Nickelodeon Elevates Two Senior Executives On Consumer Insights Team

Makeda Mays Green Named Senior Vice President, Cultural And Digital Consumer Insights

Andrea Strauss Named Senior Vice President, Content and Brand Insights

NEW YORK – Monday, October 17, 2022

Nickelodeon has named Makeda Mays Green Senior Vice President, Cultural and Consumer Insights. Andrea Strauss has been named Senior Vice President, Content and Brand Insights.  The announcement was made today by Ron Geraci, Executive Vice President, Research and Strategic Insights, Nickelodeon, to whom they will both continue to report.

“Andrea and Makeda are incredibly accomplished researchers, who have the remarkable ability to distill both quantitative and qualitative data into clear and concise insights, said Ron Geraci.  “The innovative research work they have both shepherded during their time at Nickelodeon has played a crucial role in informing strategic decisions made across the organization.  I personally look forward to our continued collaboration as their leadership and expertise continue to keep us in the forefront of research for kids and families.”

In her new role as Senior Vice President, Cultural and Consumer Insights, Mays Green will continue to lead large-scale thought leadership and landscape studies on relevant cultural topics for kids and families and conduct qualitative and quantitative research that informs Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., and Noggin’s digital strategies.

During Mays Green’s 11-year tenure with Nickelodeon, she has played a critical role in innovating methodologies for pivotal studies, including  the creation of the landmark “Shades of Us” study, which she followed up with the “How Content Creators Can Empower Families to Talk about Race” study, which was created through a partnership with Nickelodeon, Noggin and OK Play. By employing a unique methodology of having kids and parents discuss real life scenarios to facilitate a discussion on race and racism, rich insights were gathered to help creators accurately and authentically portray diverse stories and characters.  Makeda has also been a key member of the Noggin Leadership team, helping to inform the educational and development agenda for the learning platform through the research that she and her team have conducted.

Prior to joining Nickelodeon, Mays Green served as the Director of Education & Research, Digital Media at Sesame Workshop, where she examined the potential of current and emerging digital media platforms to provide quality educational material to children and families.  She currently sits on the Advisory Board of Raising Good Gamers, an initiative developed to create positive change in the culture and climate of online video gaming for youth.

As Senior Vice President, Content and Brand Insights, Strauss will continue to lead the Brand, Consumer Insights and Content Insights teams.  She will also be adding oversight of the West Coast Insights group to her remit.  Under Strauss’ leadership,  insights across all demos and content genres will be created and delivered by a single unified team.

A Nickelodeon veteran, Strauss has spent more than two decades as a vital linchpin, informing the work of the brand’s Production, Consumer Products, Public Affairs, Marketing and Location Based Experiences groups.  Her extraordinary body of work includes revelatory studies like “Family GPS,” “Story of Me,” “Story of Us,” and one of Nick’s most topical studies “Shades of Us,” a two-year exploration on how race and ethnicity are impacting the current generation of kids, which was produced in partnership with May Green.  Strauss’ content-focused research has also played a key role in the development of some of Nick’s biggest franchises, including SpongeBob SquarePants, iCarly, Dora the Explorer and Blue’s Clues.  Most recently, Strauss spearheaded “Bridging the Gap,” a deep examination of content that resonates with the four to seven-year-old audience.  Also, she served as the chief architect in the creation of several research trackers that provide crucial information, helping the organization understand and contextualize current events, insights about the kid and family audience, and viewing habits across the myriad of platforms available to consumers.

Prior to joining Nickelodeon, Strauss was a member of the Strategic Services group at Grey Advertising, where she worked on new business pitches and premium consumer packaged goods brands, including the Dannon Yogurt kids’ products.

Nathan Schram has been promoted from director to VP at the studio, while Shannon Friedrichs-Higdon moves up to SVP of content and brand strategy for kids and family at parentco Paramount Global.

There’s lots of executive news coming out of the Paramount stable this week, with two key promotions in the kids and family team and a title change for marketing executive Sabrina Caluori.

On the content side of the media company’s business, Nathan Schram has been elevated from director to Vice President (VP) of development at Nickelodeon Animation, where he’s been working primarily on adapting book franchises and developing current series for nearly four years.

During this time, he has optioned more than 20 kidlit properties for Nickelodeon Animation, Nick Live Action and Nick Jr, along with developing concepts for linear TV and streaming.

