'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Star Cried When Cast As Zuko In Live-Action Show

Dallas Liu, star in the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender live action series on Netflix, discusses his reaction to being cast as Prince Zuko.

Dallas Liu, one of the stars of Netflix's upcoming live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, has talked about his reaction to finding out he was cast as Prince Zuko. Avatar: The Last Airbender was one of the most popular shows to ever come out of Nickelodeon. The show has spawned games, video games, toys, graphic novels and many more types of merchandise. Now, Paramount+ and Nickelodeon have decided to expand the world of Avatar, and will be doing so with new films and shows set in the universe.

The original Avatar: The Last Airbender released in 2005, and has been critically acclaimed and talked about ever since. It followed the character of Aang as he emerges from being frozen for many years and attempts to master the four elements to become the Avatar who will unite the nations to stop the Fire Nation. Along the way, he is joined by Sokka and Katara, members of the Water Tribe, and later Toph, an earth bender. They are constantly being trailed by Prince Zuko, a fire bender and Prince of the Fire Nation. While the show was geared towards a younger audience, it dealt with adult themes like war, free choice, and imperialism.

Now, actor Dallas Liu has talked about what it was like being cast as Zuko. In an interview with CBR, Liu talks about his reaction to finding out his casting confirmation, revealing that he cried when he got the call. Check out what he said below:

"It's an honor! When I received the call that I had been cast, I was literally in tears. This is an actual dream come true, growing up watching Avatar: The Last Airbender and being able to play one of my favorite characters, it still feels unreal."

With Prince Zuko being one of the more complicated characters in the animated series, Liu also talked about how he feels about getting to play with that in live-action:

"I would say that, as an actor seeing him in the animated series, this is definitely a great opportunity for me to show what I'm capable of on-screen. In the animated series, Zuko has one of my favorite character development in any animated series or anime. Over the years that we see him in the animated series, he starts off as a villain and ends up teaming up with Team Aang, I love it! It's just overall a really great story for people to see."

Dallas Liu has a tough job ahead of him. Zuko is one of the fan favorite characters of Avatar: The Last Airbender, so fans will undoubtedly have expectations set in their mind for him. Liu seems to be highly passionate about portraying the famous fire bender, so fans can be assured that he will bring it all to the role. Since it is unclear if the Netflix show will be a one-to-one adaptation of the original series or not, the creative team could potentially take Zuko's character in a different way than before. Since Liu and Kiawentiio, the actor playing Katara, are a bit older than their animated counterparts, many have been wondering if the live-action show will have Zuko and Katara end up in a relationship.

Liu has made his passion for playing Zuko evident in interviews since the casting announcement was made, so fans of the original series will be happy knowing that he respects the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe and clearly wants to do the role justice. As of now, there is no official confirmation of when this live-action Netflix series will launch. Until then, fans can check out the original animated Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel The Legend of Korra on Paramount+ and Netflix.

Patrick Star's Attack Move Set in 'Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl' Revealed

"Is this the Krusty Krab?" "No, this is Patrick in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl!"

We recently got to see SpongeBob SquarePants' move list for the upcoming Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl fighting game, and now developer Ludosity is sharing the attacks for SpongeBob's BFF, Patrick Star.

Patrick was one of the very first characters we saw when All-Star Brawl was first revealed back in mid July, and we've already seen a handful of his attacks in action. That said, we now have a graphic showing off no less than 17 maneuvers as well as their command inputs. Unfortunately, none of the moves see him smash his opponent with his boulder house while screaming "SPIDERS!".

The first favorite has to be "Toot Laser," as the potty humor-loving five year old in all of us surely can't help but respond to the simple starfish shooting a laser out of his butt. Fans will especially intrigued by "No It's Patrick," which appears to be performed by mashing whatever the punch button is, as it's not all that evident exactly what this move does.

It's a reference to one of the show's earlier episodes wherein Patrick, temporarily answering the phone for the Krusty Krab, gets frustrated and smashes the phone down. The scene has since become a popular meme. It's likely this will be some sort of repetitive mash attack, but we'll have to wait and see.

Two of his other attacks come from this same episode ("Big Pink Loser") as Patrick's "Trophy Hat" maneuvers both call back to the moment where he receives an award. He places said award on his head because... he's Patrick, and so we assume these moves are likely defensive/protective in nature.

Fans will also recognize the ice cream cone drop "Cone Crash" as coming from the Fry Cook Games episode. This was a parody of high dives from the Olympics and is almost certainly the character's "down B" if we're talking in Super Smash Bros. terms.

Check out the full move list below and let me know what you think in the comments. Fans will still hoping for that aforementioned boulder smash, and perhaps a powered up state where Patrick gets especially angry due to his opponent changing his nametag to "Rick."

Light Attack: Belly Bump, Snack Time, Toot Laser, Side Kick, Aerial Snack Time, Down Swing, Star Wheel.

Strong Attack: No It's Patrick, Trophy Hat, Belly Flop, Star Spin, Aerial Trophy Hat, Cone Crash, Spinning Lariat.

Special Attack: Star Slam, I'm Already a Star, Hugdriver

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is slated to release on October 5, 2021 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Greg Yuna Fashions J Balvin a Chain That Features His Favorite Childhood Characters, Inc. SpongeBob and CatDog

The iced-out piece was made to commemorate the Latino artist’s first born and features pendants of SpongeBob, Batman, Pikachu and more.

To celebrate the arrival of his first born son, J Balvin tapped NYC’s very own Greg Yuna to fashion him a $275K USD chain that salutes all of his favorite animated characters. The hand-crafted piece was built over a three month time period and features beloved icons from Nickelodeon, DC Comics, Marvel, Cartoon Network, Disney and Pokémon.

After going back and forth on a few iterations with his creative ally Rachel Goatley, the blinged-out necklace was sent into final production. There are a total of 10 pendants here, all of which are devised with hand-painted enamel details. “Rio” — the moniker of Balvin’s son — acts as the centerpiece of the chain and is molded in cursive font. Surrounding his namesake comes a bevy of anime and animation icons including that of SpongeBob SquarePants, CatDog, Batman, Spider-Man, Superman, Mickey Mouse, Pikachu, Tom and Jerry and Bugs Bunny. Moreover, the playful accessory weights out to 687 grams of gold and carries approximately 28 carats of white diamonds and sapphires and fetaures over 5,000 individual stones. Its custom frame was fashioned alongside artist Manila Mixtape.

“Working with J has been a long time coming but we finally got to come together and make something incredible. This is a timeless piece”, says Yuna when reflecting on the 1 of 1 piece. Peep a closer look in the gallery here above.

J Balvin is no stranger to the SpongeBob universe, having partnered with Nickelodeon to release a SpongeBob apparel and homeware collection in 2019 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the beloved series, and even produced the song "Agua" for the SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run soundtrack.
