'The Secret World of Alex Mack' Cast Set to Reunite for Their First-Ever Convention at 90s Con In October 2026

Long before Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider, junior high school student Alexandra Mack was nearly hit by a truck and drenched in an experimental chemical called GC-161 that gave her superpowers—and The Secret World of Alex Mack was born.

The Nickelodeon hit, starring Larisa Oleynik in the title role, aired for four seasons from 1994 to 1998. And now, it's been revealed that the cast is reuniting for their first convention at 90s Con in Hartford, Connecticut, in October.

Oleynik will be joined at the annual star-studded convention by Meredith Bishop (who played Alex's older sister Annie), Darris Love (who played Ray, Alex's best friend and next-door neighbor) and Natanya Ross (who was Robyn, one of Alex and Ray's neighborhood pals).

"To get to reunite and reminisce with the cast of Alex Mack is such a gift," Oleynik, 44, told PEOPLE, who first reported the news. "We hope the fans are as excited to share with us as we are with them! I'm very much looking forward to celebrating my favorite decade with some of my favorite people."

“After more than 30 years, to get to go back with my sacred 90s TV family and run it back one more time means more than I can even put into words," Ross, 44, says. "We are so excited to not only be at 90s Con together this October, but also to all be together as a family again. It's so incredibly special, and to do it at the literal Best 90s pop culture show out there, we are beside ourselves. Years in the making, baby!” 

Oleynik recently made her Nickelodeon homecoming in the sitcom Erin & Arron, this time playing the mom.

The Secret World of Alex Mack is available to stream on Prime Video.

The cast joins an already stacked lineup heading to Connecticut this fall. The lineup includes Selma Blair, Rachael Leigh Cook, Nick Carter, AJ McLean and Tara Reid, as well as Melrose Place's Heather Locklear, Josie Bissett, Laura Leighton, Daphne Zuniga, Grant Show and Rob Estes; Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman duo Jane Seymour and Joe Lando; Step by Step's Patrick Duffy, Christine Lakin, Staci Kean, Angela Watson, Christopher Castile, Sasha Mitchell, Josh Byrne and Jason Marsden; Perfect Strangers pair Bronson Pinchot and Mark Linn-Baker; Hocus Pocus director Kenny Ortega and stars Thora Birch, Vinessa Shaw, Omri Katz, Larry Bagby and Tobias Jelinek; and Wishbone voice actor Larry Brantley.

Kel Mitchell Teases Plans to Launch His Own Orange Soda, Inspired by His Iconic 'Kenan & Kel' Role

Kel Mitchell still loves orange soda.

Taking questions from fans during his 90s Con appearance at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, Conn., Mitchell revealed that he wants to bring orange soda to the masses in a good way.

The revelation came about when Mitchell was asked how his love for orange soda on Kenan & Kel came to be. Just moments earlier, Mitchell had led the crowd in his beloved sing-song catchphrase, "Who loves orange soda? Kel loves orange soda."

"One of the writers, this is what he told me. He said, 'It was a rainy day.' I said, 'What does that have to do with orange soda?' " he recalled.

"He said, 'It was a rainy day, Kel, and I was like, Who loves orange soda? And I was thinking about rain.' And we did an episode where there was orange rain coming down, which was big for me, because I'm a dancer. I started out in theater, so I got to do Fred Astaire type of dancing, which was super cool for me."

Mitchell said people ask him about the bit all the time, joking, "It doesn't matter if it's a five-star restaurant, they're going to go, 'Can you say, "Who loves orange soda?" Please, Kel?' And I'll do it."

As fans cheered, he shared, "But it's coming, okay? My own orange soda."

As excited fans chattered, Mitchell continued, 'I was on the phone with my attorney because ... it has to be healthy. I can't have kids out here just drinking fructose and sugar, you know what I mean? So, we've been working on it."

