India, at the reputed annual Asian Academy Creative Awards held at Singapore!

With the year nearing its end, the award season has begun, and being recognised at the AACA signifies global recognition for Motu Patlu, Cosmos-Maya and the Indian kids animation sector on the whole at the international media stage. Motu Patlu will compete with national winners from 10 other countries for the final round of the AACA to be held virtually from Singapore in December 2020.

One of the prime viewership drivers for kids’ channel Nickelodeon India, Motu Patlu has consistently been the top show in terms of viewership, watch time and ratings as per BARC statistics. In fact, for week 41 (10 to 16 October), Motu Patlu: The Super Heroes and Super Villains from Mars is the number one show among Top Five Programmes with 1179 (in thousands) weekly impressions followed by Rudra, Motu Patlu in the Game of Zones, Shinchan and Oggy and the Cockroaches. The 3D animated show has also been declared ‘the most popular animation show in the world’ by Google, two years in a row.

Commenting on the win, Cosmos-Maya CEO Anish Mehta stated, “As 2020 is coming towards an end, this was extremely welcome news for our production and executive team. Motu Patlu is the crown jewel of the Indian animation industry. It is our first kids’ IP that kickstarted our content production wing, which currently holds 60 per cent market share in the Indian kids’ animation space, catering to 200 million kids in India, and millions abroad in more than 10 languages. We are absolutely elated to witness the manner in which our Motu and Patlu have slowly gained pop icon status in India; from comic book characters to one of the top-viewed cartoons by Indians globally. This recognition by AACA goes to show how the world is our oyster and how our industry is gearing up for a global culture-agnostic media market.”

In September, Motu Patlu celebrated its 1000-episode milestone, a record it has managed to set in less than a decade. Moreover, Motu and Patlu are the only animated characters from India to have their wax statues at the famous Madame Tussaud’s Museum. The success of the series has resulted in 21 telemovies, a full-length 3D stereoscopic feature film and a spin-off show with one of its characters, Inspector Chingum which currently streams on Amazon Prime Video. The awesome twosome have even done a bit of yoga with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Motu Patlu wax statues at the Madame Tussaud’s Museum

Cosmos-Maya chief creative officer and Motu Patlu director Suhas Kadav mentioned, “Watching our creations grow from familiar characters to one of the most viewed and loved shows is a journey few content creators get to undertake. Motu, Patlu, Dr. Jhatka, Ghasitaram and the townspeople of Furfuri nagar have been nurtured by our team like family and will always hold a special place in my heart. There’s no better feeling than seeing our beloved characters win such huge laurels at such prestigious events. I’m immensely obliged towards the panel at AACA for bestowing this honour upon Motu Patlu.”

It boasts a viewership of seven billion globally by nearly 55 million subscribers on Cosmos-Maya’s YouTube multichannel network, WowKidz. Kadav further revealed that relatable, simple, funny storyline of these two buffoons who’re heroic in their own ways is the key to Motu Patlu’s success and popularity to date.

“We kept our stories simple, engaging, relatable and fun. At the beginning, we weren’t sure how the animation or the stories would pan out in every episode since we took the characters from comics. Hence, we decided to make a two and half minute promo of the IP first -keeping in mind that we wanted our grown-up heroes Motu and Patlu to be funny yet having a moral sense. We wanted Motu Patlu to stand out as an animated series, unique and different from any other shows on air. Even after 1000 episodes, as a director, I still sit with the writer and work on the storyline, graph, comedy gags, action, the flow of the episode to give it a perfect entertainment quotient for the kids,” he added.

Most recently, Cosmos-Maya’s WowKidz Distribution has secured a number of deals for the iconic animated IP. They are:

- Dubai-based Dubuzz Entertainment has picked up non-exclusive AVOD rights for 208 half-hours of Motu Patlu

- China-based Puxin and Zhong Lu have picked up non-exclusive digital rights for 335 half-hours of Motu Patlu along with Vir: The Robot Boy, Eena Meena Deeka and Tik Tak Tail for digital streaming on government IPTVs.
