Steve Burns From 'Blue's Clues' Wants to Know How You're Doing

Steve from Blue's Clues posted an almost entirely silent video that has 90s kids bawling

Steve Burns from 'Blue's Clues'

In the wake of the docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, kids who grew up watching Nickelodeon are reeling a bit. The documentary unveiled a alleged toxic culture of abuse and exploitation at the network, tainting 90s kids' childhood memories with disturbing behind-the-scenes details of some of their favorite shows.

But a beacon of light from Nickelodeon still shines in Steve from Blue's Clues. Steve Burns may have broken children's hearts when he left the show to go to college, but the beloved host has remained a wholesome icon for millennials and Gen Zers who watched him growing up.

In fact, Steve is still bringing comfort to millions, and his latest video on TikTok is a perfect example of how. In a one-minute TikTok, he says only a handful of words, but people are finding themselves tearing up if not outright bawling by the end of it.

What he does is actually very simple, yet the effect is profound. "Hey, just checking in," he says. "Tell me, what's goin' on?" And then he just looks and listens almost entirely in silence, occasionally nodding along. And if you actually go through the exercise of sharing what's going on with you, even just in your own mind, the compassionate listening he demonstrates feels surprisingly powerful.

If you didn't watch Blue's Clues, this may have felt weird or awkward, but Steve asking questions and then pausing for kids to answer is a hallmark of the show. The kids who grew up watching him are now in the Big Adult Things stage of life, navigating relationships, careers, finances, mental health challenges and more, and it can sometimes feel like too much. So similarly to Elmo's viral check-in on X, having a familiar and compassionate listening ear opened the floodgates.

"Not me crying the instant he asked," wrote one person.

"Not me sitting in bed at almost 3 a.m. in tears because Steve from Blue's Clues shows up on my fyp asking what's going on? The one thing we have left that is pure from our childhood," wrote another.

"I just cried for over 5 minutes straight," shared another. "I just realized no one has asked me how I'm doing in such a long time. I can't stop crying."

"I couldn't even get out a word all I did was cry, lol" shared another.

Many people shared that the Nickelodeon documentary had rocked their world and found comfort in Steve being Steve.

"After the Nickelodeon documentary, Steve, all I need is Blue's Clues to save whatever is left of this childhood I once had," wrote one commenter.

"Thank you for being one of the GOOD parts of Nickelodeon, Steve," wrote another.

"Steve checking up on the grown-up kids he left behind is another level of full circle moment," shared another.

"After the Nickelodeon thing we need our Steve now more than ever," agreed another.

And some commenters actually shared the things they are going through, showing why so many people need this kind of check-in:

"Life keeps handing me lemons and I'm not sure how many more I can turn into lemonade. I'm tired, Steve."

"Too much is happening all at once Steve, and idk if I'm getting through it but it's always good to hear from you."

"I lost my mom in January and I'm pregnant with my son…I'm lonely, Steve. I just miss my mom."

"I want to get sober but it's so hard. :("

"I could use a hug, honestly."

Hopefully, Steve's video helped some people realize they really do need someone to talk to so they can seek a therapeutic channel. Thank you, Steve, for giving so many grown-ups the cathartic childhood cry they desperately needed.

Drake Bell Says Nickelodeon Co-Star Josh Peck Has Reached Out Amid Abuse Allegations: “Take It A Little Easy On Him”

Drake Bell is asking Drake & Josh fans to take it easy on his former co-star Josh Peck after Bell alleged on Quiet on Set he was abused by former Nickelodeon dialogue coach Brian Peck.

After Bell revealed his experience with Brian during his youth, many Nickelodeon fans took to social media to attack Josh. Although Josh and Brian have the same last name, they are unrelated.

Bell has now taken to TikTok to say Josh has reached out to him and asked fans not to be so harsh on his former co-star.

“I just want to clear something up. I’ve noticed a lot of comments on on some of Josh’s TikToks and some of his posts,” Bell said in the video. “I just want to let you guys know that this is really, you know, processing this and going through this is a really, emotional time and a lot of it’s very, very difficult. So not everything is put out to the public.”

