In South Korea, playing baseball without fans in stands has been part of the KBO League's season. Some leagues across the world have used all sorts of things to simulate a crowd. Everything from piping in crowd noise, to freestanding 2D cutouts, to even dressed-up mannequins. Now, the KBO League has come up with an even more novel solution - soft toys of characters from hit children's television series, including Nickelodeon superstar SpongeBob SquarePants!
Joining the SpongeBob plushes in the stands behind home plate are the Red Ranger from Power Rangers, Pikachu from Pokémon, Stitch from Lilo & Stitch, Winnie the Pooh, and Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse, among others - and with the smiles on their faces, they're having a wonderful time!