Mitchell and Kenan Thompson met as teenagers while working on the hit Nickelodeon sketch series All That in 1994. A friendship was spawned from there, resulting in them scoring the Kenan & Kel show. They later costarred as Dexter (Thompson) and Ed (Mitchell) in the 1997 film Good Burger, which has since gone on to become a cult comedy classic.

Mitchell also hinted the duo isn't done with Good Burger, either. "Me and Kenan actually sat down and talked about the script for part three, all right, so it's going to go down. We've got to make sure it's right, just like how Good Burger 2 was," he shared of the 2023 sequel.

Mitchell assured, however, "We're not gonna make you guys wait over 15 years."

That's not the only thing Thompson and Mitchell might have in the works. The actor also revealed that he and Thompson have discussed a Kenan & Kel revival that would see the two as husbands and fathers, to reflect the actors' lives today.

Kel Mitchell Teases New 'Good Burger' Projects and More 'Kenan & Kel' with Kenan Thompson at 90s Con

Welcome to 90s Con, can Kel Mitchell take your order?

As 90s Con returned to the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, Conn., on Friday, March 28, the Nickelodeon star hit the stage for a fun-filled solo panel — in character as Good Burger's Ed.

Not only did Mitchell sing, take selfies and even FaceTime fans, but he also shared some exciting details for projects to come, including some with Kenan Thompson.

"So, here's the thing — we teased it. At the end of the movie, I said, 'We're gonna go to space. We're going to Fast and Furious this thing,'" he laughed.

"Me and Kenan actually sat down and talked about the script for part three, alright, so it's going to go down. We've got to make sure it's right, just like how Good Burger 2 was," he shared.

Mitchell assured, "We're not gonna make you guys wait over 15 years".

That's not the only thing Thompson and Mitchell might have in the works. The actor also revealed that he and Thompson have discussed a Kenan & Kel revival that would see the two as husbands and fathers, to reflect the actors' lives today.

Mitchell rose to fame from a young age upon becoming a cast member on All That in 1994. During his time on the sketch series, the actor joined forces with his All That costar for Kenan & Kel in 1996 and the Good Burger movie (based on their All That characters) in 1997.

Mitchell would eventually return to his Nickelodeon roots, guest starring on Sam & Cat in 2013, before joining the cast of Game Shakers, which ran from 2015 to 2019 for three seasons. He also reteamed with Thompson, 46, to star in Good Burger 2 in 2023.

Looking back on his career and the legacy he's left thus far, Mitchell told Business Insider in 2022: "Ever since All That, I love just having fun, creating new characters and old characters."

"But it's something with the nostalgia. I feel because I grew up in theater, it's very important to me to really know your character and create a world for your character," he continued. "I think my characters have their own — I almost sound crazy when I say this — but I feel like they have their own life, my characters. And when people see them, it's not even me. They're just like, 'Oh, Ed,' or 'Oh, Coach Kreeton,' all these different characters."

"When we did the reboot of All That in 2019, every time I got into character, I remember walking back to my dressing room and I walked by the mirror — this happened with Ed and with Coach Kreeton — and I just was like, 'Oh, hi! Hello, old friend. Let's go. Let's do this thing,' " he added.

Good Burger 2 was released on Paramount+ in November 2023 after years of anticipation from the cast and fans alike, becoming the streaming service's most-watched original movie at the time. The film stars original cast members Josh Server, Lori Beth Denberg, and Carmen Electra and brings Jillian Bell, Kamaia Fairburn, Alex R. Hibbert, Fabrizio Guido, Elizabeth Hinkler, Emily Hinkler, and Anabel Graetz into the fold.

'Clarissa Explains It All' Ended 30 Years Ago Today; Melissa Joan Hart Remembers It as a 'Special Time' — and 'Hard Work'

“That was a really special time," the actor recently revealed of her time on the beloved Nickelodeon show

Clarissa Explains It All is just as important to Melissa Joan Hart today as it was 30 years ago.

