'The Loud House' Episode 'Frog Wild' Wins 'Outstanding Children's Programming' Award At The HSUS' 32nd Annual Genesis Awards

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has announced the PAWsome news that Nickelodeon's hit animated series The Loud House has won the "Outstanding Children's Programming" award at the 32nd annual Genesis Awards for the episode "Frog Wild"!

Presented by the Humane Society of the United States, the awards honor the news and entertainment media for their outstanding reporting and creative portrayals of animal protection issues. The HSUS recognizes the best in media coverage for works aired or released in 2017.

Stories that celebrate the human-animal bond (Megan Leavey, War Dog: A Soldier’s Best Friend) and beloved pigs (Okja, The Simpsons, The Last Pig) figure prominently among the winners of the 32nd Genesis Awards. Across 18 news and entertainment categories, the awards recognize works that call attention to the welfare of animals. The HSUS applauds all 30 of the outstanding 32nd Genesis Awardees for using their diverse media platforms to raise awareness of animal protection concerns.

In The Loud House episode "Frog Wild", when Lincoln finds out his class is dissecting frogs, he and Lana embark on a mission to rescue them. The episode was named "Outstanding Children's Programming" award in the 32nd annual Genesis Awards for its charming and inspiring story of student empowerment and compassion for animals. When the main character and his best friend and pet frog Hops learn of an upcoming frog dissection class, they and other students decide to protest. Succeeding in opening the eyes of their teacher to appreciate frogs as something more than objects, the students convert the frog tank to an enriched ‘frog paradise’ where they can care for the animals, rather than dissect them. The episode premiered on Nickelodeon USA on Tuesday 14th March 2017. Credits: Story by Darin McGowan; written by Kevin Sullivan; produced by Karen Malach; directed by Kyle Marshall; storyboard by Kyle Marshall, Ari Castleton. The episode can be watched online at nick.com and the Nick App.
