The Sit-Down: Kel Mitchell | CBS Local News

The Sit-Down: Kel Mitchell | CBS Local News

Kel Mitchell talks with CBS Local's DJ Sixsmith about his new show on MTV Deliciousness with Tiffani Thiessen (Saved by the Bell), Angela Kinsey and Tim Chantarangsu. Mitchell also discusses All That, Good Burger and Kenan & Kel, so don't touch that dial or leave the room!

Rob Dyrdek Made One of Kel Mitchell’s Childhood Dreams Come True

Nickelodeon star Kel Mitchell is a panelist on the new MTV series Deliciousness. Showbiz Cheat Sheet spoke to Mitchell over Zoom to talk about his role on the viral video series and how the show’s creator, Rob Dyrdek, helped Mitchell achieve one of his childhood dreams.

Rob Dyrdek is back with another hilarious show, ‘Deliciousness’

In 2011, MTV debuted Ridiculousness. From comedic genius Dyrdek, the show highlights some of the internet’s most viral clips with the help of a hilarious panel. Now, just in time for the holidays, Dyrdek brings fans an entirely new show solely focused on food blunders.

“The only thing people love more than delicious food is delicious food fails,” says the promo. The Ridiculousness spinoff is hosted by Saved by the Bell star Tiffani Thiessen. Joining her are The Office‘s Angela Kinsey, All That and Dancing With the Stars finalist Kel Mitchell, and Basic to Bougie co-host Tim Chantarangsu.

Kel Mitchell is excited to be part of ‘Deliciousness’

Mitchell considers himself a foodie. When he’s not dreaming about sweet potato pie, he’s in his backyard barbecuing or smoking meats, including his favorite — free-range turkey. Mitchell is excited to lend his expertise as a panelist on Deliciousness and get to work alongside Kinsey and Chantarangsu.

“They’re both funny, hilarious comedians,” Mitchell said of his co-stars. “Angela’s awesome. Tim, we know each other from Wild ‘n Out because I guest-starred. It’s just so much fun [working with them].”

Mitchel said they all riff off of each other really well, making for some hilarious moments. Ironically, that wasn’t the case at first.

“On the first episode, we [were] trying to figure [each other] out,” Mitchell explained. “But then towards the end of it, it was like, ‘Yo, this is great!’ We work well together and it’s fun.” Fans will see the trio hit their stride in the upcoming episodes of the show.

‘Saved by the Bell’ influenced Kel Mitchell’s childhood roles
Growing up, Mitchell was a big Saved by the Bell fan. As such, the series influenced much of his early career. One of Mitchell’s most popular characters, “Good Burger” Ed, was inspired by the sitcom.

“I liked wrestling back then,” Mitchell explained to ABC regarding his audition for All That. He created the character of Ed on the spot during his audition by combining his favorite things.

“I would basically take the Hulk Hogan voice and then the Bayside voice from all the kids of Saved By the Bell and mix it all together,” he explained. “So I just started doing that, and it just really worked.”

Thus, Ed was born. But Saved by the Bell was more than just an inspiration to Mitchell. Meeting the cast became one of his life goals.

Working with Tiffani Thiessen is a dream come true for Kel Mitchell

Aside from getting to work on a Dyrdek project — Mitchell called him a “mastermind” — Mitchell had an ulterior motive in wanting to work on Deliciousness.

“To work with Tiffani, too,” the actor started. “I’m huge, huge Saved by the Bell fan. I had a mission to meet all of [the cast] since I was a kid.”

Now, thanks to Dyrdek’s mastermind, Mitchell’s childhood dreams have come true. “I met the whole cast of Saved By the Bell,” he chuckled.

Fans can tune in to holiday-themed episodes of Deliciousness from Dec. 14 to Dec. 18 at 7 PM EST.

Kel Mitchell On MTV’s ‘Deliciousness’: ‘It’s Super Funny & The Videos You Will See Are Crazy’

(CBS Local)–Kel Mitchell has been entertaining audiences since he was a teenager on Nickelodeon and on Monday, December 14, Mitchell along with Tiffani Thiessen, Angela Kinsey and Tim Chantarangsu launch a brand new series on MTV called “Deliciousness.”

