Nickelodeon Launches 'Nick Helps' Pro-Social Initiative

As part of Nickelodeon’s commitment to recognize real kids who are making a difference in the world, the network is launching Nick Helps, a new year-round pro-social initiative which aims to inspire kids to make the world a more positive place, and which will provide resources and services to partnering organizations that are dedicated to improving educational outcomes for children.

Beginning this month, Nickelodeon is teaming up with non-profit organizations including Jumpstart, WCS and Canine Companions For Independence to mobilize kids to participate in service projects.

On NickHelps.com, the digital hub for the Nick Helps initiative, users can find tips and information on ways to get involved in the community, and well as more information about the campaign and its partners.

As part of Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards 2019, Nickelodeon asked viewers around the world "How Do You Want to Help?". Voters heard the question, and Nickelodeon has heard their answer! Nickelodeon viewers want to help animals, and Nick Helps will help them help! Viewers can get started by grabbing your fan badge on NickHelps.com to help spread the word. Viewers are encouraged to talk to their families and friends about joining in. For one full year, Nickelodeon will connect viewers with projects, ideas, and organizations that will help viewers and your families be champions for good. Users can keep checking back at NickHelps.com for all the ways they can help, and together, we can make a real change. Nick is just getting started!

To kick off the Nick Helps movement, Nickelodeon partnered with Para Los Niños school in Los Angeles, California and Jumpstart to host two in-the-community events that are sure to bring smiles to hundreds of children.

In partnership with Para Los Niños school, Nickelodeon employees and talent headed down to the Los Angeles school to paint a radical Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-inspired mural for los niños!

In partnership with Jumpstart, Nickelodeon hosted a volunteer event for staff in their animation studios in Burbank, California on Monday, March 18th, 2019 to benefit the organization.

“Jumpstart is an instrumental partner on Nickelodeon’s Beyond the Backpack campaign, which addresses kindergarten readiness. We are thrilled that many Nickelodeon employees participated in the event, and stuffed more than 700 supply-filled backpacks for young kids in Jumpstart Los Angeles programs.” — Jean Margaret Smith, Senior Vice President (SVP) of Public Affairs and Administration.

These supply-filled PAW Patrol and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles backpacks will provide Jumpstart children in Southern California with the resources they need to succeed both inside and outside of the classroom. Thanks to the Beyond the Backpack initiative, Jumpstart are not only able to reach the children they serve; they are also able to provide parents from underserved communities with tips and activities that are critical to building kindergarten readiness in their own homes.

Jumpstart said in a statement that they are truly grateful for this opportunity and that they value Nickelodeon’s ongoing generosity as a proud partner since 2014.

Nick Helps builds on Nickelodeon's previous pro-social campaigns, including The HALO Movement and HALO Awards, The Big Green Help and The Big Help.