He continued, “But I just want you guys to know that he has reached out to me and it’s been very sensitive. But he has reached out to to talk with me and help me work through this. And has been really, really great. So just wanted to let you guys know that and to take it a little easy on it.”

Nickelodeon Denies Eye Roll Reaction to JoJo Siwa’s Coming Out

JoJo Siwa recently revealed how an unnamed employer "negatively" reacted after she came out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community in Jan 2021. Here’s what she said.

JoJo Siwa is firing back at a past employer with eyebrow-raising comments.

The former Nickelodeon star recently slammed an unnamed company for its alleged response to her coming out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community in January 2021.

"The company I work for told me they needed to have a meeting w/ me ASAP," the 19-year-old recalled in a March 22 TikTok video. "During this meeting, the PRESIDENT of the company negatively asked me 'What are you gonna tell your young demographic?' I took a second to process what I was just asked, and then, I replied…'the truth.'"

In the video, which features her dancing to Meghan Trainor's track "Mother," JoJo then shared the executive's alleged reaction to her candid response.

"I've never seen a man roll his eyes so far in the back of his head," she continued. "It was silent, so I started talking again. I said 'I'm not gonna hide who I am and who I love to anyone, ESPECIALLY to the next generation.' He didn't like that very much."

A Nickelodeon spokesperson told E! News in a statement that the incident did not take place at the company, which previously posted a message of support days after JoJo came out in 2021.

"We are unaware of what incident or meeting JoJo is referencing, but it certainly did not happen at Nickelodeon," the March 23 statement read. "We have valued and supported JoJo since day one of our relationship together and we still do today."

Nickelodeon also stated it has a PRIDE Capsule Collection with JoJo, which will retail in May with a portion of the proceeds going to GLSEN, an organization that aims to support LGBTQ youth in schools.

E! News has reached out to JoJo's rep for comment but hasn't heard back.

As for the Dance Moms alum, she said she doesn't have any regrets about living her life authentically. In fact, she noted that her journey has touched others who've related to her experience.

"Since I came out SO many adults say to me 'I wish I had someone like you when I was younger,'" JoJo continued, "which reminds me every time that I did the right thing and to never let ANYONE change who you are."

Even though JoJo did not explicitly name any particular company, she's previously been outspoken about her relationship with Nickelodeon. In April 2022, she revealed that despite being nominated for an award at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, she was not invited to the event.

"A lot of you have been asking me why I'm not at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards tonight and the answer is very simple: I wasn't invited," she explained in a video at the time. "I'm not sure why, but I just didn't get an invite."

She also criticized Nickelodeon in 2021 for its alleged treatment of her D.R.E.A.M. The Tour, accusing the company of banning songs from the set list.

"My movie musical [The J Team] was just released (with 6 new original songs)," she tweeted September 2021. "Nickelodeon told me today that I'm not allowed to perform/add any of the songs from the film into my show. These are MY songs, MY voice, MY writing. Does this seem fair??? There is no reason that this music should not be included. Working for a company as a real human being treated as only a brand is fun until it's not."

The superstar's recent words on TikTok comes as she celebrated the two-year anniversary of her coming out journey this past January, writing on Instagram that she was "SO proud of 17 year old JoJo" for staying true to herself.

"Now that the world gets to see this side of my life, it makes me really, really happy," she said in her message. "I've been happy in this land for a minute now. And now though that I just get to share that with the world, it's awesome."

'Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl' Developers Don't Want Any More 'Smash Killer' Comparisons

Since the game was first announced last year, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has drawn a lot of comparisons to Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. franchise. Most notably, many fans have called it a "Smash Killer," and that phrase often gets recycled when new fighters are revealed. Such was the case when Jenny 'XJ-9' Wakeman, Hugh Neutron and Rocko were revealed recently, and developer Ludosity has asked the game's fans to stop doing just that. Programmer Thaddeus Crews has said that while he's not personally bothered by these comparisons, they instigate conflict and cause ramifications for the team, and for the game itself.

"There's no real way to not come off as a buzzkill in addressing this, but the image this kind of message creates has been so thoroughly harmful to a degree that I can't just sit back and watch it happen again," Crews wrote on Twitter, adding "I strongly encourage finding hyperbolic absurdist statements elsewhere."

