DoSomething.org Joins Forces With Mentor Up And Nickelodeon Star Victoria Justice To Lift Spirits This Valentine's Day

DoSomething.org, a non-profit organization with the goal of motivating young people to take action around social changes through national campaigns and grants for projects that make an impact, has announced in the following press release, from PRNewswire, the exciting news that they have joined forces with Mentor Up, a new way to make a difference by AARP Foundation, to launch Love Letters, a brand-new pro-social initiative which aims to encourage teens to make handmade Valentine's Day cards to lift the spirits of older adults across the country during a peak time of isolation and depression. The handmade cards will be delivered to Meals on Wheels clients across the USA.

"Wallykazam!" is Nickelodeon's first literacy show for preschoolers that embeds the curriculum into a rich narrative story, with the goal of helping kids fall in love with words and inspiring them to read. The original comedy follows the adventures of a boy named Wally Trollman and his pet dragon, Norville. Wally has a magic stick that makes words come to life and playfully transforms the world around him.

"Blaze and the Monster Machines", a original CG-animated series introduces preschoolers to the areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). This is the first preschool show that features a curriculum dedicated to all areas of STEM. Viewers will join an eight-year-old boy named AJ and his incredible monster truck Blaze on super-sized adventures. AJ and the viewer help Blaze as they explore the physics of how things move, master mathematics and discover how everyday technologies work. The series, which received a 20-episode order, will debut on Nickelodeon USA in 2014. Royal Mail celebrates classic children's TV with special stamp set

Full set features 12 iconic characters including Andy Pander, Ivor the Engine, Dougal, Windy Miller, Mr Benn, Great Uncle Bulgaria and Bagpuss

Royal Mail is celebrating over 60 years of classic children's TV with a special stamp programme.

The full set of stamps features 12 iconic characters including Andy Pander, Ivor the Engine, Dougal, Windy Miller, Mr Benn, Great Uncle Bulgaria, Bagpuss, Paddington Bear, Postman Pat, Bob the Builder, Peppa Pig and Shaun the Sheep.

This year is an appropriate time to launch the special set as 2014 marks the 40th anniversary of Bagpuss' television debut and the 50th anniversary of The Magic Roundabout.

2014 will also welcome big screen adventures for Postman Pat and Paddington Bear, while 2015 will see The Wombles return to TV in the form of a new CGI series.

“For over 60 years, Britain’s children’s TV characters have brought cheer to generations of viewers," said Andrew Hammond, Royal Mail Stamps.

"More importantly it has presented us with a cast of characters that, like the memories of the programmes themselves, remain with us throughout our lives.

”It feels appropriate to celebrate all of these unforgettable characters on a set of very special stamps.”

The stamps are available from January 7th online at www.royalmail.com/childrenstv, by phone on 08457 641 641 and in 10,000 Post Offices throughout the UK.
