Nickelodeon To Attend Cape Town International Animation Festival 2016

Nickelodeon Africa has announced the exciting news that Nickelodeon will be attending the Cape Town International Animation Festival between Thursday 18th and Sunday 21st February 2016!


Animation fans are invited to watch award-winning movies, attend workshops with international experts, and enjoy the best of South African animation talent!

Nickelodeon's Alexi Wheeler, Senior Director, International Production & Development, Tasania Parsadh, Channel Director: Nickelodeon Africa - Nickelodeon, Nicktoons & Nick Jr., and Pippa Tshabalala, Senior On-Air Producer at Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa, in which they'll be discussing how you can get started as an animator, what kind of contest Nickelodeon is looking for, and how you could become a part of Nickelodeon's quest for world domination! Join Alexi, Tasania and Pippa for their exclusive talk between 15h00 and 15h45 in the [Nickelodeon] Orange Room on Friday 19th February 2016!

About Alexi Wheeler, Snr Director International Prod & Dev Nickelodeon:


A passion for children's media and broadcasting has been the defining characteristic of Alexi Wheeler's career since he started in the industry in 2002. Fast-forward thirteen years and Wheeler is responsible for having produced more than two-hundred hours of television aimed at pre-schoolers and kids from 6 to 12 – encompassing both live-action and animated titles.

Thirteen years' experience in kids' broadcasting has made Wheeler a master of content creation. He develops, commissions and produces content across Viacom's Kids and Family portfolio and has worked on a wide range of titles from Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom to Tickety Tock, Zack and Quack, The House of Anubis and Wanda and the Alien.

After joining Nickelodeon UK in 2010 as Programming Manager, Wheeler quickly moved into the production side as Manager, International Production and Development, before being promoted to Director in 2014, and subsequently Senior Director in 2015.

Based in London, Wheeler is responsible for implementing global talent incubator schemes such as the Nickelodeon International Shorts Program and the International Pre-School Shorts Initiative. In the last two years, he has unearthed, developed and acted as Executive in Charge of 25 International Nickelodeon Shorts, sourced from around the world, as well as spearheading multiple pilots for Nick Jr. and NickToons. Wheeler has also played a key part in bringing Nickelodeon productions to Europe, the United Kingdom and Ireland in particular.

Wheeler's long list of credits include that of Producer, Executive Producer and Executive in Charge of Production, Production Manager, Production Associate on the multi-award winning shows including the animated shows Humf, Peppa Pig, Tickety Tock, Fireman Sam and Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom, to name but a few. Prior to joining Nickelodeon, Wheeler founded his own creative consultancy and independent production company called Plimmy.