Crews went on to say that he wants to "broadly shift away from the implicit competitions those statements frame." While the developer notes that the comparisons started as absurdist, they've become "warped and cruel." In other words, he wants Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl to be judged on its own merits, rather than being negatively compared to one of the biggest franchises in all of gaming.

Player hungrybox commented: "As the dude who’s channel started this trend - I agree wholeheartedly," adding "in recent times I realized such a comparison sacrifices the uniqueness of the game for clicks while it bridged tons of smash fans to the game - it left a bad taste after the fact it deserved better than that."

It's not difficult to see how that could cause problems for the developers, overall morale, and even for the game's sales. Some streamers, such as Colin "IntroSpektive" Firth, have already pledged to stop making these types of comparisons in the future. Crews is well aware that he can't stop anyone from making these types of comments, but hopefully his comments will help people think about the impact these comparisons have had on the game and the team working on it.

It actually appears to be a video reaction to one of those characters that prompted Crews to take to Twitter and request the term Smash Killer be put to bed. A video during which YouTuber IntroSpecktive uses the phrase to describe new character, Hugh Neutron, as highlighted by Nintendo Life.

“Obviously I was over embellishing the Hugh meme and saying how he single-handedly made the game better than Smash,” IntroSpecktive Tweeted. They add that after hearing what the creators of All-Star Brawl said, they won't be making those comparative jokes in the future. Crews has also highlighted the tweet to point out there was no animosity between the two parties, just the devs voicing that they don't like the term Smash Killer and a content creator understanding that.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is now available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.

JoJo Siwa Says She 'Didn't Get an Invite' to Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards 2022: 'I'm Not Sure Why'

JoJo Siwa is clearing the air.

CREDIT: JOJO SIWA/INSTAGRAM

On Saturday (April 9) evening, the same night that the 2022 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards aired, the 18-year-old singer and actor addressed why she wasn't at the annual awards show ceremony in a post shared on Instagram.

"A lot of you have been asking me why I'm not at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards tonight, and the answer is very simple — I wasn't invited," Siwa said in her video. "I'm not sure why, but I just didn't get an invite."

The Dance Moms alum reiterated the statement in the caption of her post, writing, "A lot of you have been asking why I'm not at the Nickelodeon Kid [sic] Choice Awards tonight, I don't want anyone to think it was my choice not to go…. I simply didn't get an invite:(."

Siwa has a licensing partnership with Paramount Consumer Products for consumer products inspired by the star in addition to a overall talent deal.

A representative for Nickelodeon did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

Back in September 2021, Siwa called Nickelodeon out, saying the network was preventing her from performing certain songs on her 37-city D.R.E.A.M. tour, which then began in January 2022.

"I go out on tour in January. My movie musical was just released (with 6 new original songs)… Nickelodeon told me today that I'm not allowed to perform/add any of the songs from the film into my show," she tweeted at the time, referring to the movie The J Team, which premiered exclusively on Paramount+ in September 2021.

"These are MY songs, MY voice, MY writing. Does this seem fair???" Siwa added. She wrote in a follow-up tweet, "There is no reason that this music should not be included."

"Working for a company as a real human being treated as only a brand is fun until it's not," the star said in another message.

Nickelodeon later backtracked on their decision, allowing Siwa to perform a song from The J Team during her D.R.E.A.M. tour.

Siwa's post about not getting invited to the 2022 KCAs came about shortly after the star said goodbye to her signature long hair earlier in the week.

The Dancing with the Stars runner-up, who sported a signature high ponytail for the majority of her career, debuted her new short 'do on Instagram Thursday, simply captioning a selfie: "HAPPPPPY."

CREDIT: ITSJOJOSIWA/INSTAGRAM

In the photo, Siwa smiles at the camera as she shows off her short-on-the-sides, long-on-top style. She shared how she's adjusting to life with dramatically different locks in another post later that day.

"Yesterday I went for the like down and curly moment, but today I went for a up and back moment," Siwa said via her Instagram Story. "But let me know what y'all think, I think I might be into the up and back."