Prior to joining Nick, Schram worked at LA-based Saban Brands, original home of the Power Rangers franchise and a major IP owner throughout the 2010s. He served in several key development and positions there, overseeing work on Saban’s TV series from greenlight to distribution.

In other news, Nickelodeon veteran Shannon Friedrichs-Higdon has been promoted from VP to Senior Vice President (SVP) of content and brand strategy for kids and family at Paramount Global.

Friedrichs-Higdon takes on new responsibilities to maximize the value of Nickelodeon across all international linear and streaming platforms for Paramount Global, including Paramount+ and Pluto TV outside the U.S.

She will continue to work closely with Jules Borkent (Managing Director and Executive Vice President, kids and family), Doug Craig (SVP of content strategy for international streaming) and the Pluto TV teams worldwide.

Friedrichs-Higdon’s current projects include Monster High: The Movie, coming this October to Nick and Paramount+; Transformers: EarthSpark, hitting Nickelodeon and Paramount+ later this year, and recent rollout Rock Island Mysteries, a collaboration with Fremantle.

In the marketing team, Nickelodeon has also bumped Sabrina Caluori from SVP of brand and content strategy to EVP and head of marketing and brand strategy. Caluori joined the company in 2021 and she now leads on-air and off-air consumer marketing, as well as brand creative and content launches globally on all  linear, digital and social platforms.

These internal changes come on the heels of Nickelodeon building its content pipeline with a recent greenlight for 2D-animated series Super Duper Bunny League (working title), which is slated for a 2024 US premiere on Nick Jr., and also a new round of its Intergalactic Short Film Program.

Nickelodeon and Paramount Animation Name Latifa Ouaou, Eryk Casemiro as EVPs; Claudia Spinelli as SVP of Series Animation for Big Kids

Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation are further aligning under president of animation Ramsey Naito with a pair of major executive moves, Variety reports.

Courtesy of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation Studio

Latifa Ouaou has been named Executive Vice President (EVP) of movies and global franchises for Paramount Animation and the Nickelodeon Animation Studio. Ouaou will oversee theatricals and streaming film content across both Paramount and Nickelodeon.

On the series side, Eryk Casemiro has been promoted to Executive Vice President global series content for Nickelodeon Animation. Casemiro will oversee animation series content for preschool and kids ages 6-11 across all formats and platforms for Nickelodeon Animation Studio.

“Latifa has an incredible resume and an incredible reputation,” Naito says. “The community knows her and loves her. She’s a talent magnet. She has great taste in material. And she really has worked in so many aspects of animation that she can really see a movie through from development through production. She’s just really topnotch.”

Ouaou was most recently with Illumination, where she executive produced such films as The Grinch and the upcoming Minions: The Rise of Gru. Before that, she worked for DreamWorks Animation as a producer, working on the Shrek franchise and Puss in Boots, and she co-produced Monsters vs. Aliens.

Casemiro was previously Senior Vice President (SVP) of preschool at Nickelodeon and most recently was an executive producer on the studio’s Rugrats reboot. He worked on the original Rugrats when he was senior VP of creative affairs at Klasky-Csupo Productions. While at Klasky-Csupo, Casemiro was responsible for the development and production of such Nickelodeon shows as The Wild Thornberrys, Rocket Power, As Told by Ginger and All Grown Up. He also led development and production of feature films for Paramount Pictures, including Rugrats Go Wild, The Wild Thornberrys Movie, Rugrats in Paris: The Movie and The Rugrats Movie.

“Over the past three years, we’ve scaled to such a degree that it really has allowed us an opportunity to pull back and reorganize and put in place two really fantastic lieutenants, helping to drive and continue to build movies and series,” Naito says. “Latifa and Eryk each have outstanding track records for developing and producing some of the most beloved and recognizable animated content for kids and families, and I am excited to have them take on these new key roles. Under their leadership, Paramount and Nickelodeon are building the next chapter of groundbreaking storytelling.”

Ouaou and Casemiro will report to Naito.

Claudia Spinelli, who was previously senior VP, Animation Department, will be senior VP, Series Animation for Big Kids. Spinelli will oversee 6-11 animation development and current series for Nickelodeon Animation, and she will continue to report to Casemiro.

