Netflix's 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Casts Sebastian Amoruso As Jet

A new report reveals who Netflix's live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender has cast as the deadly Earth Kingdom freedom fighter, Jet.

Netflix's upcoming live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender adaptation appears to be adapting all the important storylines in Book 1 of Nickelodeon's beloved animated series, including the storyline involving a youthful group of Earth Kingdom freedom fighters and their leader, Jet.

According to Knight Edge Media, the Netflix series added actor Sebastian Amoruso to its cast as Jet. The half-Italian and half-Chinese actor has previously worked on Prime Video's reboot series, I Know What You Did Last Summer.

As filming for Avatar: The Last Airbender wrapped in June, Amoruso would have already completed his scenes. However, it should be noted the show is currently undergoing reshoots believed to last through September. The actor joins a cast consisting of Gordon Cormier as Avatar Aang, Dallas Liu as Zuko, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Uncle Iroh and Daniel Dae Kim as the ruler of the Fire Nation, Firelord Ozai.

Details concerning the upcoming adaptation are scarce, though a recent report suggested some if not all of the series' costumes will be relatively faithful recreations of their animated counterparts. Specifically, a report from the set of the Netflix series revealed Avatar Kuruk, who may see an expanded role, will appear in the same outfit as he did in the Nickelodeon show. There has been no confirmation regarding the costumes of the rest of the characters.

In addition, Lee previously hinted Netflix's The Last Airbender will be somewhat more mature than the animated series, comparing the adaptation to Book 2 and 3. He explained, "The first season of the animated series was geared toward little kids, but as the books went on, the themes became way more mature... And you still have that whimsical quality, but the themes were so much deeper and the character arcs were so much more mature. That quality is what they're trying to bring into the first season."

Avatar: The Last Airbender (also known in some regions as Avatar: The Legend of Aang) was created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The anime-style cartoon premiered in 2005 and ran for three seasons, ending in 2008. The enduring success of the franchise resulted in the establishment of Avatar Studios in February 2021, a division of Nickelodeon dedicated to projects expanding the world of Avatar. According to Legend of Korra star Janet Varney, the studio's first feature film will return audiences to the life of Avatar Aang and the characters from the 2005 series.

Netflix has not yet announced a release date for Avatar: The Last Airbender.
