Matt Shively Hints at 'True Jackson VP' Reboot

Could we be one step closer to a True Jackson VP reboot?

Earlier this year, Keke Palmer set the internet on fire when she teased that a True Jackson VP revival was in the works, captioning a TikTok video with "When they cancelled True Jackson VP prematurely just to reboot it in 2021."

Cut to today, and Nickelodeon has posted two True Jackson VP-themed posts on Instagram in a matter of hours, with Keke's co-star Matt Shively commentating in one saying "I SMELL A REBOOT!!! @keke @ashleyargota9 @robbieamell"!

True Jackson VP tells the story of a 15-year-old girl who is randomly hired by a fashion mogul to serve as the Vice President of his company's youth clothing line, and the subsequent wacky hijinks that ensue. The series premiered on Nickelodeon in November 2018, running for three seasons and 60 episodes before coming to an end in August 2011.

Created by Andy Gordon, the series also starred Ashley Argota as Lulu, Matt Shively as Ryan, Danielle Bisutti as Amanda, Robbie Amell as Jimmy, Greg Proops as Max Madigan, Ron Butler as receptionist Oscar, and Dan Kopelman as Kopelman.

Nickelodeon’s JoJo Siwa D.R.E.A.M. The Tour to Resume Touring During Summer 2021

After being postponed due to the on-going global COVID-19 (coronavirus), Nickelodeon and AEG Presents has announced the bow-tastic news that JoJo Siwa's Nickelodeon’s JoJo Siwa D.R.E.A.M. The Tour has been rescheduled for summer 2021!

"JoJo is really looking forward to getting back on the road. All tickets for the original shows will be honored at the rescheduled dates. You will receive an email notification from the ticketing company soon that includes information on how to request a refund if you are unable to attend the rescheduled date," a statement from the tour says on its official website, https://www.jojodreamtour.com.

Most shows will feature special guests, country music mother-daughter duo The Belles (Kelli and her mom Jaymie).

Tickets to each show are available for purchase at https://www.jojodreamtour.com. For more information about the rescheduled dates, visit https://rescheduled.aegpresents.com.

‘Women in Animation Class of 2020 Showcase’ Call for Submissions

WIA launches special online program celebrating thesis and final films from Class of 2020 students who couldn’t screen works, attend career fairs or otherwise celebrate graduation due to COVID-19.

LOS ANGELES -- Women in Animation (WIA) has announced the launch of the “Women in Animation Class of 2020 Showcase,” a special online program celebrating the thesis/final films created by students who have graduated in 2020 at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

The Class of 2020 has been heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic; traditional year-end festivities, from in-person commencement ceremonies to screening celebrations and career fairs, were all canceled. WIA aims to virtually recreate the opportunities that have been missing for the upcoming talent and for the industry during this time. The Women in Animation Class of 2020 Showcase provides a platform for graduate films to be seen by animation powerhouses and recruiters, hiring managers, agents, and studio executives, making important connections for promising new talent.

WIA welcomes the entire class of 2020 to join this special program, no matter where they are in the world. The submission period will begin on July 13 and end on July 24, 2020.

In addition to showcasing the films for key decision makers in the industry, all film submissions will be reviewed by the following list of jury members for WIA’s “Class of 2020 Best Film” consideration:

Erika Dapkewicz - Sony Pictures Animation, film editor
Magdiela Hermida Duhamel - Latinx In Animation, founder and The Casagrandes - Nickelodeon Animation, production manager
Jay Francis – Disney Television Animation, VP, current series, and diversity
Trisha Gum - Netflix, filmmaker
John Kambites- Cinesite, producer
Sarah Landy - Nickelodeon Preschool, SVP of production and development
Ramsey Naito – Nickelodeon, EVP of production and development
Mark Osborne – Netflix, filmmaker
Joanna Quinn - director and animator
Wendy Rogers - Netflix, filmmaker
Karen Toliver - Sony Pictures Animation, executive VP, creative
James Tucker - DC Animated Series and DTV Movies, executive producer
Ronald Wimberly - author, writer, and designer

The jury will determine three winners; the films will be announced at the end of the program and those filmmakers will receive special opportunities to meet with the jurors online and to participate in live WIA Q&A sessions to showcase their work as part of WIA’s virtual event series.

“The Class of 2020 graduates have worked against all odds to accomplish what they set out to do. Some had to finish their graduate films in a shared bedroom with siblings, some had to drop everything and take care of their families, and others traveled home thousands of miles away far from their schools and classmates,” commented WIA’s chair of education, Hsiang Chin Moe. “The Class of 2020 graduated with a great sense of resilience along with the power to show the world how to truly move forward amidst trying circumstances. WIA is proud to support and promote the work of these talented recent grads by presenting their amazing work to key animation decisionmakers with this program.”

Craig Bartlett and Enjoy The Toons Tease 'Hey Arnold!' Soundtrack

It's safe to say that, so far, 2020 has been bleak, with the on-going COVID-19 pandemic - but it looks like there is some good news on the horizon! In a post on his official Instagram, Craig Bartlett, the creator of Hey Arnold! has teased a Hey Arnold! collaboration with Enjoy The Toons, a sub-label of Enjoy The Ride records which specializes in Vinyl Releases and Re-issues of fan-favorite Cartoon Soundtracks and Compilations!

Update (7/10) - Hey Arnold! The Music Vol. 1 was released on Friday, July 3 and instantly sold out! However, fans have the chance to win one of 10 copies by series creator Craig Bartlett and Composer Jim Lang, all whilst donating to a good cause! Click here for details!

It's currently unknown what the project actually is, but its a extremely good bet that it'll feature music from Nickelodeon's iconic '90s animated series. However, its not known whether it'll be a re-release of the songs used in the series and movies, previously mostly released on Nickelodeon's The Best of Nicktoons and The Newest Nicktoons compilation albums, or whether it'll be the jazzy background music composed by Jim Lang - it could even be both!

Meanwhile, on their official Instagram, Enjoy The Toons Records (Family Friendly Pop Culture Soundtracks) teased the project with a close-up of Arnold's iconic bedroom with the caption: "Some good news coming soon! It has been a long time in the making and finally almost here! We are excited so here is a teaser and be sure to follow @craigbartlett for some more previews in the coming weeks!"

Well, our vinyl release sold out immediately! If you missed it, don’t worry, another pressing is coming. Follow #enjoytheriderecords or sign up for their mailing list to catch it. Many people have asked when the soundtrack will be available on CD or Spotify. @enjoytheriderecords and @jimlangmusic got together last year to make this vinyl release, made the deal with #nickelodeon, and asked me to create a package design. It was a pure labor of love, as Jim and I have wanted to bring out a soundtrack for more than 20 years. Maybe this enthusiastic response will lead to more volumes on vinyl (there’s way more good music!) and in more formats. Meanwhile thanks for the support!
