Christy Knowings, Star of Nickelodeon's 'All That,' Passes Away Aged 46

Christy Knowings, best known for her time on the Nickelodeon's All That, sadly passed away on Tuesday, August 11. She was 46.

Knowings suffered an asthma attack that left her with brain damage, according to TMZ, and she was hospitalized on Friday. TMZ, which broke the news of Knowings’ death, reported that she was placed on life support in Los Angeles and was removed on Tuesday night. Her aunt, Tyleah Joseph, announced Knowings’ death on Wednesday on Facebook.

Knowings starred on the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series from Season 4 through Season 6, appearing in 32 episodes in total.  Her characters included Penny Lane, the dental assistant for Dr. Bynes, Lieutenant Fondue, Jessica from Whateverrr!!!, Yoko from CJ and the Cloudy Knights, Brenda Stone from Channel 6 1/2 News, and Winter Wonders from What Do You Do?, a parody of the Nickelodeon game show Figure It Out, in which Winter Wonders was a parody of host Summer Sanders. Knowings herself was a panelist a few times on Figure It Out.

Knowings joined All That after being first discovered on the pilot for a Rosie O’Donnell-hosted sketch show called And Now This!, which was produced by Nickelodeon.

Knowings also made a small cameo for the 10th anniversary of All That in 2005. She also appeared on three episodes of “Sesame Street,” across seasons 39, 41 and 42.

Outside of All That, Knowings also appeared on three episodes of Sesame Street along with her twin brother, Chris — who was a fellow member of Nickelodeon shows like Taina and The Nick Cannon Show. After acting on All That, Knowings took a step back from Hollywood but released a folk music single in 2020 titled “To the World.”

“Christy was a multi-talented lady. Whether it was singing, acting, dancing, she was always creating. Always professional and dedicated to her work,” her manager Al Hill said in a statement to Variety.

Following the news of her death, her former co-star Kenan Thompson posted a tribute on Instagram, saying the news “hit hard.”

“Rest well Christy!!! Never could have imagined this day!! Sending so much love to her family!! She was a real one and one of the funniest people out here!!! Gonna miss you buddy!!! Show christyknowings ★ some love y’all!!!”

All That alumna Alisa Reyes commented, "May she rest in peace my heart is so sad 🙏🏽."

Fellow Nickelodeon star Josh Server, who performed alongside Knowings during her stint on All That, followed with his own post honoring Knowings.

"This is such devastating news 💔💔💔 Christy was a light in every room and was such a kind soul. And Christy was an absolute scene stealer!!!!!" he captioned a 2024 photo of the two of them in a group of All That alumni.

"Every time we performed she made every one around her better. She came in late in our run and never missed a beat. So sad for my whole Nick family. Sending love and prayers to her loved ones. Rest Easy 🕊️"