The past three years have been a whirlwind for Nickelodeon, culminating in an explosion on projects. “About three years ago, when we started this new chapter of Nickelodeon, there were maybe nine things in production. And now, cut to today, having lived through the challenges of a pandemic, we’re now at nearly 60 productions across series and shorts and movies, comprised of theatricals as well. And last year, we had historical news with Nickelodeon and Paramount Animation combining forces under one roof. I think it continues to illustrate our growth,” Naito explains. “It supports and aligns our content plans for everything. It fortifies us as an animation powerhouse.”

Among the projects in the pipeline for Nickelodeon and Paramount Animation are the launch of Big Nate as well as production on another Lincoln Peirce book adaptation, Max and the Midknights; more from popular franchises, including a PAW Patrol: The Movie sequel, and new seasons of the PAW Patrol series as well as a spin-off; Star Trek: Prodigy, Baby Shark, Blue’s Clues & You and Santiago of the Seas, as well as Monster High, Transformers and Tiny Chef, which are currently in production.

“We’re planning to launch a whole new slew of shows, which I’m really thrilled about. And Big Nate is a big one. Big Nate is launching in on Paramount Plus Feb. 17,” Naito says. “Big Nate is … based on a book that’s sold over 20 million copies worldwide. Translated in 30 countries. So I feel like there’s not a fourth grader across the globe who doesn’t know who Big Nate is and isn’t excited about this show. The leadership on the show and the look, the stories, it’s just so fun. It’s going to be a phenomenal show.”

Another show Naito is excited about is Tiny Chef. “That’s with our partners Imagine. And Tiny Chef is somewhat of a phenomenon YouTube. Kristen Bell is also working with us on that. And then we have Monster High with Mattel and Transformers with Hasbro. So we’re super excited about all the new shows coming in.”

Other new series include Hamsterdale, Zokie Sparkleby and Rock, Paper, Scissors, which came out of the Intergalactic Shorts Program. Naito says shorts from the program will premiere this year, but Rock, Paper, Scissors was greenlit as a series. It’s created by Kyle Stegina and Josh Lehrman. “It’s really just a hilarious show about Rock, Paper and Scissors, who are characters that everyone’s going to fall in love with,” Naito says.

“On the movie side, last year we had four big successful premieres with Sponge on the Run, Rumble, The PAW Patrol Movie and The Loud House movie that we premiered on Netflix,” Naito says. “Under Latifa’s leadership, we have a strong slate of movies coming. She will oversee our development slate and new content coming in.”

One of the movies is The Tiger’s Apprentice, slated for February 2023. It stars Henry Golding and is directed by Raman Hui and co-directed by Paul Watling and YongDuk Jhun. Bob Persichetti, who was one of the directors of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, is a producer on the project.

Other movies include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Next Chapter, produced in partnership with Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver and directed by Jeff Rowe, slated for August 2023; and PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, produced in partnership with Spin Master and directed by Cal Brunker. Also under Ouaou’s purview will be the movie strategy for Avatar Studios.

For Nickelodeon and Paramount Animation, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. And it’s all happening while they are still 100% remote, due to the ongoing pandemic.

“I think the reason why we’re thriving is because our teams are so dedicated to their work,” Naito explains. “They love what they do and the artists are not only so incredibly talented at what they do, but they’re just great managers and figured out how to pivot from being able to work and do what they do in person to over Zoom. Which is totally different, a whole other set of challenges, but they figured it out. We all figured it out together.”

ViacomCBS Names Brian Robbins as New Head of Paramount Pictures; Exec to Remain President of Nickelodeon

ViacomCBS Announces Leadership Transition at Paramount Pictures

Brian Robbins

NEW YORK--September 13, 2021--ViacomCBS Inc. (NASDAQ: VIACA, VIAC) (“ViacomCBS”) today announced a leadership change at Paramount Pictures. Effective immediately, Jim Gianopulos, Chairman and CEO of Paramount Pictures, will transition oversight of Paramount to Brian Robbins, who has been appointed President and CEO of the studio in addition to maintaining his current responsibilities leading Nickelodeon. Gianopulos will serve in an advisory role at Paramount through the end of the year to help ensure a smooth transition.

In addition, Paramount Television Studios (PTVS) will now become part of the premium network group under the leadership of David Nevins, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Showtime Networks, bringing together the divisions’ premium scripted content capabilities. Nicole Clemens will continue to lead PTVS in her capacity as President, PTVS, reporting directly to Nevins.

