Nickelodeon Shows Solidarity with Black Lives Matter Following Death of George Floyd

The US has been convulsed by nationwide protests over the death of an African-American man in police custody.

George Floyd, 46, died after being arrested by police outside a store in Minneapolis, Minnesota in which seems to be another act of racist violence by police.

Footage of the arrest on 25 May shows a white police officer, Derek Chauvin, kneeling on Mr Floyd's neck while he was pinned to the floor. Mr Chauvin, 44, has since been charged with murder.

The key events that led to Mr Floyd's death happened within just 30 minutes.

To show solidarity with their Black colleagues, creators, partners, and audiences, and to condemn all acts of racism, discrimination, and all senseless acts of violence, Nickelodeon has issued the following statement across its social media network:

Black lives matter. Black culture matters. Black communities matter. Like Nickelodeon, I too stand in solidarity, and condemn all acts of racism, discrimination, and all senseless acts of violence. Let's know let George Floyd's death be in vain.

R.I.P. George Floyd.
