What Changes to Expect With Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl's Balance Patch
Here are some changes to expect for the upcoming Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl balance patch
We recently heard how Michelangelo of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was banned from Super Smash Con's Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl event. It's becoming quite clear at this point that Mikey is by far the best character in the game right now.
Thaddeus Crews, one of the Ludosity developers that worked on Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, has revealed a few snippets of information about what to expect in an upcoming patch to address some of the broken and "unfun" things that are currently in the game.
One of the big issues with Mikey right now revolves around how his light neutral aerial works. Upon hitting the enemy, they're sent in a downward angle and are trapped in hit stun for an unusually long duration. Using this move a certain way in combination with up throw allows Mikey to perform a rather simple touch-of-death combo over and over again during a match.
The upcoming patch will cause this attack to send opponents at a more upward angle. In addition, the attack will also cause less hit stun.
Directional influence (DI) will be more impactful once the patch drops. This should hopefully gives players better escape opportunities against many of the overcentralized neutral aerial loops that currently exist in the game.
The patch is supposedly slated to drop on Monday, October 18 but we'll have to see how things unfold from there.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl's Michelangelo Banned From Super Smash Con 2021
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl's take on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Michelangelo will not be playable at Super Smash Con due to balancing issues.
The popular new fighting game Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will be featured at Super Smash Con this year, but the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles character Michelangelo will not be playable.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will be the first non-Super Smash Bros. game to make an appearance at the major fighting game event, which has been around since 2015 and is making its return this year following its 2020 cancellation due to the pandemic.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl was released on October 5 has been earning praise for succeeding at the fighting game mash-up formula in ways that previous titles like PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale could not. The game is heavily influenced by Nintendo's long-running Super Smash Bros. franchise in that it is a massive crossover extravaganza featuring iconic characters from several different popular properties. Up to four players can compete in a single match, playing as characters from beloved shows like SpongeBob SquarePants and Avatar: The Last Airbender. The characters April O'Neil, Leonardo and Michelangelo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles also make an appearance, with the latter gaining some notoriety for being overpowered.
In an effort to keep matches balanced, Super Smash Con director Michael Brancato recently announced via a published ruleset that the party dude Ninja Turtle would be banned from the competition. Speaking with Kotaku, Brancato explained that this decision was made due to an unbreakable combo that Michelangelo is able to perform. The character can also stall matches with one of his specials, though Brancato has stated that this was not the reason for the ban.
As demonstrated in Super Smash Bros.'s recent Sora moveset showcase, this subgenre of fighter game hinges on meticulously designed mechanics that keep matches balanced. This balance becomes invaluable when entering the competitive space, as players need to feel that matches are fair for the competition to mean anything. If the organizers of Super Smash Con feel that Mikey needs to be banned to maintain the integrity of the event, then it will be important for attendees to understand and respect that decision.
Even though Michelangelo won't be playable at this year's convention, upcoming patches could balance the character and potentially make him an option for competitors next year. The developers intend to continue their support of the game, even teasing that third-party characters like Dragon Ball Z's Goku could be added as future DLC, so rebalancing characters doesn't seem so unlikely. Either way, Super Smash Con attendees planning on competing with Michelangelo this year might need to start honing their skills with another character, such as Mikey's bro Leo.

Get set for an intergalactic family reunion! Nickelodeon Australia & New Zealand will premiere Overlord and the Underwoods, a brand new out-of-this-world live-action comedy series, on Monday 1st November 2021!
Overlord and the Underwoods is a original half-hour, live-action, single camera family comedy series (20×30') that follows the Underwoods, a North American family, whose life is turned upside down when their distant cousin, Overlord, the second most-wanted villain in the universe, seeks refuge in their home after being forced into intergalactic witness protection. After snitching out his boss, the evil Mega-Lord Supreme, Overlord is sent to live with his incredibly nice, distant cousins on Planet Earth. Over the course of the series, the evil Overlord and the very sweet Underwoods discover a thing or two about each other as they learn to treasure the value of family and the importance of true friendship, diversity, and compassion.
The new sitcom stars Ari Resnick (Ranger Rob) as Weaver Underwood, Kamaia Fairburn (Holly Hobbie) as Willow Underwood), Darryl Hinds (Designated Survivor) as Jim Underwood, Patrice Goodman (The Umbrella Academy) as Flower Underwood, and Troy Feldman (Reign) as Overlord.

Academy-Award winning FX expert, Roger Christian (Alien, Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace and Episode IV A New Hope) boards the series as Character Designer. Christian was responsible for creating the props and sets for Star Wars, including the infamous lightsaber. His designs for this show will be brought to life by MastersFX and include Overlord’s helmet and costume and his animatronic, robot sidekick.