The spin off of “Ridiculousness” is an all food themed show that features Mitchell and the rest of the crew watching and commenting on everything from food blunders to restaurant fails. This show is for the foodie and the person looking for a good belly laugh when watching kids destroying kitchens. Mitchell is excited to working with such talented people and thinks this show will be enjoyable for all.

“It’s relatable. We all mess up recipes and try to make it right and we keep messing it up,” said Mitchell, in an interview with CBS Local’s DJ Sixsmith. “Even with me, I mess up the barbeque because as I was grilling, I was texting. Don’t grill and text bro. I was burning the food and it’s moments like that we can all laugh at together. It’s an amazing and fun cast. I’m a big huge fan of everyone and I was a huge fan of Saved By The Bell as a kid. I watched it every Saturday morning and it is cool to be working with Tiffani Thiessen too.”

“Deliciousness” kicks off with a one week holiday-themed slate of episodes. Mitchell has been working with ViacomCBS ever since he got his big break on Nickelodeon in the 1990s on “All That” and “[Kenan & Kel].” Those experiences will always hold a special place in his heart.

“Now I’m a executive producer of the reboot of All That and we have another diverse cast,” said Mitchell. “These kids are amazing and we’ve been able to give them good advice. It’s awesome. It was serious at the time. I remember at the time we started doing Keenan and Kel and All That back-to-back and also school. Keenan and I both wanted to stay enrolled in school. We wanted to have the full experience, until we couldn’t when we got too famous. There were some things to juggle, but at the time we were just super excited to be blessed to have this moment happen.”

Will the ‘Good Burger’ cast reunite? Find out in our Kel Mitchell interview

Kel Mitchell became a staple of 90s culture for many people’s childhoods. He was half of the legendary comedy duo Kenan & Kel as they became extremely popular through one classic movie named Good Burger. Seeing their faces on Nickelodeon always made everyone smile. That hasn’t changed.

Actor, comedian, voice actor, and more Kel Mitchell is back with a spinoff called Deliciousness. Learn more in our exclusive interview!

Come for seconds?
MTV recently announced a new spinoff of Ridiculousness, with an all-new food-themed, Deliciousness hosted by cookbook author of Pull Up a Chair & host of Dinner at Tiffani’s Tiffani Thiessen. The host will be joined by three panelists including Angela Kinsey (The Office), Tim Chantarangsu (Basic to Bougie), and Kel Mitchell (All That, Kenan & Kel).

Deliciousness will kick off with a holiday-themed special event from December 14th to December 18th. The aim of the show is to celebrate our greatest indulgences – food & drink. Helping to satisfy the foodie in all of us, each episode will showcase the internet’s most viral and entertaining videos all focused on food!

The return of Good Burger?
In a year that’s brought up a lot of nostalgia, it causes many people to turn to their favorite pastimes. Good Burger was and is a super funny, feel good movie. It’s not meant to be taken seriously and that’s why many fans fell in love.

Kel Mitchell discusses whether or not the beloved cast will return for a sequel. Hold onto your hats . . . the possibility is there! Kenan Thompson & Kel Mitchell have remained friends over the years and have recently been discussing the possibility of a remake. With their successful Good Burger popup last year, it appears fans are also on board to see the cast reunite.

All That and more
Kel Mitchell is so much more than the comedian and actor we grew up watching. He’s since spent time behind the camera producing and directing. In 2019, an All That remake made its way onto our screens and provided the perfect escape from reality.

This Nickelodeon classic was remade by familiar faces while also having Kel Mitchell star in and produce the remake.

What’s next?
Even with Good Burger 2 on the cards, the future for Kel Mitchell doesn’t end there. Since his recent casting news with Deliciousness, Kel has been in discussion to take part in even more projects after the COVID-19 restrictions ease.

Could we see a Kenan & Kel reunion? Kel Mitchell remains very tight-lipped, but a few hints may have slipped and we can only hope that they come true.

Kel Mitchell dives into his latest career moves in our tell-all interview. Would you want to watch a Good Burger sequel? Let us know in the comments.

“Deliciousness” Star Kel Mitchell Encouraged Cast of Nickelodeon’s “All That” With This Bible Verse

He hit instant fame as a young actor on the original version of Nickelodeon’s “All That.”