The 48-year-old actor took a walk down memory lane with PEOPLE at 90s Con in Daytona Beach, Fla., last month as she recalled her time on the show and getting to play the iconic Clarissa Darling. 

“That was a really special time,” Hart shared. “It was a lot of hard work … I had a lot of monologues, [the] scenes were long and we had to do them all as a live show even though it wasn't a live show. It was really complicated to get it right."

The Melissa & Joey star went on to explain that “if things weren't right” the actors “had to redo the whole” scene — some of which had been at least “10 pages long” — a far cry from her 2000s Sabrina the Teenage Witch days. 

“That's why I loved getting to [do] Sabrina,” Hart said with a laugh. “I was like, ‘We have like two-page scenes and other people speak? Someone says something and I respond? This is really easy!’ ”

Though, she shared that the Nickelodeon show, which ran for five seasons from 1991 to 1994, and her character Clarissa still hold a special place in her heart.

“I had so much fun, and I knew she was a special character,” Hart admitted, adding that she thought the series — which delved into everything from dating to how to deal with annoying little brothers — overall was “wonderful.”

She previously told PEOPLE in May that she “definitely jived more” with the character of Clarissa than her teenage witch persona Sabrina, as she had grown up in tandem with the character during the series.

“Being on Clarissa gave me that freedom to sort of figure out who I was while she's figuring out who she is,” she said. “So it's really a blurred line between me and Clarissa, we were the exact same age.”

Hart also revealed that while she doesn’t “talk to any” of Clarissa’s cast, which included Jason Zimbler, Elizabeth Hess and Joe O'Connor, some of her other connections from the series are still going strong three decades later. 

“I'm still in touch with some of the crew over there,” the actress said, referring to Michele Roofthooft, who did her wardrobe for Clarissa Explains It All, and her husband David Roofthooft, who was the executive producer's assistant on the show. “They're my son's godparents.”

“They actually got married at the end of the show,” she shared. “And they're still my closest friends."

If you grew up watching ‘90s era Nickelodeon sitcoms, then you know those teenagers had a lot of energy. Shows like Salute Your Shorts, Clarissa Explains It All, and My Brother and Me were fast paced, even in comparison to other sitcoms. The child actors always seemed like they were on a sugar rush, with every performance being pushed to the loudest level possible.

According to Clarissa Explains It All lead actress Melissa Joan Hart, this was by design. “I watch Clarissa and Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and I feel like I watch myself and go, ‘Oh, I could’ve tried a little harder.’ But it was hard at that age to survive it day after day,” Hart says during a panel at Tampa Bay Comic Convention.

“To go through it and kind of have that sort of energy. At Nickelodeon we had to have the energy. They would call it 'The Cannon Take.' We would do one take, and the energy we had to use on Nickelodeon was out of this world. A lot of people don’t like these Nickelodeon and Disney actors because they’ll say that they’re ridiculously over the top, but we were trained that way.”

“Theater is kind of the same, where you want to project to the back of the room. And then you get to more dramatic stuff, tighter close-ups, and then it should be a little smaller. Like if you watch God’s Not Dead 2, that was really hard for me to take it out of my face and just kind of calm it down, because I feel like take it out of my face and just like calm it down.”

If Nickelodeon has any behind-the-scenes footage of their actors being trained in “the cannon take,” they should release it. Trust us Nickelodeon, your viewers would love to see it.

Nickelodeon's Mike O'Malley and Kirk Fogg Call 'Older Brother' Marc Summers a 'Real Mensch' During Gameshow Era

The pair reminisced about working on classic Nickelodeon shows and taking a leaf out of Summers' book at 90s Con in Daytona Beach, Florida

Mike O'Malley and Kirk Fogg are raving about their Nickelodeon "older brother," Marc Summers.

During a panel at 90s Con in Daytona Beach, Florida, on Friday, Sept. 13, the two former kids' gameshow hosts looked back on their own experiences on Nickelodeon, and gave a hat tip to Summers, 72, who helped define the genre starting with Double Dare in the 1980s and, later, What Would You Do? on the same network.