As she continues to figure out what suits her, Siwa acknowledged that she's on a path of discovery — and an exciting one! "I mean, it's gonna be different everyday as I'm still learning how to do it," she said. "It's way different than long hair, it's crazy, but I'm obsessed."

Siwa was nominated for favorite social music star at the 2022 KCAs, but lost to Dixie D'Amelio. Miranda Cosgrove and Rob Gronkowski hosted the event.

JoJo Siwa Calls 5-Year-Old Cancer Patient Right Before Surgery

JoJo Siwa chatted with a 5-year-old cancer patient before surgery, telling her everything would work out and she would kick cancer's butt.

Photo: Jason Bergenfeld

As you see in the conversation between JoJo and Blakely Bergenfeld in the video below, JoJo's a pro at putting her young fans at ease, patiently answering the little girl's questions.

Blakely's parents, Jason and Kimberly Bergenfeld, told TMZ that the cancer diagnosis was sudden, after the little girl began experiencing headaches and fevers during a recent family ski trip.

TMZ is told Blakely's parents took her to a pediatrician when they got back to L.A., and the doctor noticed her liver was swollen and rushed her to the ER at L.A. Children's Hospital.

Blakely's dad says his daughter underwent a series of tests, and that's when doctors discovered cancer in her kidney. She underwent surgery to remove a giant tumor on her kidney on Friday, January 7.

TMZ has been told the surgery went even better than planned. She had to have her kidney removed because it was close to rupturing and would have been terminal if they had not treated it in time. The doctors also found tumors on her liver and lungs, which were removed. The doctors will know in the next few days exactly what stage and type of cancer she has, but she is stable and past the first step on her road to recovery.

It's been a whirlwind few days - TMZ was told Blakely had appeared completely healthy before she started feeling ill.

JoJo got involved after learning of Blakely's diagnosis through Dance Moms star Kira Girard and her husband, who are close friends with the Bergenfelds.

Blakely is a huge JoJo fan and was supposed to meet her at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards last March before the format was changed due to COVID.

JoJo wanted to personally reach out to Blakely before she went under the knife, reports TMZ, even offering to help the family cover medical expenses.

NickALive! sends its best wishes to Blakely and her family.

JoJo Siwa Adds 'The J Team' Song 'Dance Through The Day' to Tour Set After Nickelodeon Previously Said No

JoJo Siwa confirms she is getting to perform new music on tour after all!

The 18-year-old entertainer shared a video on Instagram from tour rehearsal this week, and shared at least one new song that is being added to the set list.

“Tour rehearsals DAY 2 were a success!!πŸ€©πŸ™πŸ» Dance Through The Day is D.R.E.A.M. The Tour READY!!” JoJo captioned the video clip.

“Dance Through The Day” is the opening number in her new Paramount+ movie The J Team. It is one of the six new songs that came out with the movie musical, which was released this fall.

Back in September, JoJo shared on social media that Nickelodeon, who produced the movie with Awesomeness, was not allowing her to perform her new songs from the movie.

JoJo and her dancers kicked off rehearsals this week for the D.R.E.A.M. The Tour, which resumes in January 2022. Tour dates and tickets are available at https://www.jojodreamtour.com.

'Blue’s Clues' Host Steve Burns Joins TikTok

Move over Harry Styles, TimothΓ©e Chalamet, and Tom Holland. There’s only room enough for one modern-day It Boy and it’s clearly Steve Burns from Blue’s Clues!

Nickelodeon/@hioutthereitsmesteve/Nerdist

After breaking the internet in September with a stirringly informational speech to us all, then putting it back together with a hug, Steve is back again. And this time. Yep. You guessed it, Steve from Blue’s Clue has a handy-dandy TikTok. How could anyone be ready for this?

So far, Steve has only shared two video on his account, @hioutthereitsmesteve. But that one video has really taken off, and Steve has over 790 thousand followers at the time of this writing.

Steve's latest video is bound to bring a tear to your eye. Against sombre music (GymnopΓ©die No. 1 (Erik Satie) - Myuu), the video features Steve "listening", giving us the attention we all know we need.

