‘Star Trek: Prodigy’: Jimmi Simpson & John Noble Join Voice Cast Of Paramount Plus and Nickelodeon's Animated Series

Jimmi Simpson (Westworld) and John Noble (Fringe) will join the cast of Paramount+’s Star Trek: Prodigy, an CG-animated series from Kevin and Dan Hageman and produced by Nickelodeon Animation studio and CBS Studios, as series regulars. They join previously announced cast members, including: Kate Mulgrew, Brett Gray, Ella Purnell and Angus Imrie.

The first Star Trek series aimed at younger audiences, Star Trek: Prodigy will follow a motley crew of young aliens who must figure out how to work together while navigating a greater galaxy, in search for a better future. These six young outcasts know nothing about the U.S.S. Protostar, the mysteriously abandoned experimental Federation starship at the center of the show that they have commandeered – a first in the history of the Star Trek franchise – but over the course of their adventures together, they will each be introduced to Starfleet and the ideals it represents.

Noble will voice the series' villain, known as The Diviner. A ruthless tyrant who controls the asteroid of Tars Lamora, The Diviner exploits wayward species and will stop at nothing in his hunt for the Protostar ship, no matter the cost. Though his goals are shrouded in mystery, his body is failing him and he created his progeny, Gwyn, to one day carry on his mission when she is ready for it.

One of the Protostar’s fledgling crew happens to be the Diviner’s child, Gwyn (Ella Purnell), which no doubt complicates matters for her new compatriots, especially since the Diviner sees Gwyn as the heir to his legacy.

Simpson joins the cast as Drednok. The Diviner’s spider-like deadly robotic enforcer is heartless and cold. His sole purpose is to keep The Diviner on task and ensure that the Protostar is found. Drednok is a friend to no one, including The Diviner’s own daughter Gwyn and uses his menacing spider-like form to impose The Diviner’s will.

Additional cast members are Rylee Alazraqui, Dee Bradley Baker and Jason Mantzoukas. Star Trek: Prodigy, which will premiere later this year,  is from CBS’ Eye Animation Productions, CBS Studios’ new animation arm; Nickelodeon Animation Studio, led by President of Animation, Ramsey Naito; Secret Hideout; and Roddenberry Entertainment. The series will premiere first on Paramount+ followed by a run on Nickelodeon.

Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Katie Krentz, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth serve as executive producers alongside co-showrunners Kevin and Dan Hageman. Ben Hibon directs, co-executive produces and serves as the creative lead of the all-new animated series. Aaron Baiers also serves as co-executive producer.

Nobel has also starred in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Sleepy Hollow and Elementary, and he most recently appeared in the 2021 horror film The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.

Simpson is also doing voice work on the AMC Plus musical series Ultra City Smiths, and he’s starred in Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G., Black Mirror: USS Callister and House of Cards. He’s currently shooting The Man Who Fell to Earth for Showtime and CBS Studios, which also stars Mulgrew and is produced by Secret Hideout.

Noble is repped by Seven Summits Pictures & Management. Simpson is repped by ICM Partners, Industry Entertainment and attorney Bruce Gellman.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl: Ludosity Reveals No Current Plans to Add Live-Action Characters to Game's Roster

Ever since the first characters to be featured in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl were announced in July, there has been much speculation on whether the game would include live-action characters from shows such as iCarly (Sam's buttersock anyone?), Victorious (Andre's grandma would be perfect!) and Drake & Josh (Crazy Steve!)

Unfortunately, we shouldn't hold our breath. Not only is the team at Ludosity - the studio behind All-Star Brawl - relatively unaware of Nickelodeon's spate of live-action shows ("they haven't aired in Sweden," says Joel Nyström, producer and CEO at developer Ludosity), but the team feels like they may not be the right fit.

"I'd assume they don't feature a giant, two-ton hammer suddenly produced from your back pocket," Nyström told GamesRadar when asked about including live-action fighters. "There's just so much weird and zany stuff to draw from the animated shows! And there is no shortage of amazing characters there."

