Mace Coronel To Leave Cast Of "Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn" (Updated 10/5)

Nickelodeon star Mace Coronel, who portrays Dicky Harper on Nickelodeon's popular live-action comedy series Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, has announced the news in a post on his official Instagram profile page, @macecoronel, that he will be leaving the cast of NRDD soon.

"Hey guys so here's the news I can finally share! So in this picture I'm on a set for a new film I'm working on (no this isn't my real room). But basically I wanted to announce that as of 3 weeks ago I'm off Nicky Ricky Dicky Dawn!," Mace told his fans, adding "I made a mutual agreement with Nickelodeon and the show is going on without me, and I'm so excited to be back acting in some serious and more diverse projects. So say goodbye to "Dicky". Love all 748k of you and I can't wait to move on and share the next stage of my life and work with all of you."

UPDATE (10/5): A Nickelodeon spokesperson has confirmed to Deadline that the network and Coronel “mutually parted ways” during the summer, noting that “it was a mutual decision” and a decision has not been made on Season 5.

There has been no further comment from either side but Deadline notes that there may have been simmering tensions on the set of the sitcom for awhile and growing issues and personality conflict among the young cast. They came to a head toward the end of production on the upcoming fourth season, with the network and Coronel abruptly severing ties in August with around around five episodes left to film from the show’s 14-episode fourth season. Production was completed without him, wrapping on Sept. 22 for a 2018 premiere.

The series, which premiered on Nickelodeon USA on September 13, 2014, has been a consistently strong ratings performer for Nickelodeon. The most recent 24-episode Season 3, which concluded its run on August 5, was up 4% vs. Season 2 with kids 2-11 and 6-11, according to the network, and Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn finished the most recent quarter as Nick’s top-rated series. While Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn is one of Nickelodeon’s top performers, sources indicate it would be very hard — or even unlikely — for the comedy to continue without Coronel.

Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn follows the adventures of the 12-year-old Harper quadruplets Nicky (Aidan Gallagher), Ricky (Casey Simpson), Dicky (Coronel) and Dawn (Lizzy Greene) who don’t have much in common, except their birthday, but know they can do anything when they stick together. Rounding out the cast are Allison Munn (That '70s Show) who plays the Harpers' mother Anne, and Brian Stepanek (The Loud House) as their father Tom.

In addition to Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, Mace has also featured in many additional Nickelodeon projects, such as Santa Hunters, Nickelodeon Slime Cup 2016, ReactToThat, Paradise Run, Nickelodeon's Sizzling Summer Camp Special, Nickelodeon's Ho-Ho Holiday Special, Nickelodeon's Not So Valentine's Special, and Nickelodeon's Ultimate Halloween Costume Party. Mace was also nominated for a pretigious blimp award

It's currently unknown how Nickelodeon will continue Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn with Mace's absence. Nickelodeon could recast the character, however, Mace is a central character, and the series, which recently completed its third season this summer and is currently shooting its fourth season, has been well established. Another option might be to send Mace's character, Dicky, to a boarding school, where he lives away from home.

It's sad to see Mace leave Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, however, NickALive! wishes Mace all the best for the future, and is sure this won't be the last we see of Mace on our screens!

Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn is created by Matt Fleckenstein and executive-produced by Michael Feldman and Fleckenstein. Feldman will continue in the same capacity for Season 4. Fleckenstein stepped down as executive producer after Season 2, segueing to a consultant capacity.
