Christy Knowings, Star of Nickelodeon's 'All That,' Passes Away Aged 46

Christy Knowings, best known for her time on the Nickelodeon's All That, sadly passed away on Tuesday, August 11. She was 46.

Knowings suffered an asthma attack that left her with brain damage, according to TMZ, and she was hospitalized on Friday. TMZ, which broke the news of Knowings’ death, reported that she was placed on life support in Los Angeles and was removed on Tuesday night. Her aunt, Tyleah Joseph, announced Knowings’ death on Wednesday on Facebook.

Knowings starred on the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series from Season 4 through Season 6, appearing in 32 episodes in total.  Her characters included Penny Lane, the dental assistant for Dr. Bynes, Lieutenant Fondue, Jessica from Whateverrr!!!, Yoko from CJ and the Cloudy Knights, Brenda Stone from Channel 6 1/2 News, and Winter Wonders from What Do You Do?, a parody of the Nickelodeon game show Figure It Out, in which Winter Wonders was a parody of host Summer Sanders. Knowings herself was a panelist a few times on Figure It Out.

Knowings joined All That after being first discovered on the pilot for a Rosie O’Donnell-hosted sketch show called And Now This!, which was produced by Nickelodeon.

Knowings also made a small cameo for the 10th anniversary of All That in 2005. She also appeared on three episodes of “Sesame Street,” across seasons 39, 41 and 42.

Outside of All That, Knowings also appeared on three episodes of Sesame Street along with her twin brother, Chris — who was a fellow member of Nickelodeon shows like Taina and The Nick Cannon Show. After acting on All That, Knowings took a step back from Hollywood but released a folk music single in 2020 titled “To the World.”

“Christy was a multi-talented lady. Whether it was singing, acting, dancing, she was always creating. Always professional and dedicated to her work,” her manager Al Hill said in a statement to Variety.

Following the news of her death, her former co-star Kenan Thompson posted a tribute on Instagram, saying the news “hit hard.”

“Rest well Christy!!! Never could have imagined this day!! Sending so much love to her family!! She was a real one and one of the funniest people out here!!! Gonna miss you buddy!!! Show christyknowings ★ some love y’all!!!”

All That alumna Alisa Reyes commented, "May she rest in peace my heart is so sad 🙏🏽."

Fellow Nickelodeon star Josh Server, who performed alongside Knowings during her stint on All That, followed with his own post honoring Knowings.

"This is such devastating news 💔💔💔 Christy was a light in every room and was such a kind soul. And Christy was an absolute scene stealer!!!!!" he captioned a 2024 photo of the two of them in a group of All That alumni.

"Every time we performed she made every one around her better. She came in late in our run and never missed a beat. So sad for my whole Nick family. Sending love and prayers to her loved ones. Rest Easy 🕊️"

Aaron Carter Passes Away, Aged 34

Aaron Carter, a rapper, singer, and actor who appeared on many Nickelodeon shows during the late-90s and early-2000s, has sadly passed away aged 34. In memory of the late performer, below is his hit song, "Leave It Up To Me", from the Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius movie soundtrack.

Among the Nickelodeon shows Aaron made an appearance on were Figure It Out, Rocket Power, All That, Slime Time Live, Kids' Choice Awards, U-Pick Live, and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. In 2000, he contributed the song "Life Is a Party" to the Rugrats in Paris movie soundtrack, and in 2001, performed three tracks, "Leave It Up to Me", "Go Jimmy Jimmy" and "AC's Alien Nation", for the Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius film soundtrack. "Go Jimmy Jimmy" was also heard in the movie's spin-off TV series The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius. In 2001, Aaron took part in the TEENick Presents Aaron's House Party Tour.

Vanessa Baden Talks About Working on 'Kenan & Kel'

Actor Vanessa Baden isn’t the cute little girl from Nickelodeon anymore. She has gone on to become a writer, producer and director for many shows, and she is also a mother.

The Emmy winner recently opened up to Atlanta Black Star about her childhood in Hollywood, how she discovered writing as a passion and a necessity, and the challenges of balancing work and her personal life.

Baden began her acting career on Gullah Gullah Island for Nick Jr., but she really hit her stride when she landed the role of Kyra Rockmore on Nickelodeon’s hit show Kenan & Kel. Alongside some true talent, as Kenan Thompson went on to become a household name, Baden’s energy and charm shone through as Kenan's on-screen sister Kyra, who had a massive crush on Kenan's best friend, Kel (Kel Mitchell).

“I can remember the general feel and tone and something that I was recently telling my son was that we still shot in front of a live studio audience on ‘Kenan and Kel,’” Baden told Atlanta Black Star.

