Titled "Paramount Pictures Invites You to an Exclusive Presentation Highlighting its Upcoming Slate", Paramount Pictures will be hosting their 1 hour, 45 minute presentation at The Dolby Colosseum - Casino Level on Thursday, April 16 between 9:45 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. (doors open 9:15am).

The use of cameras or any electronic devices – audio or video – is strictly prohibited. Attendees are asked to please completely power down their mobile devices before the start of the presentation.

Although unconfirmed, Paramount Pictures is expected to talk about Nickelodeon Movies' upcoming slate of theatrical movies, which includes PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie (in theaters August 14, 2026), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 (currently set to be released on August 13, 2027) and the Untitled CG/Live-Action TMNT Movie, currently set for a November 17, 2028 release. Nickelodeon and Paramount are said to also have a live-action/CG-animated hybrid Rugrats movie in development.

Paramount Pictures is also expected to give updates about Paramount Animation's upcoming slate of original films, including DropzMuttnik, Once Upon a Motorcycle Dude, Swan Lake, and Yokai Samba, along with the studio's Untitled Animated Comedy with Mindy Kaling on board to produce, and Mighty Mouse reboot movie.

Former Spin Master President Jennifer Dodge has also been named President of Paramount Animation, taking over from Ramsey Naito, who commissioned the bulk of Paramount Animation's upcoming slate, so it'll be interesting to see what projects have made the cut.

Iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Villain Joining Shredder For 'TMNT: Mutant Mayhem 2'

Shredder won't be the only villain in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

Released in 2023 to critical and commercial success, the animated reboot follows the Turtles as they defeat Superfly and his gang of mutants, and the TMNT: Mutant Mayhem post-credits scene sets up Shredder as an antagonist for the upcoming sequel. However, he won't be the only villain for the Turtles to contend with.

During Paramount's presentation at CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas, the studio announced that Krang will be joining Shredder in TMNT: Mutant Mayhem 2. Producers Seth Rogen, James Weaver, and Evan Goldberg shared a video message with CinemaCon attendees announcing that the two villains will be teaming up in the sequel.

Krang is a brain-like Utrom alien, and although there is a character in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem called Cynthia Utrom (voiced by Maya Rudolph), an executive at the Techno Cosmic Research Institute who enlists Shredder's help, it's unclear if she is actually Krang in disguise or just another member of the Utrom species.

Originally appearing in comics, Krang has remained one of the franchise's most iconic villains. He previously appeared in the 1987 animated series, the 2012 series, made his first live-action appearance in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016), and returned in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie (2022).

Krang | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Shredder, on the other tentacle, is also known as Oroku Saki, a metal-masked armored samurai and leader of a sinister Japanese criminal ninja organization known as the Foot Clan. The character has appeared in almost every iteration of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, including live-action films, animated movies, and TV shows. The two villains, Shredder and Krang, are typically depicted as allies who team up in their common goal of defeating the Turtles.

Shredder | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The 2023 film detailed the origin of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as mutagenic ooze transformed four pet turtles into the humanoid Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Raphael (played by actual teenagers Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu, and Brady Noon). Trained to be ninja teens by the mutant rat Splinter (Jackie Chan), the four befriend aspiring journalist April O'Neil (Ayo Edebiri), who's investigating strange doings at tech corporation TCRI. It turns out to be the work of Superfly (Ice Cube), a mutant insect who's planning to instigate mass mutant mayhem. That means unleashing a bevy of mutants, including Mondo Gecko (Paul Rudd), Scumbug (Alex Hirsch), Bebop (Rogen), Rocksteady (John Cena), Leatherhead (Rose Byrne), Wingnut (Natasia Demetriou), Ray Fillet (Post Malone), and Genghis Frog (Hannibal Buress). The Turtles stemmed the mutant tide, but lurking in the shadows is Cynthia Utrom (Maya Rudolph), a TCRI executive who answers to the mysterious Shredder.

Rowe previously confirmed that there were early plans for Shredder to be the main villain in Mutant Mayhem before the filmmakers changed course. The director compared his absence to how Christopher Nolan waited until the Batman film The Dark Knight before bringing in the Joker, teasing how Shredder could similarly have a major impact by coming in with the sequel.