Now, two decades later, Kel Mitchell, along with his “All That” and Good Burger co-star Keenan Thompson, are executive producing the newest version of the hit sketch comedy show.

The actor is currently starring in MTV’s Christmas version of Ridiculousness, aka Deliciousness, which is airing everyday this week on the cable channel at 7/6 c.

The show, hosted by Tiffani Thiessen, features a panel cast of commentators who share their thoughts on hilarious food fails, which is inevitable, especially around the holidays!

Kel himself shared a few of his own pitfalls, as well as his Christmas traditions, in our chat.

Not only is Kel an accomplished actor, who manage to successfully navigate through child stardom, he’s also a father and yes…a youth pastor!

Kel successfully found a way to merge his Hollywood career with that of pastoral ministry, and even shared scripture with the stars of the new version of his show.

The father-of-four recalled the time he first met the teen cast, and felt God tell him to “tell them something you would have wished someobody would have told you.”

“I got in front of them and I said, ‘Remember that you were made great, when you were knitted in the womb. God made you great. So this show is not the thing that’s gonna make you great….you’re not your character. Know that you were great when you were born.”

The actor, who was a child star himself, further explained why he shared what he did.

“Because as child stars, you kind of mix it all together…”

He appeared to describe how child stars can confuse friendship with the business and work side of things, and might get confused if they’re not hired by a manager or director they once worked with.

For the full interview, check out the videos [on bravelydaily.com], and make sure to catch Kel all this week on MTV’s Deliciousness at 7/6c!

There has even been a Good Burger-themed pop-up restaurant, which offered fans the chance to sample Good Burgers and Good Shakes, as well as a host of photo ops, and the iconic Good Burger car has been faithfully restored. Famous fans of the movie include fellow Nickelodeon alum Ariana Grande.

There’s actually a Good Burger sequel in the form of a book called Good Burger 2 Go, where somebody forgets their change and Ed follows them across the country to get it back to them.

Nickelodeon Star JoJo Siwa to Star in Paramount Film ‘Bounce’ From Will Smith

Nickelodeon superstar, YouTube sensation, pop star, dancer, entrepreneur, and social media influencer JoJo Siwa will star in the movie adaptation of the book Bounce, Variety has learned.

Paramount Pictures won the rights to the novel following a competitive bidding war. Will Smith and James Lassiter will produce through their Overbrook Entertainment banner, alongside Caleeb Pinkett.

It's currently unclear whether Nickelodeon will be involved in the movie, however, its not impossible. JoJo is a Nickelodeon star, and Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount Pictures are production partners. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Nickelodeon and JoJo were working on a new movie.

Based on the book by Megan Shull, Bounce is a heartwarming story about a teenage girl who wishes she could trade her family for a new one on Christmas Eve. Her wish is granted and she finds herself “bouncing” into the lives of other girls and living Christmas Day on repeat — learning the value of family, finding your voice and the power of love.

Josann McGibbon will adapt the script. The studio is currently looking for a director.

While she broke onto the scene as one of Abby Lee Miller’s students on two seasons of Dance Moms, Siwa’s big break came with her debut single, “Boomerang.” She currently has 11.4 million YouTube subscribers. Siwa currently has an overall talent deal and consumer product partnership with Nickelodeon, which has seen her feature in the Nickelodeon Original Movie Blurt! and star in her own Nickelodeon specials and short-form series, as well as host Nickelodeon’s hit competition series Lip Sync Battle Shorties. She has also guest starred in a multitude of Nickelodeon series. Currently, her only other feature film credit is the animated pic The Angry Birds Movie 2. Siwa is repped by Caryn Sterling, Sterling Worldwide Entertainment and Paradigm.

McGibbon has been working in the TV realm over the past decade on shows that include The Starter Wife, Desperate Housewives and, most recently, TheFamilyof4. She is repped by 3 Arts.

Smith and Lassiter are currently putting together the Cannes package Emancipation, which Smith is toplining and producing, along with Lassiter, and Antoine Fuqua is directing. The film is currently out to buyers.

Shull is repped by WME.

Update (12/17) - Amber Rasberry, formally vice president of development for Paramount Players, worked on the movie.
