Nickelodeon superstar and social media phenomenon JoJo Siwa has a perfectly on-brand response to a parent who was less than supportive of her recent coming out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. As captured by the @commentsbycelebs account, an Instagram user wrote under Siwa’s video talking about her coming out, “My daughter will never watch you again.” To this, Siwa replied, “Okay!”
This is chef’s-kiss perfect. Siwa’s a star; it’ll hardly impact her to lose the support of one kid from one family. And if this parent thought their bigoted comment would somehow hurt Siwa’s feelings or change her decision to be open about her identity, then that’s just goofy. LGBTQ+ kids are brave and strong, and 17-year-old Siwa’s whole thing is being a beam of positivity, a pillar of fun. She’s not going back in the closet because you’re a closed-minded grouch, Instagram rando! “Okay!”
The only drawback is that the parent may be raising their daughter to hate people different than themselves, which just isn't on in this day and age. Hopefully they can learn that being part of the LGBTQ+ community is perfectly fine.
At the time that it was captured by Comments by Celebs, the message from the parent had over 5,000 likes, which is a little distressing…but Siwa’s cheery rebuttal had over 50,000.
In the video Siwa talks about how happy she is to be out, and how much support she’s received from friends, family, and fans. And the people applauding her are much louder than anyone booing her. Kim Kardashian, whose kids are Siwa fans, wrote on the original video, “I love you ❤️๐งก๐๐๐๐.” Siwa's co-Nickelodeon star Jamie Lynn Spears wrote, “♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ sooooo happy to see you happy!!!!”
Even Nickelodeon is openly cheering for her. The official Instagram page for the channel posted a picture of Siwa with the caption, “Never been more proud ♥️๐งก๐๐๐๐.” Nickelodeon has been a long-time advocate of LGBTQ+ rights, including featuring LGBTQ+ characters in their hit shows!
“Personally I have never, ever, ever been this happy before, and it feels really awesome. I’ve been happy for a little bit now. It’s just so, so, so awesome,” JoJo Siwa said on IG Stories a few days ago, per People. And that’s all that matters.

ViacomCBS, through one of its subsidiaries, announced in August last year that it had entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Paws, Inc., the entity holding global intellectual property rights to the Garfield and the U.S. Acres (a.k.a. Orson’s Farm) franchises--including corresponding rights related to content, consumer products, and location-based experiences for the Nickelodeon portfolio.
The acquisition of Garfield is part of Nickelodeon’s strategy to be the home for the biggest franchises kids and families love, and it expands Nickelodeon’s growing portfolio of influential properties that already includes SpongeBob SquarePants, PAW Patrol, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Blue’s Clues & You!, and The Adventures of Paddington series, as well as the the forthcoming first-ever SpongeBob spinoff, Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, Big Nate and all-new animated Star Trek.

Nickelodeon Streaming ‘Learn to Draw Live!’ on Instagram
As part of the network’s #KidsTogether initiative to keep young viewers informed, active and entertained during the current global health crisis, Nickelodeon has announced a series of exciting drawing tutorials coming to Instagram Live. Learn to Draw Live! will bring on Nickelodeon animation artists and surprise voice talent guests to show fans how to recreate their favorite characters from beloved NickToons.
The first back of Learn to Draw Live! sessions will roll out over the next couple of weeks. The fun begins Wednesday, April 15 at 12 p.m. PT / 3 p.m. ET with supervising producer Jim Mortenson on @nickrewind, drawing nostalgia characters from various properties. On Thursday, April 16, tune in to catch Ant Blades on @nickelodeon drawing characters from his delightful new odd-couple comedy, It’s Pony. Then on Friday, round out the week with supervising director Jessica Borutski on @theloudhousecartoon drawing the overcrowded characters of hit series The Loud House.
Set for next week are storyboard artist Kevin Kobasic, who will be live on @nickjr April 21, and animation director Pablo Smith will take over @spongebob on April 24.

Bond with your children with online Nickelodeon cartoon drawing tutorial
The tutorials are streaming on Twitch this summer
Nickelodeon has a new way you can enjoy its cartoons that puts the power in your hands — and it could be a great way to bond with your children.
The Viacom-owned network recently released a list of drawing tutorials being posted on the video streaming service Twitch throughout the summer.
Initially drawn live on Instagram in April, each tutorial will be streamed on Nick’s Twitch channel on Wednesdays or Thursdays now through June 10. Producers, storyboard artists and creators of hit shows such as “It’s Pony” and “Spongebob SquarePants” are behind the streams. Each segment guides viewers on how to draw keys characters from Nick’s programs. The Twitch streaming kicked off May 13 with “Big Nate” supervising producer Jim Mortensen. Mortensen, who has worked on “Kung Fu Panda” and “The Fairly Odd Parents,” took viewers along to draw classic Nick characters. They include Jimmy Neutron from “The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius,” Angelica from “Rugrats” and Rocko from “Rocko’s Modern Life.”

While Nickelodeon is known for its animated series, it has live-action programming, too.One such show, “Young Dylan,” is from Atlanta filmmaker Tyler Perry. The series debuted in February and stars child rapper Dylan Gilmer, who grew famous thanks in part to an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” performing as Young Dylan. Using his stage persona on the series, Young Dylan throws his aunt, uncle and cousins for a loop when he suddenly moves in with them on the show.

Nickelodeon is treating fans to a special Instagram Live tonight on the @SpongeBob Instagram account featuring The SpongeBob Musical: Live On Stage! cast members answering questions and competing in trivia challenges at 6:15 p.m. ET.
Hosted by Kelvin Moon Loh (Perch Perkins), guests Ethan Slater (SpongeBob), Danny Skinner (Patrick), and Christina Sajous (Sandy) will join individually via video to share with viewers their SpongeBob insights and offer a behind-the-scenes look at the musical. The special pre-show leads into an encore airing of The SpongeBob Musical Sing-A-Long at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.