"Shredder used to be the main villain before we pivoted away from that," Rowe told Empire. "They saved Joker for The Dark Knight. The one thing I can say without spoiling anything is, [Shredder] needs to be 100 times scarier than Superfly – who is a credible villain, he’s dangerous, he’s strong, he seems like he could mess the Turtles up. Shredder needs to be that, just significantly more.”

The wait between the Mutant Mayhem movies will be about four years, but a tie-in TV series was developed in the meantime to hold fans over. A two-season series, Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, was released on Paramount+ in 2024 and 2025. The series bridges the gap between the movies, picking up after the events of the first Mutant Mayhem and following the Ninja Turtles living their dual lives in New York City.

Directed once again by Jeff Rowe, the untitled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 is scheduled for a theatrical release on Friday, August 13, 2027. The first film, TV series, and the theatrical short Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Chrome Alone 2 – Lost in New Jersey are streaming on Paramount+. A live-action/CG-animated hybrid TMNT movie is also slated to be released in theaters on Friday, November 17, 2028.

Paramount Teases 'The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants' at CinemaCon 2025

Paramount Pictures today (April 3) unveiled a teaser trailer for Nickelodeon Movies' upcoming theatrical film, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants during their CinemaCon 2025 presentation!

Cast of 'SpongeBob SquarePants'

Based on Nickelodeon's beloved animated series, SpongeBob SquarePants, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants is set to be SpongeBob's biggest adventure yet.

“Once upon a time, long, long ago,” says the captain played by Clancy Brown in the trailer. “…The only way to lift the curse is to find the world’s most innocent soul,” which happens to be SpongeBob.

SpongeBob wakes up and measures his height. “Today’s the day,” he says, thinking his world is going to change because today he’s a big guy.

SpongeBob meets up with Patrick and they celebrate SpongeBob being bigger, taller. Of course, not everyone is convinced he’s a big guy. He thinks he needs to go on a swashbuckling adventure like Mr. Krabs to be a true big guy.

That’s when they come face-to-face with the Flying Dutchman, voiced by Mark Hamill. “I’m here to offer you an opportunity to prove your worth in the underworld,” says the Flying Dutchman.

SpongeBob and Patrick, with Squidward for a few brief moments, go on this journey that takes them space, land, and water.

During Paramount's CinemaCon presentation, SpongeBob SquarePants voice actor Tom Kenny and Mark Hamill took to the stage to discuss The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants.

Hamill offered up a particularly eyebrow-raising tease for his role as the Flying Dutchman: "I actually did an episode of SpongeBob in the fifth season, and I did such a great job they asked me back 18 years later...And if I do my job correctly, every child in America will hate my guts."

The original SpongeBob SquarePants voice cast will return for The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SequarePants. The cast includes Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy) and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton).

The Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies release, based on the beloved series created by Stephen Hillenburg, is being directed by Derek Drymon. Pam Brady and Lisa Stewart and producing.

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants is currently slated to be released in theaters on Friday, December 19, 2025 during the holiday season.

The SpongeBob Movie: The Search for SquarePants
Release Date: December 19, 2025.
Directed by Derek Drymon.
Based on SpongeBob SquarePants created by Stephen Hillenburg.
Produced by Pam Brady & Lisa Stewart.
Main Voice Cast: Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence, Mr. Lawrence, & Mark Hamill.

Exclusive Footage Description: Mark Hamill and the voice of Spongebob, Tom Kenny, took the stage at CinemaCon 2025 to show attendees a first look at Paramount Animation’s The Spongebob Movie: The Search for Squarepants. The footage opens on a classic Spongebob tradition: a live-action pirate addresses the audience to tell them about a nautical tale of the Flying Dutchman (Mark Hamill) crossing paths with an innocent soul, Spongebob himself.

Hilariously, Spongebob wants to turn over a new leaf and become a “big man” — he blasts Snoop Dog from his speakers and pumps his chest lifting his plush weights. Mr. Krabs (Clancy Brown) tells Spongebob about his days on the sea, which motivates Spongebob and Patrick to go on an adventure to follow in his footsteps and go on a sailing adventure. When Spongebob and Patrick (Bill Fagerbakke) cross paths with the Flying Dutchman, he takes them to the underworld, where they must endure terrors beyond the sponge’s imagination, including scary rollercoasters. The Search for Squarepants boasts a mix of absurdist gags and a vibrant mix of live-action and 3D animation.