As part of this transition, and in line with ViacomCBS’s previously announced streaming content leadership structure, Robbins will assume oversight of films produced for Paramount+ as well as continue to be responsible for kids and family content globally for the streaming service. Nevins and Clemens will also continue to serve in their current Paramount+ roles of Chief Content Officer, Scripted Originals, and President of Original Scripted Series, respectively.

Jim Gianopulos

“Paramount is one of ViacomCBS’s crown jewels, delivering some of the most iconic moments in entertainment for more than a century. The moves we’re making today will build on Paramount’s strong momentum, ensuring it continues to engage audiences at scale while embracing viewers’ evolving tastes and habits,” said Bob Bakish, President and CEO of ViacomCBS. “A passionate storyteller who takes a holistic view of the entertainment ecosystem, Brian is an expert at building powerhouse global franchises by leaning into the unique strengths of new and established platforms – including theatrical releases, streaming, linear, consumer products and more. With Brian drawing on his extensive experiences across animation and live action, and David overseeing Paramount Television Studios, we will build on Paramount’s incredible legacy and chart a new path for the studio.”

Bakish continued, “Jim is a towering figure in Hollywood who has successfully led Paramount through an extraordinary period in the film industry. From the wild success of the A Quiet Place franchise to the Oscar-winning Rocketman to fan favorites like Sonic the Hedgehog and Mission: Impossible – Fallout, he has overseen the creation of films that have achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Jim for his leadership in establishing a revitalized Paramount.”

David Nevins

Said Gianopulos, “I’ve been privileged to be part of this amazing world of film and television for almost 40 years, and at the heart, it was always driven by two principal things: the brilliant talent of storytellers, whose visionary expression excelled in every medium and whom I did my best to empower, and a fantastic team of colleagues who helped me make that happen. I’ve been honored to help guide the evolution and massive expansion of creative content, from the birth of video to global TV access, to the launch of iTunes, to ubiquitous internet availability, and now the streaming revolution. The opportunity to take the reins at Paramount and revitalize it, build first-class executive and creative teams, and restore it to both profitability and creative success has been a source of pride. Brian has a long and successful career, and having worked closely with him, I know he and the team at Paramount will have great accomplishments in the future. I wish them all the very best success.”

“Jim is nothing less than legendary in this business, and I am humbled and grateful to him for his years of mentorship and friendship during our time working together,” said Robbins. “I am excited about the future for Paramount Pictures, and I want to thank Bob Bakish for the opportunity to use this incredibly powerful and broad canvas to produce films for every audience and deliver them in the ways today’s consumers want to experience them.”

As President of Nickelodeon since October 2018, Robbins has overseen culture-defining content and franchises at the number-one entertainment brand for kids with a proven ability to successfully engage theatrical, streaming and linear TV audiences by understanding the power of each platform. Franchises such as PAW Patrol and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reach hundreds of millions of young people around the world through TV shows, movies and consumer products, while SpongeBob SquarePants has become one of the most popular animated characters of all time.

Under Robbins’ leadership, Nickelodeon has become a powerful driver of subscribers and engagement at Paramount+ since its launch in March 2021. Programming for young audiences, such as PAW Patrol: The Movie and the series and films in the SpongeBob SquarePants universe, account for a double-digit share of total streams, and the platform’s slate includes numerous highly anticipated releases from the likes of Nickelodeon’s Avatar Studios.

Prior to his appointment at Nickelodeon, Robbins served as President of Paramount Pictures’ Paramount Players division, where he worked closely with legacy-Viacom brands to identify talent and properties to be developed into co-branded feature films. Previously, Robbins co-founded the multiplatform media company Awesomeness in 2012 and served as its CEO. He also co-founded Tollins/Robbins Productions and was the Founder and President of Varsity Pictures.

Robbins has executive produced numerous television and movie hits, including Kenan & Kel and All That, the latter of which Robbins adapted into the Nickelodeon feature film Good Burger; directed the Paramount films Varsity Blues and Hardball; executive produced Blue Mountain State for Spike TV (now Paramount Network); and also produced the television series Smallville and One Tree Hill, among others.

Robbins is the recipient of a Directors Guild Award, a Peabody Award and the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ Pioneer Prize. He is also an Emmy Award nominee.

Gianopulos’s distinguished career in the global entertainment industry spans nearly 40 years. Gianopulos took the reins of the studio in April 2017, revitalizing the studio and restoring profitability consistently throughout his tenure.

