Peppa Pig Releases Christmas Charity Single 'Bing Bong Christmas'

Full schedule of Christmas activity to boost Peppa Pig

Christmas Jumper Day celebrations, a bid for Christmas number one and new seasonal ranges all part of activity.

Entertainment One (eOne) has a packed schedule of retail, marketing and licensing activities to keep preschool brand Peppa Pig front of mind with UK consumers this Christmas.

eOne and Westfield joined Save the Children, a global charity which works towards child poverty, protection and education for their eighth annual Christmas Jumper Day charitable celebrations. On Thursday 12th December 2019 – the eve of Christmas Jumper Day – Peppa Pig showcased her first Christmas charity single, Bing Bong Christmas, at special ‘Bing Bong Discos’ hosted at Westfield London and Stratford City centres as part of her bid to become the UK’s Christmas number one this year.

A donation from every stream and download of Bing Bong Christmas will go to Save the Children. Guests wore their Christmas jumpers while listening to Peppa’s new single and learned some new dance moves taught by Peppa herself.

Peppa Pig is top of many preschoolers’ Christmas lists this year and we’re pleased that our close partnership with Save the Children and Westfield has created an unforgettable event to celebrate Peppa’s first Christmas charity single,” said eOne’s Rebecca Harvey, evp global brand and marketing at Family & Brands. “We hope our efforts will raise much needed funds for a worthy cause this Christmas.”

Peppa's new Christmas single will see the popular piggy take on the likes of Robbie Williams, Bastille star Dan Smith’s John Lewis advert song "Can't Fight This Feeling", and golden oldies like Mariah Carey and Wham!

Addressing her competition, Peppa Pig voice actor Harley Bird told Metro.co.uk: ‘I see other people who are in for it like Robbie Williams – I love Robbie Williams but I mean, it’s going to be a bit awkward when I steal Christmas number one from him.

‘And all the John Lewis adverts, I mean it’s absolutely insane. We worked really, really hard with the entire Peppa album but especially with the Bing Bong Christmas, it was really fun doing,’ she added. Clearly in awe of going up against her idol – and one of her mum’s favourite singers, Harley continued: ‘We’re talking about running against Robbie Williams and I can’t get my head around it. ‘I am Princess Peppa, it’s going to happen.’ Robbie, 45, recently threatened to steal Michael Buble’s Christmas crown but Harley says: ‘It’s not Michael Buble he should be worried about.’

Peppa’s got a bit more pep in her trot after defeating Iggy Azalea on the US Billboard 200 charts when Peppa Pig: My First Album dropped this summer.

‘Oh my goodness, that was absolutely insane,’ Harley recalled. ‘It was Iggy Azalea and Lil Nas X, just before that happened, my best friend lives near Coachella and I was visiting her, so it was all kind of happening while I was in and out of America which was insane. ‘Could you imagine if Peppa Pig did a collaboration with Iggy Azalea and Lil Nas X? It would be the best thing,’ she said. ‘I definitely think it needs to happen. I love them both.’

To support the charity’s Christmas Jumper Day activity, Peppa Pig licensees including Penguin Books, Character Options, Ravensburger and Peppa Pig World are also selling bespoke seasonal products that will give a donation of sales to Save the Children as part of the Christmas Jumper Day fundraising campaign.

Star Editions is launching the first Peppa Pig online shopping destination.

This year saw Character Options’ Stage Play-set win a spot on the coveted Dreamtoys listing, while eOne has also collaborated with a number of licensees to produce a new range of seasonal gifting Peppa Pig merchandise to meet consumer demand.

Star Editions is launching the first Peppa Pig online shopping destination offering an extensive new range of customisable giftware products including stationery, plush, toys and games, as well as an exclusive range of Christmas gifts.

Enesco has launched new Christmas items for its Peppa Pig Collection including a Bamboo Christmas Eve Set, Christmas Bauble and Christmas Sack, while Signature Gifts has a gifting range featuring Peppa Pig baubles, Christmas Eve boxes, bone China mug and plate sets to retailers including Next, Studio, Very and Not on The High Street.

Roy Lowe has also created a Peppa Pig Christmas Family Sock Pack for customers to select their favourite characters and sizes to create the perfect bundle for every member of the family.

eOne continues to campaign to get Peppa Pig to the Christmas number one spot, with voice actor Harley Bird taking part in a series of national TV and radio PR interviews and an extensive social media campaign running through to Christmas Eve, Tuesday 24th December 2019.

Harley turns 18 on 10 December so if she does nab the Christmas number one, there will certainly be plenty to celebrate. Having voiced Peppa since she was five-years-old and with those adulting years finally knocking, is Harley ready to give up the pig? ‘I’m turning 18, I love Peppa and just whatever happens with it, I’ve loved being a part of it all,’ Harley explained. ‘Thinking back and reflecting, I’m still really young but it’s just thinking about starting Peppa was I was five and how much it’s grown and where it’s come from. It’s just really nice.’

Peppa Pig’s new single, Bing Bong Christmas, is available to stream now. A donation from every stream and download of the single will go to Save The Children.
