Nickelodeon will host the network premiere of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run on Friday, November 25, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT)!
In the first-ever all CGI SpongeBob motion picture event, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, SpongeBob SquarePants, his best friend Patrick, and the Bikini Bottom gang star in their most epic adventure movie yet! When SpongeBob’s beloved pet snail Gary goes missing, a path of clues leads SpongeBob and Patrick to the powerful King Poseidon, who has Gary held captive in the Lost City of Atlantic City. On their mission to save Gary, SpongeBob and his pals team up for a heroic and hilarious journey where they discover nothing is stronger than the power of friendship.
From Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies, in association with MRC Film, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run is a United Plankton Pictures production. Directed and written by Tim Hill from a story by Tim Hill and Jonathan Aibel & Glenn Berger, the film features the voice talent of Tom Kenny, Awkwafina, Matt Berry, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence, Mr. Lawrence, Reggie Watts, Keanu Reeves, and Snoop Dog, original songs by Cyndi Lauper (The SpongeBob Musical), and a soundtrack featuring Swae Lee, Tyga, Lil Mosey, Tainy, J Balvin, MONSTA X, Snoop Dogg, Weezer, Kenny G, and The Flaming Lips.
The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run was initially scheduled to be released in 2019 before being pushed to summer 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic forced the movie off the release calendar in most regions again, with the film only receiving a theatrical release in Canada in August 2020. The movie was eventually released on Netflix internationally on November 2020 and on Paramount+ in the U.S. in March 2021.
