‘PAW Patrol’ Toys Come to Life in New AR Experience

BLE 2021: The PAW Patrol pups are part of a new AR experience thanks to a partnership between Spin Master and Poplar Studio.

Consumers can experience the true scale of the PAW Patrol toys in a 3D capacity before bringing them home, thanks to a new augmented reality feature!

London-based Poplar Studio, an augmented reality (AR) and 3D creative platform and Spin Master, the global children’s entertainment company and creators of Nickelodeon's beloved preschool franchise PAW Patrol have teamed up to create the experience.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Spin Master to bring the tower from the beloved PAW Patrol to life,” says David Ripert, chief executive officer and co-founder, Poplar Studio. “Throughout the development process we wanted to make sure that the experience was simple and engaging to use. Since the pandemic, we’ve seen a lot more interest in businesses looking to develop their interactive customer experiences through augmented reality and look forward to continue working on exciting projects such as the PAW Patrol AR toy experience.”

Created for Facebook via SparkAR, the feature allows users to bring Ultimate City Tower and Marshall’s Transforming City Fire Truck from PAW Patrol: The Movie to life virtually. With a quick scan, fans can place the toys within their own environment and activate lights, sounds and transformations true to the physical toy form. Additional features include animated AR versions of the pups that appear in the toys including seeing all six pups in their City Lookout Tower.

To make the experience even more engaging, Poplar Studio replaced the “Tap to place” text, customizing it with the PAW Patrol logo.

“Our PAW Patrol fans have developed deep connections with the characters and their adventures, extending beyond the screen inspiring preschoolers through play,” says Laura Henderson, executive vice president, marketing, Spin Master. “The new AR feature allows families to experience the true scale and attention to detail of the toys in a virtual environment before unwrapping them in real life.”

Poplar Studio previously partnered with Nickelodeon to create SpongeBob AR experience to promote The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run.