I feel good about the chance of more videos coming our way. In his first video, Steve shares he honestly has no idea what TikTok even is. And asks for… clues, as it were, from the audience to help him out. But many episodes of Blue’s Clues have taught us Steve has a good head on his shoulders. I'm sure he’ll figure it out.

And honestly, fans are kind of digging that Steve is a little clueless. It really is adorable. And totally relatable. I also absolutely love his username, hioutthereitsmesteve. Though Steve didn’t bring his trademark green-stripped rugby shirt to TikTok, it definitely feels like the good old days. Maybe in one of his next videos, Blue can make an appearance. Or we can go looking for clues of some sort. We’d all love that.

It remains to be seen what exactly Steve will do with his TikTok. But considering Blue’s Clues featured a huge landline phone when it first began, this clash of modernity and nostalgia continues to be a fun one.

Hopefully, next time Steve will sing, “We just figured out TikTok, we just figured out TikTok, we just figured out TikTok because we’re really smart.” (And wouldn’t we all love to get to sing that one.)

Steve can next been seen riding the Blue’s Clues & You! float in this year’s 95th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade®, joined by Blue’s Clues & You! star Josh Dela Cruz and former Blue’s Clues host Donovan Patton. The trio will perform “You Can’t Spell Blue without YOU” on the float alongside a 22-foot-tall Blue covered in 13 pounds of glitter, on Thursday, Nov. 25, in the TV presentation.

JoJo Siwa Shares Her Frustration at Nickelodeon Ahead of Her Tour

JoJo Siwa claims Nickelodeon is blocking her from performing certain songs from her movie musical The J Team during her tour

Leon Bennett / Getty Images North America.

JoJo Siwa took to social media on Tuesday (Sept. 14) to share her frustrated feelings toward Nickelodeon surrounding her upcoming tour. The singer, who recently released her musical film The J Team on Paramount+, says that Nickelodeon — who produced the film — isn't allowing her to perform her own songs from the movie on her 37-city D.R.E.A.M. tour that begins in January.

"I go out on tour in January. My movie musical was just released (with 6 new original songs)… Nickelodeon told me today that I'm not allowed to perform/add any of the songs from the film into my show," Siwa wrote on Twitter. "These are MY songs, MY voice, MY writing. Does this seem fair???"

The Dancing with the Stars contestant continued to air her frustration in another tweet, writing, "There is no reason that this music should not be included. Working for a company as a real human being treated as only a brand is fun until it's not."

Following rescheduled dates due to the pandemic, Siwa's Nickelodeon's JoJo Siwa D.R.E.A.M. The Tour is set to begin on Jan. 13, 2022. The tour supports two of the singer's recent EPs, 2018's D.R.E.A.M. the Music and 2019's Celebrate, and Siwa was hoping to perform additional original tunes by adding songs from her new movie to her set list.

It's unclear why Nickelodeon would push back against the actor performing songs that she wrote, since the company was involved in making the film. But this isn't the first time Siwa has spoken out when it comes to her career. Back in June, she made headlines when she told EW that she hoped a kissing scene would be cut from her new movie Bounce, because she didn't want to "kiss another human, especially because it's a man." She later tweeted confirmation that Paramount had complied with her request and that the scene had been removed from the film.

JoJo first came to prominence as one of the students featured in two seasons of the reality show Dance Moms. From there, she has grown into a YouTube personality, teen entertainer, and arguably one of the most influential people in the world. She has hit songs, fills stadiums for her concerts, and has overall talent and consumer product agreements with Nickelodeon, which has seen the starlet feature in movies and TV shows and her name and face put on all sorts of products thanks to merchandizing deals with Target, Walmart, and JC Penney. Since signing with Nickelodeon, the duo have enjoyed a successful partnership.

In addition to the tour, Siwa has been busy preparing for the upcoming DWTS season where she makes history as the first female celebrity paired with a female pro dancer.

"They asked, would I be more comfortable with a female or with a male and immediately I knew for myself I would be way more comfortable with a girl," Siwa explained during an appearance on PEOPLE (the TV Show!) last week.