Paramount Unveils Official Title For 'Avatar Aang' Movie at CinemaCon

Paramount Pictures today (April 3) gave fans got a minor update on Nickelodeon Movies and Avatar Studios’ upcoming animated feature from the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe during their presentation at CinemaCon 2025.

Cast of 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' as adults

Whilst no footage was revealed, Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation president Ramsey Naito revealed that the pic will be officially titled The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender. The project was previously referred to as simply Aang: The Last Airbender.

Although no footage was shown, the presentation reportedly did unveil the movie's official logo.

Slated for release on January 30, 2026, The Legend of Aang will continue the story begun in the critically acclaimed Nickelodeon animated series (2005), which is set in a world divided into four nations — Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation and Air Nomads — where beings called Benders have the power to control their realm’s element. A figure known as the “Avatar” is the only one who can control all four elements.

The series introduced a 12-year-old named Aang, the long-lost Avatar, and the new movie will pick up with the grown-up Aang (now in his early twenties) and his companions some years after the events of the show's finale.

The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender is being directed by series alum Lauren Montgomery (Superman: Doomsday, Wonder Woman, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths) and co-directed by William Mata (Dora and the Fantastical Creatures), with series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko executive producing alongside Eric Coleman. The voice cast is led by Eric Nam as Aang, Dave Bautista as an unnamed villain, Dionne Quan as Toph, Jessica Matten as Katara, Román Zaragoza as Sokka and Steven Yeun in a TBA role.

Paramount Animation also spotlighted the upcoming family animated features Smurfs (July 18, 2025) and The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants (Dec. 19, 2025), PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie (July 31, 2026) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 (Oct. 9, 2026).

“Family films are an integral part of our strategy here at Paramount,” said Paramount Animation’s president Ramsey Naito.

During the presentation, Paramount's president of domestic distribution, Chris Aronson, joked that "on the heels of Sony releasing four Beatles movies, they're gonna release four Paw Patrol films for each character."

Paramount also presented the audience with a new Smurfs trailer, in which ScreenRant notes:

Papa Smurf is DJ’ing a concert with the other Smurfs. Smurfette is dancing. Everyone then looks up where a ship is hovering over their homes. Papa Smurf is abducted by the people in the ship. The other Smurfs, led by Smurfette, try to rescue Papa Smurf, landing them in our world, particularly Paris. They then meet Papa Smurfs brother. “It’s time to show you what a Smurf can do,” says Papa Smurf’s brother. “Never underestimate a Smurf,” says Smurfette. They then confront the evil wizards who took Papa Smurf, dancing with “old moves.” Then Papa Smurf’s brother says, “You don’t see that at CinemaCon.”

DiscussingFilm further notes:

Smurfs

Release Date: July 18, 2025.
Directed by Chris Miller.
Screenplay by Pam Brady.
Based on The Smurfs by Peyo
Produced by Ryan Harris, Rihanna, Laurence “Jay” Brown, & Tyran “Ty-Ty” Smith.

Main Cast: Rihanna, James Corden, Nick Offerman, J. P. Karliak, Dan Levy, Amy Sedaris, Natasha Lyonne, Sandra Oh, Octavia Spencer, Nick Kroll, Hannah Waddingham, Alex Winter, Maya Erskine, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña, Kurt Russell, & John Goodman.

Exclusive Footage Description: CinemaCon 2025 audiences successfully got smurfed by an exclusive look at the new Rihanna-spearheaded animated Smurfs movie. The trailer opens with longtime Smurfs nemesis Gargamel trying to convene with other cohorts, only for his volume to be muted. The Smurfs are partying in Smurf Village to some new Rihanna songs, with Rihanna’s Smurfette taking the stage in the footage. Suddenly, a new sort of flower rises from the ground, sucking the Smurfs into the real world.