To be fair, whereas Smash Bros. can easily incorporate existing game characters with a well-known fighting style or weapon, it's a lot harder to pull in two live-action stepbrothers into a brawler game.

Despite the lack of live-action fighters, the team "fought to include" some unexpected fighters, like Powdered Toast Man from The Ren & Stimpy Show. Ultimately, the team at Ludosity picked characters they "felt had opportunities for unique move-sets, and fan favorites," explains Nyström. "Our process for creating the move-sets involves the entire team to come up with ideas, we collaborate on an online whiteboard and just draw and draw, silly stuff, cool stuff, anything goes. Our core team of designers then narrows it down to something coherent. As the characters are implemented, we put an enormous focus on playtesting – where we balance and tweak so that it plays well. In this stage [of development], we've also sometimes changed out a move if it didn't quite work, but most characters have had only minimal changes."

Nyström and the team at Ludosity know that Super Smash Bros. is the blueprint from which Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl was drawn – but they believe they've got something new to bring to the table. Nyström calls the comparison "fair", saying "Smash Bros. is the grandfather of the game," but he's quick to point out some distinctions.

"Every new platform fighter brings something unique to the fight and I personally can't wait to see what this genre can become in the future. With Nick All-Star Brawl, we have made a more streamlined experience with a control scheme that draws from the lessons of the entire scene – while at the same time keeping it competitive. And above all else, fun!" We'll have to play Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl to see what the new control scheme feels like, but streamlined is always a good thing, especially in colorful brawlers that can often lean towards the chaotic.

Ludosity is behind another streamlined platform fighter called Slap City, so the devs are well-versed when it comes to making a successful brawler. "Slap City has an extremely diverse, fun roster in terms of playlists," Nyström says when asked what the team has learned from the 2018 game. "That and the very strong core gameplay mechanics is why so many have fallen in love with it, I think. We hope to continue this legacy with All-Star Brawl and even expand it."

It'll be exciting to see how Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl plays, how each character fits into the fight, and how the Ludosity team plans on growing what is already set to be an iconic game full of iconic characters.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is set to release fall 2021 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Click here for all the info!

Lil Nas X is Thrilled About Getting Mentioned in an ‘iCarly’ Joke; Gets Invited Onto the Show

iCarly was a defining Nickelodeon show of the late 2000s/early 2010s, and there has been enough buzz about the series since it ended in 2012 that a revival debuted on Paramount+ this summer. The finale of the new season debuted today (August 26), and it featured a funny reference to Lil Nas X, who was pleased with the nod!

In the episode, "iReturn to Webicon," the characters find themselves outdoors, seemingly in an unfortunate situation. One of the gang, Millicent Mitchell (Jaidyn Triplett), asks desperately, “Is this hell?” Another, Harper Bettencourt (Laci Mosley), replies with a reference to the “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” video, saying, “No! Hell at least has Lil Nas X!”

The rapper caught wind of the clip and seemed excited about the mention, tweeting, “oh my god let’s goooo icarly mention.”

Lil Nas X's tweet caught the eye of Ali Schouten, the showrunner for the iCarly revival, who invited the rapper onto the show!:

Whilst show writer Danny Fernandez tweeted:

Meanwhile, Lil Nas X just revealed that his album Montero is set for release on September 17, writing, “creating this album has been therapy for me. i’ve learned to let go of trying to control people’s perception of who i am, what i can do, and where i will be. i’ve realized the only opinion of me that really matters is my own.”

Wśród atrakcji znajdą się m.in. zabawy nawiązujące do animacji Nickelodeona „Psi Patrol”.

Część z nich nawiązywać będzie do popularnej animacji stacji Nickelodeon „Psi Patrol”.

Z kolei w strefie Skye będzie można spróbować sił w rzucaniu do celu. Odwiedzając to miejsce, będzie można także zapleść sobie kolorowe warkoczyki i nakleić zmywalny tatuaż. W galerii pojawi się także dmuchaniec.

– Tegoroczne wakacje żegnamy wspólnie z Nickelodeonem, a dokładnie z bohaterami „Psiego Patrolu”.