During his time at Paramount, Gianopulos has been responsible for creating and restoring massively successful franchises including A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II, with more films in the works; Sonic the Hedgehog, with a sequel slated for release next year; Mission: Impossible – Fallout, the most profitable and critically-acclaimed film in the franchise, with the seventh and eight installments in production; the highly-anticipated Top Gun: Maverick; and Bumblebee, which marked a reinvigorated Transformers brand, returning the franchise to both profitability and critical acclaim. Additionally, Gianopulos rebuilt the popular Tom Clancy franchise across both film and television and was responsible for the award-winning 2018 hit Elton John biopic Rocketman.

During his tenure, Gianopulos built a first-class team of film and television executives, including his hiring of former Twentieth Century Studios chief executive Emma Watts to oversee the motion picture group, as well as bringing on seasoned marketing leaders, including Marc Weinstock and Mary Daily, and re-establishing Paramount Animation under the leadership of Mireille Soria, among other key roles. On the television side, Gianopulos built Paramount Television Studios, with Clemens at the helm, increasing output to more than 20 shows consistently in production and on the air. High-profile projects in production include The Offer, about the making of The Godfather, for Paramount+ and American Gigolo for Showtime.

Prior to joining Paramount, Gianopulos served as the Chairman and CEO of Fox Filmed Entertainment from 2000 to September 2016. In this role, he was responsible for feature film production, marketing, and global distribution of film and television content in all media. During his time as Chairman and CEO of Fox, the studio had its most profitable years ever, and in 2014, Twentieth Century Fox broke the all-time industry global box-office record, earning more than $5.5 billion. Gianopulos also has the distinction of having championed two of the biggest film successes in history, Titanic and Avatar.

Gianopulos chairs the Board of the Motion Picture and Television Fund, serves as Treasurer of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Board of Trustees, and is a member of the board of the USC School of Cinematic Arts and a trustee of the American Film Institute.

Nickelodeon’s Ramsey Naito Adds Oversight Of Paramount Animation as Mireille Soria Exits Studio

In one of Brian Robbins’ first major moves since becoming President and CEO of Paramount Pictures, he has brought in one of his top lieutenants at Nickelodeon, Ramsey Naito, to lead the film studio’s animation division in addition to her current duties as President of Nickelodeon Animation. Naito’s new title will be President, Animation & Development, Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, with the expansion of her portfolio mirroring that of Robbins, who also remains President and CEO of Nickelodeon. Mireille Soria, President of Paramount Animation, is leaving.

“Ramsey is one of the savviest executives and creative minds in our industry,” Robbins said. “During her time at Nick, she has transformed and reinvigorated the Animation Studio division with her sharp business instincts, deep stable of relationships and unique eye for great storytelling, and I’m thrilled to have her bring her talents to this expanded role where she can further elevate our overall animation business.”

Added Robbins, “Mireille has been a driving force in building out a new, dynamic and modern chapter of Paramount Animation. We thank her for her many contributions to the organization and wish her the best in her future endeavors.”

With Naito at the helm, Nickelodeon Animation launched its largest animation slate in the network’s 40+ year history with over 70 projects at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio and deals with top talent and creators.

In 2021 alone, Naito, who was upped from Executive Vice President (EVP) of Animation Production and Development for the Nickelodeon Group to President of Nickelodeon Animation a year ago, has overseen the launches of such global television and film franchises as PAW Patrol: The Movie; the expansion of the SpongeBob SquarePants universe with The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run and two original spinoffs, Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years and The Patrick Star Show; Baby Shark; Blue’s Clues & You!; Santiago of the Seas; The Loud House Movie; and Rugrats, which was recently greenlit for a second season.

Naito will now lead a combined animation production slate that includes the upcoming Star Trek: Prodigy from Nickelodeon Animation and CBS Studios; Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theatrical motion picture, in partnership with Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver, and helmed by Jeff Rowe; original Avatar: The Last Airbender content stemming from the newly formed Avatar Studios, best-selling book adaptations Real Pigeons Fight Crime, produced by James Corden and Ben Winston, and the critically acclaimed Big Nate; Tiny Chef, in partnership with Imagine Kids+Family; an animated series based on Monster High, in partnership with Mattel; and an original animated Transformers series with Hasbro’s Entertainment One (eOne).