The trailer then proceeds to show The Smurfs interacting with live action footage, although there are no nonextra prominent human characters. The plot seems to involve the Smurfs going up against Gargamel and his brother. The animation looks something like the recent Peanuts animated film, with humor that’s more or less based around pop culture references. The film will likely appeal to children more than anything as it looks very similar to the previously released films, albeit with a new art style,

Paramount co-CEO and head of Paramount Pictures, Brian Robbins, acknowledged to a big CinemaCon crowd that it may be an odd time for the company right now, but Par’s slate remains terrific, Deadline reports.

“In all seriousness, I’m excited to be back at CinemaCon, and incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished at Paramount Pictures in the midst of all the noise going on at our parent company. We have a terrific slate that our team has put together, and I can’t wait to share that with you,” he told theater owners at the annual Las Vegas showcase.

Paramount Global is in the midst of a complicated merger with Skydance that’s taking longer than anticipated. It’s likely to get done but is now in regulatory limbo amid the Trump administration’s harsh stance on the media, seconded by his FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr.

“We do live in complicated times,” noted domestic distribution chief Chris Aronson. “But one thing is unwavering — people love movies. And they will never stop loving movies.”

Aronson kicked off Par’s presentation promising to play it straight – but “Well, actually, that’s absolutely…impossible,” he said as black motorcycles with glowing lights and helmeted riders zoomed across the stage to the theme music of Mission Impossible amid buzz over the next Tom Cruise installment.

As Paramount attemps to close its sale to Skydance, Robbins highlighted Paramount’s legacy, which began “over a century ago. World War I was raging. The Summer Olympics were canceled. The Great Flood ravaged communities. And a Hungarian immigrant made a big counterintuitive bet: he believed that when everything was falling apart, people needed a shared experience to bring them together.”

Adolph Zukor dared to dream that he could give us what we wouldn’t even realize we needed until we saw it.”

“Over the years, that company went through many changes, but one name came to define it all: Paramount.

“It isn’t just the lot, the logo, or the legacy; at Paramount the strongest strands of our DNA are still bound together by the theatrical experience.”

He ticked off a handful of films  currently in production, led by Motion Picture Group head Mike Ireland including Children of Blood and Bone, shooting in South Africa; Heart of the Beast filming in New Zealand starring Brad Pitt and produced under Damien Chazelle and Olivia Hamilton’s Wild Chickens Productions banner; and an original live-action comedy from South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, with Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free producing. The studio also has a Sonic the Hedgehog film, on the heels of the super successful third film that pushed the franchise’s box office gross well over the $1 billion mark; and Scream 7 with the Sidney Prescott, Neve Campbell.

Kristen Wiig and Gloria Estefan Join ‘Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie’ | CinemaCon

Kristen Wiig and Gloria Estefan have joined the cast of live-action/animated adventure comedy Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie. DreamWorks Animation president Margie Cohn announced the news from the Colosseum stage inside Caesars Palace in Las Vegas during Universal Pictures’ CinemaCon presentation on Wednesday (April 2) afternoon, saying, “Our girl is primed and ready for her feature theatrical debut.”

Gabby's Dollhouse

The film is set to be released in theaters across the U.S. on Friday, September 26.

Estefan will play Grandma Gigi in the hybrid family adventure, with Wiig in a “new spin on the crazy cat lady,” Cohn said.

The movie is a big-screen version of Netflix’s popular kids series, whose 11th season debuted on the streamer in February. The film sees Gabby (Laila Lockhart Kraner, reprising her role from the series) head out on a road trip with her Grandma Gigi to the urban wonderland of Cat Francisco. But when Gabby’s dollhouse, her most prized possession, ends up in the hands of an eccentric cat lady named Vera, Gabby sets off on an adventure through the real world to get the Gabby Cats back together and save the dollhouse before it’s too late.

Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie is directed by Ryan Crego (executive producer of Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh, I Heart Arlo), who earned a Children’s and Family Emmy nomination for his television feature Arlo the Alligator Boy. The film is produced by Steven Schweickart, who has served as a production supervisor or co-producer on some of DreamWorks Animation’s biggest blockbusters including How to Train Your Dragon, The Croods and most recently, Kung Fu Panda 4, which has earned almost $500 million worldwide.

