'SpongeBob' Supervising Director Hints That New 'SpongeBob' Will Air in January 2023

Fans of Nickelodeon's beloved animated series SpongeBob SquarePants were disappointed when the network suddenly postponed the new episodes of SpongeBob and The Patrick Star Show, as well as the new crossover special "The Tidal Zone" which were slated to air this month. However, it seems like fans won't have long to wait until new episodes arrive!

Dave Cunningham, a Supervising Director of Bikini Bottom, has hinted on Twitter than fans will likely be "rewarded" with new SpongeBob content in January 2023!

However, Cunningham didn't specify what fans can expect to see in January: new episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants and/or new episodes of it's spin-off series Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years and The Patrick Star Show, and/or "The Tidal Zone". In a recent press release, Nickelodeon announced that SpongeBob SquarePants Presents The Tidal Zone, which was slated to air on November 25 as part of the network's Thanksgiving highlights, is now set to air during the first quarter of next year.

Update (12/11) - Vincent Waller, a executive producer of the SpongeBob Universe, has revealed that Nickelodeon is slated to premiere "The Tidal Zone" in January 2023!

In SpongeBob SquarePants Presents The Tidal Zone, Nickelodeon will take viewers on a multidimensional adventure deep below the ocean's surface throughout Bikini Bottom with the first-ever SpongeBob Universe crossover special. The one-hour special encompasses all three animated series within the SpongeBob Universe, SpongeBob SquarePants, The Patrick Star Show, and the Paramount+ original series Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years and follows GrandPat (The Patrick Star Show) as he makes his way through each dimension.

SpongeBob SquarePants Presents The Tidal Zone is a journey into an hour of television where two dimensions can become three, and French divers can wear black ties. Observe a tale of both comedy and caution, of satire and stupidity. Minds may switch, bodies may shrink, and robots may rise in... "The Tidal Zone."

Nickelodeon to Premiere New 'PAW Patrol' Episode 'Mighty Pups Stop a Mighty Eel' on December 26

Nickelodeon will premiere the brand new PAW Patrol episode "Mighty Pups Stop a Mighty Eel" on Monday, December 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. (ET/PT)!

In "Mighty Pups Stop a Mighty Eel," when an eel accidentally swallows a piece of the meteor and becomes gigantic, it's up to the Mighty Pups to save Adventure Bay!

Fans can also tune into the Nickelodeon NFL Nickmas Game halftime presentation on Sunday, December 25 for a PUPtastic sneak peek at the upcoming PAW Patrol spin-off, Rubble & Crew! The game starts at 4:30 p.m. (ET)!

Stoopid Buddy Stoodios Reportedly Developing New Series for Nickelodeon

Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, an artist-friendly collective that houses some of the finest talent in animation and entertainment, is reportedly developing a series for Nickelodeon!

In the boilerplate of a recent press release, the studio (formerly known as Stoopid Monkey), best known for the longest running stop-motion show on TV, the multi-Emmy® Award-winning Robot Chicken on Adult Swim, mentions some of their upcoming projects, which includes "Justin Roiland’s Gloop World, Dominion X with Steve Aoki, a web3 documentary featuring NOUNS, and series in development with Nickelodeon, HBO Max, Adult Swim, Disney, and Hulu."

The new Nickelodeon show Stoopid Buddy Stoodios is currently working on is currently under wraps, however, the studio has previously partnered with Nickelodeon on a couple of projects, including Super Macho Fighter from Jorge R. Gutierrez, the co-creator of Nickelodeon’s Emmy-winning show El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera. The proposed show, described as a "a mat-slamming new stop-motion series for Nickelodeon" that "extends [Gutierrez's] love affair with Mexico’s pop/folk culture" was announced as being in development in 2013, with Gutierrez revealing "Super Macho Fighter! Currently in development at my beloved Nickelodeon...," and a proof of concept (below) was produced in 2016, however, it seems like Nickelodeon has passed on the series.

"For this proof of concept we put together for Nickelodeon, alongside legendary animator Jorge Gutierrez, we made sure you felt every bone-breaking punch and soul-sucking slam between wrestling villain Lord Rasputin and heroic foil, Boom Boom Savage. A stop-motion production with the vibes of an early 2000s Nickelodeon program, this heart-pounding match will leave you on the edge of your seat" noted Stoopid Buddy Stoodios.

The studio also produced a stop-motion music video titled "Fruit Song" for Nick Jr.'s Yo Gabba Gabba!.

Nickelodeon to Premiere New 'SpongeBob' Holiday Special 'Twas The Night Before Spongemas' on December 22

Things are getting festive in Bikini Bottom this holiday season as Nickelodeon will be premiering the brand new SpongeBob SquarePants holiday special "Twas The Night Before Spongemas" on Thursday, December 22 at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT)!

"Twas The Night Before Spongemas," on Christmas Eve, SpongeBob and his friends look back on some of the fun and less-than-jolly Christmas moments. And when Christmas morning comes around, they realize that what matters most is the loving warmth of the holiday cheer. (#876)