Update (9/17):

JoJo Siwa says her relationship with Nickelodeon isn't fractured beyond repair amid a dispute over her upcoming tour ... but she says it's gonna take a lot for them to mend fences.

TMZ got JoJo outside the Loews Hotel in NYC and asked her about Tuesday's beef with Nickelodeon. She says the network's blocking her from performing songs from her recently released musical when she embarks on a 37-city tour in January.

JoJo told us her problem is Nickelodeon treating her like she's just a brand ... and forgetting she's a person too.

When asked if she and Nickelodeon have been able to reach an agreement on her singing songs from The J Team on stage. "There has been a [response], but it's not on me to share," Siwa said. "I love my brand, but I think it's forgotten that I'm a human sometimes and that hurts."

Siwa's relationship with Nickelodeon isn't beyond repair, though. The performer said she thinks she can "of course" work things out with the children's entertainment company, but that she's going to do what she wants when she's performing.  "I work for Nickelodeon. It just makes me frustrated that someone is telling me what I can and can't sing, and these people have been at Nickelodeon for less time than I have. ... When I'm on stage, I'm going to sing whatever I want. I'm going to sing what I want. Even if it's a cappella, I'm going to sing it. I just wish they were as supportive of this movie as I was."

You can tell from her tone - JoJo's ticked off the relationship's gone south. She says she's frustrated folks with less tenure than her at Nickelodeon are trying to call the shots on what she can and can't sing.

Sounds like JoJo's hopeful they can still come to an agreement before her tour, but she also leaves open the possibility of going against the grain.

Watch her interview with TMZ.

Update (9/22) - JoJo Siwa Opens Up About Taking a Stand for Her Music Ahead of Tour:

JoJo Siwa is ready to fight for her music. Entertainment Tonight's Lauren Zima spoke to the 18-year-old singer following her incredible performance on Monday's Dancing With the Stars, and the teen gave an update on her quest to include music from her film, The J Team, on her upcoming tour, Nickelodeon's JoJo Siwa D.R.E.A.M. The Tour.

"Making my show the best that it possibly can be is what's important to me," Siwa said. "If I have to sing the songs from The J Team acapella I will very unhappily do that, but I will happily do that [for my fans]."

Siwa previously claimed that Nickelodeon told her she's "not allowed to perform" her J Team songs on tour, but revealed to ET that she was hoping for an update from the network soon. ET has reached out to Nickelodeon for comment.

"I think that, as an artist, I have a vision and I think that, as a human, I also have a brand," she said. "I think that it only makes sense to have this music in my tour. It's a part of me. It's a part of the brand. It's a part of what we are doing right now."

"It's honestly beyond me why anyone would not want the music from this film to be in the tour, but it is what it is," Siwa continued. "At the end of the day, I'm gonna go out there and I'm gonna do what I love and I'm gonna sing my songs. Behind closed doors, whatever goes on, that's what goes on."

Martin Delaney Reveals Campbell Morrison Was Originally Cast as Eddie on 'Renford Rejects'

Actor Martin Delaney, known for playing Jason Summerbee in Renford Rejects, recently revealed a bit of trivia about Nickelodeon UK's beloved football-themed comedy series!

Courtesy of Postcards from Planet Nickelodeon.

In the series, Alex Norton (Two Doors Down) plays Eddie McAvoy, the owner of the local cafe "Graceland" where the Rejects hang out. However, Eddie was originally going to be portrayed by a different actor!

In the original pilot episode of Renford Rejects, Eddie was played by late Scottish actor Campbell Morrison (Eldorado, EastEnders, Jeeves & Wooster, Dream Team) - and you can even get to see Morrison in the very first episode of Renford Rejects! At the end of "One For The Guys", after the newly-formed Rejects win their first game against the Razors, a "random" man runs onto the pitch to celebrate with the team, who so happens to be Morrison!

Sadly, Morrison passed away on January 10, 2008, aged 55.

At the moment, there's no way to re-watch Renford Rejects. Nick UK & Ireland used to air reruns during the early hours, but these have stopped. The show has never been released on DVD - although fans would love a DVD set! The series is currently not available on streaming services like Netflix or Amazon, however, hopefully when Paramount+ launched in the U.K. in 2022, the service will include Renford Rejects in its programming library.

