Kid of the Year Finalist Sammie Vance Has a Full Calendar of Spreading Kindness

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The founder of Sammie’s Buddy Bench Project is making her mark locally and nationwide.

13-year-old community activist Sammie Vance has a full calendar for 2022, with events to continue her mission of spreading kindness.

WANE 15’s Breann Boswell caught up with Sammie to talk about her latest activities.

She’s already been to the Indiana Statehouse, where Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch presented her with the Brilliant Firefly award for Hoosiers making an impact in the community.

Sammie is also a finalist for Kid of the Year by TIME and Nickelodeon. Sammie earned her top 20 spot, chosen from 5,000 nominees, and will be featured on Wednesday’s Nickelodeon special.

The nostalgic PBS program Reading Rainbow is kicking off the premiere of its live reboot by featuring Sammie on the first episode. Be the first to know updates as soon as Monday by registering on the program’s website.

Even with all the praise and recognition, Sammie still makes it a priority to expand her Buddy Bench project. The latest bench is planned to be at the Towne House Retirement Center.

Nickelodeon Films New Family Game Show

Nickelodeon recently filmed a brand new family game show series!

Produced under the working title Nickelodeon's Family Game Show, the casting call reads:

"NOW CASTING: NICKELODEON IS SEARCHING FOR SO-CAL FAMILIES OF 4 FOR AN EXCITING, NEW COMPETITION SERIES FULL OF PRIZES!

 

Are you a fun and outgoing family with 2 parents and 2 kids between the ages of 8 and 12?

 

Do you live in the Southern California region?

 

We are looking for close-knit, diverse families in the same neighborhood with high energy and big personalities — and an even bigger will to win!

 

This is your family’s chance to compete on a trivia-based game show (with some light physical challenges) while going head-to-head with other families… and you could walk away with fun prizes for the entire household!

 

If this sounds like your family, please APPLY TODAY!"

A second casting call reveals that the series was filmed between September 27th 2021 - October 8th 2021, and that casting was handled by City Media, who also helped cast Nickelodeon's America’s Most Musical Family.

Not much is currently known about Nickelodeon's Family Game Show, however, the casting call webpages also reveal that one member of each family would act as that family's lead spokesperson, and that improvisation is a required skill for contestants to have.

Nickelodeon UK Announces First-Ever Multi-Year Partnership with The Luna Cinema; To Launch 'The Nickelodeon Experience' in Summer 2022

Nickelodeon UK has announced a multi-year partnership with open air cinema specialist, The Luna Cinema!

Nickelodeon UK has announced a multi-year partnership with the market’s leading producer of open-air cinema events, The Luna Cinema, for the launch of The Nickelodeon Experience. The brand-new fully immersive experience, which builds upon a successful five-year collaboration with Comedy Central for its award-winning FriendsFest, will launch in spring 2022, before subsequently touring the UK and Ireland.

Update (6/2/22) - It looks like The Nickelodeon Experience may have been delayed a little bit, with the launch now set for summer 2022. A message on the updated website reads: "The Nickelodeon Experience will be touring the UK from summer 2022: London, Birmingham and Manchester. Further locations and dates to be announced in Ireland and Scotland soon."

With two distinct areas, the Nick Jr. Experience and the Nickelodeon Studio Tour, The Nickelodeon Experience will include multi-sensory, interactive zones where guests can step into the world of their favourite Nickelodeon TV shows, taking immersive kids’ events to a whole new level.

The Nick Jr. Experience will cater to the under-sevens, transporting young PAW Patrol fans to Adventure Bay, where they will meet Chase and Marshall, before going on their own mission to discover a Paw Patrol soft play zone. The Nick Jr. Experience will also include an arts and crafts station, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles underground lair, complete with a tunnel maze as well as a water zone inspired by the world of Nick Jr.’s latest animation success Santiago of the Seas, where fans will be able to climb aboard a pirate ship and participate in water play including magnetic fishing and boat races.

For children aged seven and over, The Nickelodeon Studio Tour will be a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes of some of Nickelodeon’s most popular shows. The tour will begin at The Thundermans’ School for Superheroes, where Nickelodeon star Kira Kosarin (Phoebe Thunderman) will provide lessons on how to acquire superpowers, before entering Henry Danger’s Cave, in which visitors will have to navigate through a maze full of hidden secrets. Afterwards, children will have to work together as a team to crack the code and find the key to get out of the Hunter Street Escape Room. Finally, guests will walk up the famous orange carpet before joining the after-party and enjoying Nickelodeon’s iconic ‘slime time’.

Additionally, children and their parents will be able to lounge at the SpongeBob SquarePants "Bikini Bottom Beach", where food and drinks will be available from themed stalls. There will also be a Nickelodeon Store. Bespoke activation areas and sponsorship opportunities will be made available to brand partners, both directly and via ViacomCBS Networks International's (VCNI) UK sales house, Sky Media.

Virginia Monaghan, Vice President (VP), Events and Experiences, ViacomCBS UK, commented: “We are thrilled to be partnering with The Luna Cinema to bring our hugely popular Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. shows to life through this uniquely immersive experience. This is a chance for children to make new memories with friends, in a safe and fun setting, and with their favourite characters.”

George Wood, Managing Director of The Luna Cinema, added: "We're hugely excited to announce that 'The Nickelodeon Experience' is coming. For a number of years, we've wanted to develop a truly interactive experience that allowed kids to immerse themselves in the worlds of their favourite TV shows, just as we do with Friends' fans at FriendsFest and film lovers with our Luna Cinema screenings.

"To have such an iconic catalogue of shows, including global brands like PAW Patrol and SpongeBob SquarePants, under the Nickelodeon umbrella is a treasure trove of content to explore and bring to life."
