- Saban Brands has reportedly trademarked the title "Power Rangers Ninja Steel" for the 24th season of Saban's iconic Power Rangers franchise, due to premiere on Nickelodeon in 2017! The name "Ninja Steel" suggests that Saban are skipping Toei's train-themed "Super Sentai" series "ToQger" for Toei's currently-running ninja-themed "Shuriken Sentai Ninninger" series, which premiered in February 2015 and marks the 40th anniversary of Toei's "Super Sentai" franchise. The story takes place after The Last Ninjer sealed away all the yōkai in the world. This lasted until The Last Ninjer's death, when the yōkai returned. His descendants, five cousins, battle the yōkai as the Nin'ninger;

- Zag Entertainment founder, CEO, and producer Jeremy Zag has announced that Zag Entertainment and Toei Animation are co-producing a 2D-animated Original Animation Video for its "Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir" series. In addition, series director Thomas Astruc confirmed that the OVA will feature the newer design of Cat Noir/Adrien based on the CG-animated series, instead of the design featured in the 2012 promotional video. The 3D CG "Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir" series debuted in South Korea last September, and premiered on Nickelodeon USA on Sunday 6th December 2015;

- Music legend David Bowie has sadly died aged 69, after suffering from cancer. Among his TV work, David Bowie voiced Lord Royal Highness in the "SpongeBob SquarePants" special "Atlantis SquarePantis". David has also contributed a additional song to Nickelodeon's upcoming "The SpongeBob Musical", due to make its world premiere stage debut at Broadway in Chicago's Oriental Theatre on Tuesday 7th June 2016! On news of David's death, former "SpongeBob SquarePants" writer Dani Michaeli posted this touching tribute on his official Instagram page, @danimichaeli12:

David Bowie did a voice for SpongeBob and was silly and fun when it would have been enough for us if he spoke the lines without inflection because Bowie but he helped promote the episode and spoke kindly about the show and it's terribly sad he's gone.

- A new tax on television advertising is being explored by broadcasters and regulators as a way of ensuring British channels that sell advertising in Ireland contribute financially to the Irish economy. The proposal is at an early stage, but it is envisaged that €10m to €15m could be raised annually by a levy on all television advertising. The money raised could fund the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) and be used to finance television production. The total television advertising market is worth €200m a year and more than 40 British channels such as the Sky stations, Nickelodeon, MTV, and Channel 4 stream broadcast advertisements for Irish viewers. The opt-outs are estimated to make between €30m and €40m in revenue each year;
