Nickelodeon UK Unveils Four Brand-New "Short Toons" For May 2016

New month, new toons! Nickelodeon UK and Ireland has unveiled the latest batch of freshly selected Short Toons on their official Nicktoons website and award-winning Nick Play app!

What could be better than even more side-splittingly funny cartoons, online and free whenever you fancy a chuckle?

Covering topics as varied as video games, zombie siblings and port-a-loo-loving Meerkats, developed shorts from the 2014 edition of Nickelodeon's world renowned Global Animated Shorts Programme are currently rolling out on nicktoons.co.uk and Nick Play App. Four of the funniest shorts will be available to view at any one time and, on the Nicktoons site, viewers will be able to show their appreciation for the creative work by selecting the "vote" button.

The current shorts available to view are:

Outsiders by writer Eric Bravo:

In Outsiders, Gerald is annoyed at Miles for dragging him out to the woods for a "dance" emergency. But they have to work together when a Bear attacks! Featuring guest star Will Friedle (Boy Meets World)!

Off the Shelf, created by storyboard artist Robert Iza (Breadwinners):

While working at a warehouse full of everything, overprotective Cat Ashley is driven to the brink of madness after her oblivious best friend Max gets himself fired.

Summer Memories by writer/director Adam Yaniv:

Summer is the time for adventure, and Jason and Ronnie decide to test their parachute in the frontyard. However, after a accident caused by his loyal but questionable friend, Jason has just 24 hours to find his missing tooth!

Buck n' Lou and the Night Crew by independent animators Caitlin Boyle and Tara Helfer:

Two Rat best friends, Buck and Lou, plan a party and pursue a legendary giant hoagie to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of their "Friendaversary"! Featuring guest star Will Friedle (Boy Meets World)!

"The Animated Shorts Program aims to discover, mentor and collaborate with exciting new talent in order to develop the best content for Nickelodeon," said Nina Hahn, Senior Vice President, International Production and Development, Nickelodeon. "These shorts all have the potential to be developed into a longer-form series so it is great to be able to share them with UK fans and, through the vote button, get a sense of what is popular with audiences."

The Global Nickelodeon Animated Shorts Program is open to creatives across the world. The 2016 edition of the initiative will launch in January 2016. More information is available at http://nickanimationstudio.com.