Also featuring in the film are Logan Bailey, Eduardo Franco, Juliet Donenfeld, Blue's Clues alum Donovan Patton, Sainty Nelsen, Maggie Lowe, Carla Tassara, the Fairly OddParents' Tara Strong and Secunda Wood.

Gabby’s Dollhouse, which is now in its 11th season (76 episodes overall), first premiered on Netflix in January of 2021. Created by Blue’s Clues veterans Traci Paige Johnson (Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood) and Jennifer Twomey (Team Umizoomi), the interactive show combines live-action and animation and follows the adventures of Gabby (voiced and portrayed by Laila Lockhart Kraner) and her feline friends (the Gabby Cats) inside the magical dollhouse. The show, which was renewed for a 12th season, has been a huge success for Netflix and DreamWorks Animation, and is considered one of the the top preschool brands in the U.S. across publishing, home, apparel and more. The Gabby’s Dollhouse YouTube channell gets a million visitors weekly. In addition to Netflix, the series also airs on Nick Jr. channels in selected territories, including the U.S., UK & Ireland, and Australia.

During her time on stage, Cohn detailed the cultural impact Gabby has had in her short life since being created by DreamWorks, citing a YouTube channel with three billion views, a best-selling consumer products line, and ratings that make keep it consistently in Netflix’s top 10. (She said the ratings are so strong that it is on par with shows like The Lincoln Lawyer, Reacher and Bridgerton.)

“She’s big and she’s about to get much bigger,” Cohn said, revealing plans propelled by NBC Universal that will see the franchise expanding into theme parks, live entertainment, gaming, interactive offerings and more. “Which is to say that our girl is primed and ready for her theatrical debut,” Cohn said, adding that it will be an “all new hybrid family adventure” that is “imaginative and interactive.”

First Look at 'The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants' Logo; Original Voice Cast Set to Return For Film

Paramount today (April 11) unveiled a first look at the official logo for the upcoming SpongeBob SquarePants theatrical movie, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, across the film's official social channels!

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants

In this new feature, SpongeBob is headed to the depths of the ocean to square-off with the Flying Dutchman's ghost. It will probably take a similar tone to the other three movies that fans have loved over the years.

Paramount chief Brian Robbins called it “the biggest SpongeBob ever.”

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants is currently slated to be released in theaters on Friday, December 19, 2025 during the holiday season.

Previously set to open during 2025's Memorial Day Weekend, the The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants was originally planned to serve as the culmination of Nickelodeon's year-long celebration marking 25 years of the network's beloved animated series, which kicks off this year.

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants is one of four upcoming new movies based on Nickelodeon's beloved animated series, which includes Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie, which is slated to debut on Netflix in 2024.

During the studio’s presentation at CinemaCon on Thursday (April 11), Paramount chief Brian Robbins announced that an all-star cast has been set for the film including Nick Offerman, Natasha Lyonne, JP Karliak, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Nick Kroll, James Corden, Octavia Spencer, Hannah Waddingham, Sandra Oh, Alex Winter, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña with Kurt Russell and John Goodman. Or, as Robbins put it, “Pretty much the rest of the Screen Actors Guild.” He also praised Rihanna as “the most legendary Smurfette ever.”

The news comes one year after Rihanna turned up to surprise CinemaCon 2023 attendees on the Colosseum stage inside Caesars Palace to announce that she had signed on to tackle the project as a triple threat by providing the voice of Smurfette, producing alongside Ryan Harris, Laurence “Jay” Brown and Tyran “Ty-Ty” Smith, and contributing original music.

Based on the characters of Belgian comics writer and artist Peyo, the movie is described as a comedic, musical adventure “that sets out to answer one of life’s biggest questions:  What is a Smurf?”

Chris Miller, the Oscar-nominated director of 2011’s Puss in Boots, is helming the project, with South Park's Pam Brady wring the script. Matt Landon is co-director.

Ryan Harris, Rihanna, Laurence “Jay” Brown and Tyran “Ty-Ty” Smith are producers. Rihanna is penning original songs.

The movie hits theaters on February 14, 2025.

In addition to the movie, Nickelodeon has picked up a third season of the hit The Smurfs animated series.