Naito previously worked at DreamWorks Animation, Blue Sky Studios and Cartoon Network, and is a member of Women in Animation, the Producers Guild of America and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Soria assumed her role as head of Paramount Animation in 2017. During her time at the studio, Soria was credited with ushering in a new wave of refined storyteller-based content, and was instrumental in the development and production of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run. She also shepherded the upcoming films Rumble, a sports comedy about monster wrestling based on a graphic novel; musical adventure Under the Boardwalk; and The Tiger’s Apprentice, based on the best-selling book series, among others. Soria also orchestrated a first-look deal with joint venture Animal Logic (Happy Feet) and Imagine Entertainment, with Imagine’s Ron Howard set to direct The Shrinking of Treehorn, currently in development under the deal. Prior to Paramount Animation, Soria served as co-president of feature animation at DreamWorks Animation, making hits like Boss Baby and Trolls.

Soria’s exit comes during a continuing reorganization of Paramount Pictures by new chairman and CEO Brian Robbins, who replaced Jim Gianopulos in early September. Emma Watts, the seasoned production executive only a year in her post as president of the Paramount motion picture group, was dismissed last Friday.

ViacomCBS Int'l Studios Names Chris Rose as VP, Production and Development, VIS Kids

The Nickelodeon VP will also lead production and development for VIS Kids.

Chris Rose (pictured) is taking on more responsibility in a role expansion that will see him serve as Vice President (VP) of Production and Development for both Nickelodeon and ViacomCBS International Studios Kids (VIS KIDS), Kidscreen reports.

Still based in London, Rose will now focus on growing ViacomCBS Networks International’s kids content pipeline and overseeing all animated and live-action teams for VIS Kids and Nick International. Rose will also lead production and development across the UK, and work closely with teams in Latin America; Europe, Middle East, Africa & Asia (EMEAA); and Israel. He reports to Nina Hahn, head of VIS KIDS and Senior Vice President (SVP) of production and development for Nickelodeon International and head of ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS) Kids.

VIS plans to develop more than 30 new kids’ shows over the next three years, for ViacomCBS’s platforms – which include Nickelodeon, Paramount+, Channel 5 in the UK – and third parties.

Joining Rose’s team as manager of production and development is Adam Bailey, who previously headed up animation development for Welsh studio Cloth Cat Animation. Bailey will support Rose in identifying new IPs and talent for Nickelodeon.

Charly Valentine, VP of live-action production and development for Nickelodeon International, will also now report to Rose.

With more than 20 years of experience in broadcasting, development and production, Rose joined Nickelodeon from Beano Studios in 2018 and has since secured several key projects and talent.

Since joining Nickelodeon, Rose has taken on management of the global animated shorts program, resulting in Sharkdog—VIS’s first animated series for Netflix to originate outside of the US. He also leads production on The Twisted Timeline of Sammy & Raj, the division’s first collaboration with Viacom18 in India. He has also led on the delivery of Ollie’s Pack.

Earlier in his career, Rose held various content, acquisitions and development positions at CBeebies, HIT Entertainment, ABC Australia and Beano.

Prior to joining ABC down under in 2012, Rose had worked as VP of development and programming at UK-based Hit Entertainment since 2008, after holding acquisitions roles at the BBC during nearly a decade at the UK pubcaster. Rose has contributed to the development and production of several series, including The Deep, Bluey, Little Lunch and Mike the Knight over the years.

VIS launched its kids division in late 2020 with Nina Hahn at the helm. The plan for the studio in 2021 is to expand its global kids content pipeline to produce short- and long-form content for a broader range of channels and platforms than just those in the ViacomCBS portfolio.

Rose said: “It’s a privilege to now lead the development and production of live-action and animated content for VIS Kids and Nickelodeon International. As we continue our legacy of building first-class kids content, I look forward to deepening existing relationships and seizing new opportunities to work with innovative, diverse creators and producers in the UK kids content sphere and around the world.”

Hahn commented: “We are focused on establishing VIS Kids as a world-class kids content powerhouse as we continue to create and source prime content for our brands and partners, across all formats. We are a proven leader in this space and an expert in the ‘hit-making’ process, and I’m confident Chris’s newly expanded role will bring a wealth of knowledge to our studio business as we further establish ourselves in the kids’ arena.”

Rose and Valentine will be taking part in several panels at Kidscreen Summit 2021.
