About Avatar: The Last Airbender

Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender emerged from its three-season run (61 episodes), from February 2005 to July 2008, as one of the most beloved animated properties in history. Honored with a Peabody Award and Primetime Emmy, along with multiple Annie Awards and Genesis Awards, the series follows the adventures of the main protagonist Aang and his friends, who must save the world by defeating Fire Lord Ozai and ending the destructive war with the Fire Nation.

In addition to the series’ success, the property has spawned into several bestselling book series, which continue to roll out new original stories. The graphic novel series most recently spent two months on the New York Times Graphic Books Bestseller list in 2020, and the young adult novels have spent 22 cumulative weeks on the New York Times Young Adult Bestseller list and have shipped over a quarter million copies. The DVD and Blu-rays are also incredibly successful, with the “Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Complete Series” generating nearly $38MM in retail sales since its 2015 release.

Paramount Plus Unveils 'Star Trek: Prodigy' Environmental Art

Just a few days after revealing the voice cast and characters of Nickelodeon's upcoming CG-animated series Star Trek: Prodigy, Paramount+ has now released four alien environments from the new show.

Shared on StarTrek.com, the latest Star Trek: Prodigy images feature stunning Delta Quadrant environments and planetscapes. They didn’t give details as to what the images represent, only that they are examples of what they call “environmental coverage.” Whatever the exact definition of “environmental coverage” might be, one thing it means is that these four static images will serve as fantastic backgrounds for your computer desktop or Zoom calls.

While the details of each beautiful digital landscape are minimal, we do get a sense of the quality of the animation of the series from these “environmental coverage” images. Check them out below.

The first image depicts two characters, presumably Gwyn and Dal, observing a night sky with colorful gaseous clouds and a bright full moon above.

Image number two gives us a view from space of a dramatic cloudy planet surface, complete with two large moons and a rising star.

The third image is of a desert planet with large, otherworldly cliffs and a blazing sun.

The final image shows an aerial view of some kind of planetary structure, a space station or city with towering spires and bright beams of light emanating in every direction.

This animated art design — with lush coloring and a dazzling depth of field — clearly puts Star Trek: Prodigy light-years away from the animated styles of not only the classic 1970’s Animated Series, but this decade’s Star Trek: Lower Decks as well.

Developed by Emmy Award winners Kevin and Dan Hageman and produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio and CBS Studios, Star Trek: Prodigy stars Rylee Alazraqui as Rok-Tahk, Brett Gray as Dal, Angus Imrie as Zero, Jason Mantzoukas as Jankom Pog, Ella Purnell as Gwyn, Dee Bradley Baker as Murf, and Kate Mulgrew, who is reprising her role of Kathryn Janeway from Star Trek: Voyager. In the series, Janeway will serve as the starship’s built-in emergency training hologram.

The series is scheduled to premiere on Paramount+ later this year.

'Rugrats' Fans Surprised to Learn Stu & Didi's Real Ages

Fans have been left shaken up after discovering the ages of Tommy's parents in the Rugrats.

The popular animated series originally aired on Nickelodeon from 1991 until 2003, although re-runs were common right throughout the 00s and beyond. The show also had three movies, as well as a few spin-off shows, and recently returned as a CG-animated series on Paramount+.

Whether you watched it yourself or had others in your life who did, you'll probably be familiar with a lot of the characters, who became popular characters for toys, posters and so on.

Two such characters were, of course, Stu and Didi Pickles, the parents of Tommy, the titular baby in the Rugrats. They recently went viral online after fans discovered how old the characters were supposed to be.

When the series premiered in August 1991, Didi was 32 and Stu was 33. Didi's age was revealed in a series 6 episode called "Junior prom" that aired in April 1999. The episode reveals Didi attended her high school's Bicentennial themed junior prom at Swift High School.

The U.S. celebrated its 200th year as an independent nation in 1976, meaning Didi graduated from school the following year at age 18 in 1977 and making her year of birth 1959. She was therefore 32 when the show started in 1991.

For some reason, everyone seemed to think the couple were much older when, in fact, they were in their early 30s. The debate started when one Twitter user said "just found out stu and deedee pickles from rugrats were 33 and 32 and now I’m upset."

The post had many other people freaking out too.

One person questioned how Stu was "33 years old, doesn’t have a real job, but could afford this mansion."

Stu is a toy inventor, so stays at home building new toys in his basement, many of which Tommy gets to trial.

Another pointed out "That baby had them STRESSED!!!! He kept a screwdriver in his diaper, I'd look defeated too."

One fan commented "With kids that stay infants for a decade? Anyone would look old."

Other Twitter users decided to warn others not to to search for the Marge and Homer Simpson's real ages if they were still in shock after learning about Didi and Stu's age.

Are you surprised by their ages?

The Rugrats are back! Stream the new CG-animated series now, exclusively on Paramount+! Try it FREE at ParamountPlus.com - use code MOVIES for a month's free trial! * Offer valid through June 2021 only.
