Novel Entertainment readies virtual fancy dress parade

#FancyDressFriYAY taking place on Friday May 29 as part of Horrid Henry half-term activity.

Novel Entertainment is hosting a virtual fancy dress parade on Friday May 29 as part of its Horrid Henry half-term activity.

To join the parade, children are encouraged to take a photo dressed up as their favourite fictional character, or find their best dress-up photo from their photo library to share and also encourage their parents or carers to take part. The parade will be hosted on the Horrid Henry YouTube channel from 4pm BST, where fans can tune in to see themselves featured alongside entries from across the globe, and submissions can be made via email or by tagging #FancyDressFriYAY on social media channels.

The #FancyDressFriYAY virtual parade rounds out Novel Entertainment’s Horrid Henry half-term activity week. The week has included dressing up with the stars, alongside interviews with Great British Chef contender Hrishikesh Desai, super teacher Zane Powels and Happy Hudson Sherbourne, as he completed his virtual run from Oxford to Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium.

“Half-term is hopefully a time to regroup and relax, but it can also be a time to let your imagination and creativity run wild,” said Lucinda Whiteley, creative director and co-founder of Novel Entertainment. “During these times when we’re more physically apart than we’d like to be, our first ever virtual parade will offer kids from all over the world a chance to come together and express themselves.

“We’ve already had some fantastic fancy dress photos submitted and can’t wait to see all the entries during the parade.”

The activity is part of Novel Entertainment’s newly created content output, produced under the banner of Horrid Henry Unlocked and designed to offer a familiar environment for fans to discover how the Horrid Henry family is responding to the current crisis.

As well as the recently launched Horrid Henry podcast, new material includes daily online activities which will be available via the Horrid Henry website, projects, challenges, puzzles and bespoke videos including newly created songs, short videos and behind the scenes content, with a different ‘curricular’ theme each week.

Carlos PenaVega's Eldest Son Ocean is a Big Fan of 'Big Time Rush'

Alexa PenaVega Reveals Her Kids Watched ‘Spy Kids’ — But Liked ‘Sharkboy and Lavagirl’ More!

Kids will be kids! While Alexa PenaVega‘s oldest child, Ocean, is fan of his mom’s movie Spy Kids, “he’s actually obsessed with [The Adventures of] Sharkboy and Lavagirl,” the actor, 31, told Life & Style.

“I was like ‘What the heck? You’re supposed to like Spy Kids over Sharkboy and Lavagirl!'” the Spy Kids alum continues. “But no, he loves Taylor Dooley in Sharkboy and Lavagirl.”

On the bright side, Ocean, whom Alexa shares with husband Carlos PenaVega, does technically enjoy Spy Kids. “So Ocean watched Spy Kids, and it was really funny,” she reveals. “He likes the third one because it’s all based in a video game, and it’s a little more cartoon-y, so I felt that one was easier for him to watch. I want him to love them! I really do!”

Ocean also admires his dad’s work. Carlos starred in the Nickelodeon hit musical comedy series Big Time Rush, which aired from 2009-2013. Alexa “has him watching” the show now. “He actually really enjoys it,” she says about her toddler. “He totally knows that it’s daddy, which is hilarious. He does not know that that is me in Spy Kids — he can not understand that at all yet!”

Alexa and Carlos, who got married in 2014, also share 10-month-old son Kingston. Considering Alexa hasn’t been a mom of two for long, she is still adjusting to watching her sons’ dynamic. “Kingston is so tough,” she explains. “It’s really interesting seeing him with Ocean because Ocean, you know when you raise your first kid, everything is new and it’s exciting and he only has us. Kingston has an older brother that he gets to play with, so Ocean is pushing him around and wrestling with him, so he’s toughening up very quickly. But their personalities could not be more different, and I think that’s what’s really exciting for us to watch.”

When asked how the couple are adjusting to quarantining together in Hawaii amid the coronavirus pandemic, Alexa and Carlos couldn’t be doing better.

“We do absolutely everything together and we’ve never understood — and this is not putting other couples down — we just never understood when couples needed a break from each other,” she divulges. “We’ve grown even more than before, and we’ve had kind of just the most amazing breakthroughs together as parents. I mean it’s been a really beautiful, awesome time. I would say this has actually been the opposite of difficult. It’s been really beautiful.”

These two are couple goals!

Nickelodeon UK to Premiere 'Gortimer Gibbon's Life on Normal Street' Season 2 on Monday 1st June 2020

Nickelodeon UK & Ireland will be treating viewers to even more magic this June with Gortimer Gibbon's Life on Normal Street season two, premiering weekdays at 8:30am starting Monday 1st June 2020!

In the hit U.S. live-action family television series, life is anything but normal for Gortimer and his two best friends, Ranger and Mel, as they navigate Normal Street - an ordinary suburb that has a hint of something magical just beneath the surface! Season two will see Gortimer, Ranger and Mel grow up and grow together as they face a new set of challenges and adventures on Normal Street.