JoJo Siwa Delivers Inspiring Message to LGBTQ+ Kids During 32nd annual GLAAD Media Awards

JoJo Siwa had some incredibly inspiring words for young LGBTQ+ kids who are growing up and still figuring out who they are!

During the 32nd annual GLAAD Media Awards on Thursday, April 8, the 17-year-old dancer and Nickelodeon star (who recently labeled herself as pansexual after coming out as part of the LGBTQ+ community earlier this year), presented the Outstanding Children’s Programming award to HBO Max's The Not-Too-Late Show With Elmo, and during her appearance, she had a special message for all the kids out there about how, at the end of the day, love is love — no matter who you are.

"If you want to fall in love with a girl, if you want to fall in love with a boy, if you want to fall in love with somebody who is a they, them or who is non-binary, that is incredible," she said. "Love is awesome. You can be in love with whoever you want to be in love with, and it should be celebrated."

The social media phenomenon also gave her girlfriend Kylie a special, and super cute, shoutout.

"I have the best, most amazing, wonderful girlfriend in the entire world who makes me so, so, so happy," JoJo added. "That is all that matters."

The kids are doing alright!

Nickelodeon's The Loud House was nominated in the "Outstanding Kids & Family Programming" category of the annual awards, which recognizes and honors media for fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of LGBTQ people and the issues that affect their lives. The series ultimately lost out to Australian drama First Day (Hulu) and Netflix animated series She-Ra & The Princesses of Power (Netflix). However, the fact that we're at the stage where there is a category honoring LGBTQ kids content, there are no losers here, only winners.

Watch JoJo's full message during her appearance at the GLAAD Media Awards in the video below. For more information about the 32nd annual GLAAD Media Awards, including a list of winners, visit https://www.glaad.org/blog/32-glaad-media-awards-winners.

JoJo Siwa Had the Perfect Response to a Parent Who Said Their Kid Would Stop Watching Her After Coming Out

It was just one word.

Nickelodeon superstar and social media phenomenon JoJo Siwa has a perfectly on-brand response to a parent who was less than supportive of her recent coming out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. As captured by the @commentsbycelebs account, an Instagram user wrote under Siwa’s video talking about her coming out, “My daughter will never watch you again.” To this, Siwa replied, “Okay!”

This is chef’s-kiss perfect. Siwa’s a star; it’ll hardly impact her to lose the support of one kid from one family. And if this parent thought their bigoted comment would somehow hurt Siwa’s feelings or change her decision to be open about her identity, then that’s just goofy. LGBTQ+ kids are brave and strong, and 17-year-old Siwa’s whole thing is being a beam of positivity, a pillar of fun. She’s not going back in the closet because you’re a closed-minded grouch, Instagram rando! “Okay!”

The only drawback is that the parent may be raising their daughter to hate people different than themselves, which just isn't on in this day and age. Hopefully they can learn that being part of the LGBTQ+ community is perfectly fine.

At the time that it was captured by Comments by Celebs, the message from the parent had over 5,000 likes, which is a little distressing…but Siwa’s cheery rebuttal had over 50,000.

In the video Siwa talks about how happy she is to be out, and how much support she’s received from friends, family, and fans. And the people applauding her are much louder than anyone booing her. Kim Kardashian, whose kids are Siwa fans, wrote on the original video, “I love you ❤️πŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œ.” Siwa's co-Nickelodeon star Jamie Lynn Spears wrote, “♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ sooooo happy to see you happy!!!!”

Even Nickelodeon is openly cheering for her. The official Instagram page for the channel posted a picture of Siwa with the caption, “Never been more proud ♥️πŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œ.” Nickelodeon has been a long-time advocate of LGBTQ+ rights, including featuring LGBTQ+ characters in their hit shows!

“Personally I have never, ever, ever been this happy before, and it feels really awesome. I’ve been happy for a little bit now. It’s just so, so, so awesome,” JoJo Siwa said on IG Stories a few days ago, per People. And that’s all that matters.

JoJo's living her best life, and no amount of bigotry can stop her! :)
