Nickelodeon Asia to Premiere 'SpongeBob's Big Birthday Blowout' on Friday 12th July 2019

It's SpongeBob SquarePants' 20th anniversary, and to commemorate 20 years of SpongeBob SquarePants, Nickelodeon South East Asia will premiere the brand-new hour-long SpongeBob Birthday Special, “SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout” on Friday 12th July 2019 at 6:00pm on Nickelodeon Malaysia (MY), Nickelodeon Singapore (SG) and Nickelodeon Indonesia (WIB), and on Monday 15th July 2019 at 20:25 on Nickelodeon Philippines (PH)!


It’s SpongeBob’s birthday in “SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout,” an all-new mixed live-action and animated special which features for the first time the celebrated voice talent behind SpongeBob, Patrick, Mr. Krabs, Sandy, Squidward and Plankton playing live-action doppelgänger versions of the animated characters they voice! In the one-hour special, Patrick and SpongeBob journey to the surface world, where they come across a few familiar characters during lunchtime rush at The Trusty Slab restaurant. Meanwhile, the Bikini Bottom residents set up a surprise party for SpongeBob. The special will also feature special guest stars David Hasselhoff (Baywatch, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie), Kel Mitchell (All That, Kenan & Kel, Good Burger), Jack Griffo (The Thundermans) and Daniella Perkins (Knight Squad). Donning his famous lifeguard attire, Hasselhoff guests as himself in the special, where he runs into a little trouble in an ocean kayak and on the beach. Hasselhoff also notably played himself in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. His return is a special nod to his original performance for fans around the world.

The laughs keep on coming with the Best 48 Hours Ever, a ‘Sponge-athon’ with your favourite Bikini Bottom friends this weekend beginning midnight on Saturday.

Leading up to the special, Nickelodeon South East Asia treated fans to some of the best moments from the series between Monday 1st - Friday 5th July 2019.

Fans can wish SpongeBob a happy birthday by leaving a birthday message on Nickelodeon Asia's Facebook and Instagram pages using the hashtags #SpongeBob20 #HappyBirthdaySpongeBob. Whilst visiting Nick's social media pages, fans will also be able to find spongeriffic SpongeBob content, including a "Guess That Voice" game which asks fans to identify which guest stars voice it is, and SpongeBob facts.

GET READY for the ‘Best Year Ever’ as Nickelodeon celebrates 20 years of SpongeBob SquarePants with a tribute to one of the most iconic TV series and characters ever created.

Launched on July 17, 1999, SpongeBob SquarePants has reigned as one of the top children’s animated series on TV for 17 years.

The series was created by the late Stephen Hillenburg who was an animator, voice actor, and former marine science educator.

Along the way, it has generated a universe of beloved characters, pop culture catchphrases and memes, toys and merchandise, movies, a Tony award-winning Broadway musical, and legions of fans across the world.

The birthday festivities kick off with the premiere of SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout, an original mixed live-action and animated one-hour special this Friday at 6pm on Nickelodeon (Astro channel 612).

The special sees the optimistic SpongeBob and best pal Patrick journeying to the surface world and meeting familiar characters during the lunchtime rush at The Trusty Slab restaurant.

SpongeBob SquarePants is currently seen in 208 countries and has been translated into more than 55 languages.