"Marc Summers was an extremely gracious older brother and really wanted Nick to succeed and really had learned a lot by trial and error, and really was a phenomenal host and helped both of us," said O'Malley, 57, who hosted Get the Picture in 1991 and, later, Nickelodeon Guts from 1992 to 1995.

"He was someone who was doing a lot of live shows, live events - he helped everybody, he’s a real mensch," O'Malley added.

Along with Phil Moore (Nick Arcade) and Summer Sanders (Figure It Out), Summers, O'Malley and Fogg, 64, made up a special group of Nickelodeon kids' gameshow hosts that would define the friendly-competition genre for millennials.

Asked by PEOPLE at 90s Con whether the five of them have a group chat going all these years later, Fogg, who hosted Legends of the Hidden Temple from 1993 to 1995, said they don't - but if they did, "Marc would be in charge of it."

"I think all of us feeling a similar way about our experiences with Nickelodeon, and we have great pride," O'Malley added. "We talk to Marc and Phil about this too - about what Nick was. We’re all also at the point in our lives where we’re all reminiscing and looking back at that."

"Everybody has each other’s phone numbers. Our kids went to the same high school together," Fogg said of himself and O'Malley. "It seems like we’re kind of old friends."

Fogg also said he's just "grateful" to have been "able to be part of this kind of show" that "perpetually lives on."

"I was a big TV watcher as a kid - I'd watch as much as I possibly could," he said. "I really admire really good hosts. I loved all the gameshows back then, and I have my memories of shows I grew up on. I’m so glad that I have a positive show that I can stand behind for the rest of my life."

Nickelodeon Hosts Mike O'Malley and Kirk Fogg Confirm They Completed the Challenges on Their Shows

Nickelodeon hosts Mike O'Malley and Kirk Fogg were masters at their own games — with slight advantages.

Speaking about their respective throwback gameshows Nickelodeon Guts and Legends of the Hidden Temple at 90s Con in Daytona Beach, Fla, on Friday, Sept. 13, O'Malley and Fogg both said they personally took on the climactic challenges that the tween-aged contestants famously faced at the end of each competition episode.

For O'Malley, 57, that came in the form of climbing Guts' mountain Aggro Crag. Contestants had to complete the challenge largely in the dark as different elements were thrown at them on their way to the top.

"That being said, I did not go through it with all of the effects," said the Emmy nominee. "The kids had the goggles on ... and [the effects] guys were jokers, chucking Styrofoam boulders."

"They had to perform with nuclear flying crystals - you can only imagine how toxic that was," O'Malley joked. "For the kids in the dark, with googles on, mist, smoke, confetti. I didn't do it like that. ... We did ask a lot of [the contestants]. You can imagine how much, as an adult, you lose your focus."

In Fogg's case, he had to run the entire temple that kids had to complete in 3 minutes or less to win the grand prize, facing dead ends, locked guards, dreaded temple guards and more.

The host, 64, did a run-through of his own during the show's first season in 1993, however, "all the doors were open," Fogg admitted.

"You had to watch your head," he continued, pointing out he was a bit taller than the average 12-year-old. "I did wear a helmet. I wanted to make sure every season I could get in and out in 3 minutes, and I did."

Discussing their own series and other similar Nickelodeon competition-show programming such as Nick Arcade, Get the Picture and Double Dare, O'Malley said kids of the '90s were "watching because they imagined themselves" in the shoes of the contestants.

"The whole thing about Guts was like, 'What would it be like if I could dunk a basketball?', when you’re a kid [and] you’re pretending to be [Michael Jordan]. So that’s what the show was about."

Continued the Glee alum, "Kids have a different experience laughing and having fun when their parents aren’t around. It’s just facts. It’s just very hard as a parent not to be parenting them at every moment."
