"Wallykazam!" Premiere Scores Nickelodeon USA Its Highest-Rated Debut With Preschoolers In Almost 10 Years

Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids and families, has announced in the following press release, from TVByTheNumbers.com, the exciting Nickelodeon News that Nick USA's debut of Nickelodeon's brand-new animated preschool literacy series "Wallykazam!" earned the network its highest-rated premiere with K2-5 in almost 10 years, confirming it a instant hit with preschoolers!

The series premiere on Monday 3rd February 2014 at 1:00pm ET/PT drew 1.9 million total viewers and averaged a 7.2/896,000 K2-5; winning its time period and posting double-digit year over year gains with K2-5 (+57%) and total viewers (+46%).

"Wallykazam!" follows the adventures of a troll named Wally and his pet dragon, Norville, who live in a forest with giants, goblins, ogres, sprites and other mythical creatures. Wally uses his magic stick to make words come to life on screen that start with a specific letter, sound or rhyme. Each episode features a new set of magic words that Wally uses to playfully transform the world around him. The series is Nickelodeon's first preschool series that embeds a literacy curriculum into a full-length story, introducing skills such as letter and sound identification, rhyming, vocabulary development and comprehension strategies. The series will regularly air weekdays at 1:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon USA.

Although currently unconfirmed, Nickelodeon is expected to launch and premiere "Wallykazam!" on Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. channels worldwide, including Nick Jr. UK and Ireland, from late 2014.

Nickelodeon's award-winning website for parents and preschoolers, www.nickjr.com, features the networks official "Wallykazam!" webpage with letter tracing activities, a word wheel craft, "Wallykazam!" board game, puzzles, coloring pages, and more.
