‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ Game to Launch on Roblox Through Paramount and Gamefam Partnership

Gamefam and Paramount Games Studio have partnered to bring the iconic yellow sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea to Roblox for the first time. As part of the 25th anniversary of Nickelodeon’s beloved SpongeBob SquarePants franchise, the new game “SpongeBob Simulator” will be available on Jan. 26 to Roblox’s 70 million-plus daily users.

“Deepening the connection with fans of our hit franchises through interactive and immersive experiences is a key facet of our long-term gaming strategy,” Doug Rosen, Senior Vice President (SVP) of games and emerging media at Paramount told Variety. “We’re excited to let fans step into Bikini Bottom and participate in the universe in a completely new way, and Gamefam’s expertise in creating and managing high-quality and engaging Roblox worlds makes them the ideal partner for us to expand into new horizons.”

The first Roblox game built around the Bikini Bottom universe, “SpongeBob Simulator” is a collecting game where players can venture around the under the sea world with their friends. They will unlock and collect special “mini buddies” modeled after the series’ beloved supporting cast, such as snails, jellyfish and mini versions of the characters. Users will be able to transform into characters like SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star and Squidward Tentacles. They will also be able to explore some under the sea areas like Conch Street and eventually, Goo Lagoon and Kelp Forest.

“Gamefam’s ultimate goal is to bring joy to players, and through this amazing partnership with the Paramount team, we turned one of the most beloved animated franchises into one of the most visually stunning games ever released on Roblox. Millions of existing and new SpongeBob SquarePants fans will be able to actively immerse themselves in Bikini Bottom like never before,” Gamefam’s chief business officer Ricardo Briceno said in a statement.

This marks the latest collaboration between Paramount and Gamefam, following their “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Battle Tycoon” game on Roblox — which has attracted 20 million players — to support the film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.

“SpongeBob Simulator” will be available for free on Roblox via most platforms and devices.

BURBANK, Calif.–January 17, 2024–Nickelodeon today revealed the line-up of guest stars breathing life into original characters who make up the hilarious and unique world of Rock Paper Scissors and the all-new trailer and key art for the original series, debuting Monday, February 12, at 5:30 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon. The series will also premiere in several Nickelodeon international markets beginning in February 2024.


The all-new Annie Award-nominated series will guest star Grammy Award-winner Alessia Cara (The Willoughbys) as the famous pop star Lolly; Emmy and Golden Globe-nominee Jason Alexander (Star Trek: Prodigy, Seinfeld) as the greatest fart joke comedian of all time Jonathan FartJoke; Isabela Merced (100 Things to Do Before High School, Dora and the Lost City of Gold) as the trio’s hulking vehicle The Susan – a hybrid of bicycle, hot rod and hot-air balloon; and Carla Gugino (Spy Kids) as The Birthday Cop.

Additional voices joining the series include Lauren Ash (Superstore) as Paper’s action movie star sister Sandpaper, J.P. Karliak (New Looney Tunes, TrollsTopia) as The Convenient News Reporter, Eugene Cordero (Star Trek: Lower Decks) as Putty, Diedrich Bader (The Drew Carey Show) as Chad BrockChad and Ray Chase (Good Night World, Jujutsu Kaisen) as Logan of The Rat Bros.

“Rock Paper Scissors started as an idea in Nickelodeon’s Intergalactic Shorts Program and quickly formed into a hilarious buddy comedy about the big and small hijinks of roommates Rock, Paper and Scissors, and the colorful characters in their world,” said Kari Kim, Vice President of Animation Development. “At its core, the original animated series is about the power and joy of friendship.”

The brand-new animated comedy stars already announced Ron Funches (Trolls, Trolls Band Together) as Rock, the member of the trio with the biggest heart and moral compass; Thomas Lennon (Zoey 102, 17 Again, Reno 911!) as Paper, the wannabe intellectual who dreams of being a famous inventor; and Carlos Alazraqui (Rocko’s Modern Life, Reno 911!) as Scissors, who acts overly confident and always wants to be cool. The series also stars Melissa Villaseñor (Saturday Night Live) as Pencil, the trio’s incredibly smart neighbor down the hall and Eddie Pepitone (The Muppets, Old School) as Lou, the angry landlord, who is also a garbage can.

In the half-hour premiere episode, “Scissors Gets a Job,” Scissors tries to become a janitor after he runs out of money but discovers that the job involves way more skill than he initially thought. Meanwhile, Rock and Paper try to motivate Scissors in an unusual way.  Episodes will continue to rollout weekdays at 5:30 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.

Ahead of the premiere, and after Nickelodeon’s Super Bowl telecast on Sunday, February 11, at 7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET, fans can watch a sneak peek of “The Fart Joke Debate,” where Rock, Scissors and Pencil set out to find a fart joke that will make Paper laugh after they discover his dislike for them, and “The First Lou Episode,” where the trio attempts to get their landlord to lower their rent by trying to help him achieve his impossible dream.

In addition to hysterical shorts and clips, full episodes are available to watch now, including “The Birthday Police” and “Paper’s Big Lie.” There will also be a special “Lights, Camera, Rock, Paper, Scissors!,” where the trio give us an exclusive look at their new, exciting show airing on Monday, February 5, at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.

Rock Paper Scissors follows the wacky shenanigans and nonsensical adventures of the titular characters – a trio of best friends and roommates who lovingly compete over everything in sometimes laughable but mostly wildly absurd ways.

Originally launched in 2019 as a short, Rock Paper Scissors was greenlit for series from Nickelodeon’s Intergalactic Shorts Program. Created by Kyle Stegina (Robot Chicken) and Josh Lehrman (Robot Chicken), the series is produced by Nickelodeon Animation. Stegina and Lehrman serve as executive producers along with Conrad Vernon (Sausage Party) and Bob Boyle (The Fairly OddParents). Development is overseen by Nickelodeon Animation’s Kari Kim, Vice President of Animation Development and Daniel Wineman, Vice President of Original Animation Development. The series is overseen by Executive in Charge, Jason Oliveri.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. – January 16, 2024 – The Louds are back! Nickelodeon today announced a special premiere for its hit live-action series The Really Loud House. The hour-long premiere titled, “A Musical to Remember,” is set to premiere on February 19 on Nickelodeon and will be followed by a soundtrack release. Additionally, the second season of The Really Loud House will return with brand-new episodes on February 28 on Nickelodeon.


In “A Musical to Remember,” Lincoln Loud and his best friend Clyde McBride’s plans go awry when Lincoln accidentally eats some memory-erasing jellybeans. After learning that music can help jog a person’s memory, the Louds work together to bring Lincoln’s memory back before it’s too late. Watch the special premiere event Monday, February 19 at 7 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.

The Really Loud House: A Musical to Remember

Featuring all-new original songs and medleys performed by Lincoln, Clyde and the Loud family, including “We’re the Louds,” “Too Sad to Rock,” “Clincoln McCloud” and more, the 20-soundtrack album will be available to stream on all major streaming platforms starting February 19 at 9 p.m. PT / February 20 at 12 a.m. ET.

Season two of The Really Loud House will feature even more hilarious adventures in the town of Royal Woods. Follow the comedic chaos of the Loud family as their kitchen mysteriously catches on fire, Lincoln and Clyde end up in a hot air balloon, the youngest sisters attempt to go out and adventure on their own and more. Based on the Emmy Award-winning animated series, The Loud House, and following the success of the hit live-action movies A Loud House Christmas and A Really Haunted Loud House, season two premieres Wednesday, February 28 at 7 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.

The Really Loud House series is executive produced by Tim Hobert (The Middle, Scrubs, Community), who is also showrunner.
