In the sneak peek clip of episode “Catastrophe,” when Nate is paired with Jenny on a school project, he hopes to prove his awesomeness to her, but his cat phobia threatens to destroy his cool.

Based on the best-selling children’s books and comic strip written and drawn by acclaimed author and cartoonist Lincoln Peirce, Paramount+’s Big Nate will feature brand-new original storylines centered on Nate, a sixth-grade kid who has a never-ending need to prove his awesomeness to the world.
Whether he’s dealing with disasters at home or detention at school, Nate Wright is no stranger to a challenge. Luckily, he’s able to express himself through the world of cartoons that he creates. Charming, mischievous and a magnet for misadventure, Nate always finds a way to turn trouble into fun.
The series will stream beginning Thursday, Feb. 17, exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S., Canada, Latin America and later in the month in Australia. The first eight episodes will be available in the U.S. and Canada, with more episodes to be announced at a later date. Produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio, Big Nate follows a precocious 11-year-old boy named Nate and his best friends as they navigate sixth grade with humor and style.
The clip does a great job of encapsulating the tone and sensibilities of Big Nate, as well as its visual style. In the clip, Nate is trusted into the world of team school projects, and the intricate Game of Thrones-style political scheming involved in trying to influence the choice of partners. The clip is kind of reminiscent of a different Nickelodeon show, Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, a live-action comedy all about trying to survive school. The humor is very meta, with Nate breaking the fourth wall and talking directly to the audience about what he's thinking and what he's scheming, like forcing a change in the project partners, so he can be with a girl he wants to impress, or using cartoons to retell the tale his father told him about how cats steal the souls of little boys at night.
Nickelodeon will also air a brand new Big Nate short titled "CATastrophe" on Friday, January 28 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, as part of the network's Nick Shorts Showcase series.
In the series premiere, “The Legend of the Gunting,” Nate has multiple detentions on the docket, per usual. But this time he is only one detention away from a fate only whispered about in the halls of P.S. 38. Meanwhile, the unhinged new kid is determined to become Nate’s prank partner. Jack Black (“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”) guest stars as Brad Gunter, a prankster of epic proportions and Nate’s inspiration, and Daniel Jacobs (“All Hail King Julien: Exiled”) lends his voice as Bentley Carter, the new kid at P.S. 38 eager to wreak havoc through the school on teachers and students alike.
The stellar lineup of actors lending their voice talent to the beloved characters of Big Nate include Ben Giroux (Nate Wright), Dove Cameron (Ellen Wright), Rob Delaney (Martin Wright), Bryce Charles (Dee Dee Holloway), Daniel MK Cohen (Francis Pope), Arnie Pantoja (Teddy Ortiz), Charlie Schlatter (Chad Applewhite), Kevin Michael Richardson (Principal Nichols), Carolyn Hennesy (Mrs. Godfrey), Nik Dodani (Randy), Betsy Sodaro (Kim), Lisa Kay Jennings (Gina), Chandni Parekh (Jenny), Todd Haberkorn (Artur), Ryan Garcia (Mr. Rosa), Mike Rivkin (Mr. Galvin) and Chester Rushing (Zeff).
Big Nate is executive produced by Mitch Watson (“All Hail King Julien”) and John Cohen (“The Angry Birds Movie”) and produced by Amy McKenna (“Beware the Batman”), with Lincoln Peirce serving as consultant throughout development and production. Bridget McMeel is co-producer.

Paramount Plus to Premiere New Villain-Centric 'TMNT' Movies in 2023
Get ready for lots more Turtle Power as a new era of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-mania is set to take over in 2023!
In addition to the previously announced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Next Chapter, a brand new animated movie produced by Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg and directed by Jeff Rowe which is currently slated for release in August 2023, Nickelodeon Animation will be producing a series of exclusive movies for Paramount+ beginning in 2023, each centering on one of the property’s storied villains in never-before-told tales!
Colin Jost (Saturday Night Live) and his brother Casey (Impractical Jokers) are also reportedly penning a new live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie for Paramount, although his is still currently unconfirmed.
Speaking during ViacomCBS' 2022 Investors Event, Brian Robbins, chief content officer of movies and kids and family for Paramount+, revealed that Rogen's TMNT film “is taking the property back to its original DNA of comedy and action.”
Nickelodeon is also working with Netflix on an original animated 2D film based on that most recent series, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which is set to release on Netflix later this year.