“So, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday were rehearsal days. … We filmed Wednesday and Thursday and then we would get a few pick-up shots the top half of Friday. Then after lunch, they would load in the live studio audience and you would run the whole entire show almost like theater in front of the studio audience to get their real-time reactions.” 

The entire experience was a blast for these Nickelodeon regulars. Like Baden, they got to mix and mingle with other kids in Hollywood.

“On an artistic level, I don’t think there’s anything better than performing in front of a live studio audience,” the 36-year-old said. “You’re truly doing theater week in and week out. And you’re learning, but I just remember the electricity of it. … You’re getting hyped and you’re trying to get your energy up and everybody’s dancing and everybody’s doing whatever.

The show also had former child actors as their directors. “When we were doing ‘Kenan and Kel,’ we had Malcom Jamal Warner from ‘The Cosby Show,’” she said. “We had Kim Fields from ‘Facts of Life’ and ‘Living Single.’ Ryan Robbins, who was one of our producers but also directed us often, was from ‘Head of the Class.’”

Those veterans offered the young actors some valuable advice. “And one of the things that they would always tell us is, ‘If you guys wanna have longevity in this arena, you’re going to have to do other things because there’s going to be times when age-wise you’re at a weird place and there are ebbs and flows in the creative part.’”

For Baden, the example those mentors set was taken to heart. “I really attached myself to Kim Fields. I loved her. I felt like I saw myself a lot in her and she was a director. So I thought essentially that that was going to be the path I took. I was going to be a director.”

After four years on Kenan & Kel, Baden would go on to be a panelist on Nickelodeon's hit game show, Figure It Out. She even broke into film and was cast as Lee-Ruth in the dark historical drama Rosewood.

Baden feels lucky to have been a part of the Hollywood child celebrity scene. She still bumps into people from her time on Nickelodeon and has remained close friends with Kenan Thompson long after their show wrapped.

While she saw success as a child actor, she decided to put acting on hold and go to college and attended Florida State. Once she graduated, she decided to go back to Hollywood, but noticed a change in the industry. She revealed that at that time, opportunities for Black actors were scarce.

“There were like seven things that had Black people in them and they were recycling the same three girls. It was Meagan Good, Jurnee Smollett or Lauren London. If they couldn’t get one of those three, someone new might pop in but [it was those three] who they were going for,” she claimed.

Marcus Stroman Once Won $100 on Nickelodeon's 'Figure It Out'

Nickelodeon's hit '90s game show Figure It Out always had at least one world-class athlete on the show thanks to host and Olympic gold medalist Summer Sanders, but one episode was also graced with another Major League talent, although he was more of a little leaguer at the time.

Former Toronto Blue Jays ace Marcus Stroman was chosen out of the audience at age 6 for a chance to win $100 worth of Geoffrey Dollars from Toys "R" Us.

The popular show originally ran between 1997-1999, was one of the network’s most popular shows, having a panel of network stars try and guess hidden talents of its young contestants.

During breaks between rounds the show would give away prizes to members of the audience, sometimes from random selections. The hilarious unearthed video, unearthed by the Mets Twitter fan account @Metsthrowbacks just hours after it was announced that the Long Island native and baseball ace would be returning to New York, features Stroman as a child being announced as the winner of a $100 Toys "R" Us gift card.

Stroman won the big prize, thanks to Amanda Bynes (All That, The Amanda Show) and Weinerville’s Marc Weiner (Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego, Go!, Dora and Friends: Into the City) both performing the “secret slime action.” The starter pulled in over $500,000 last year, but none of that money was anywhere near as exciting as those sweet, slime-covered Geoffrey Dollars.

In the video, Stroman, who would be around 6 years old at the time of recording, can be seen next to next dad, Swole Poppa Stroman, grinning, standing up and clapping, doing a couple fist pumps in the same animated way he has notoriously replicated on the field as an MLB player.

The 28-year-old from Medford, NY was one of the biggest names on the Major League Baseball trading block, linked to contenders the likes of the Yankees, Astros, and Red Sox, but no one had predicted the floundering Mets, five games under. 500 and six games out of the second Wild Card spot, to make a power move for the 2019 All-Star.

Marcus Stroman isn't the only child who made it big after appearing on Figure It Out: Country singer/songwriter Hunter Hayes also appeared as a contestant on the show in 1998!

Danny Tamberelli and Wife Katelyn Detweiler Welcome Baby Son, Alfred "Alfie" Noel Tamberelli

A huge congratulations to '90s Nickelodeon star Danny Tamberelli and his wife, Katelyn Detweiler, who have just welcomed their first baby together!

The former Nickelodeon star, 37, and his wife Katelyn Detweiler welcomed their first child, a son, on Friday, June 14, 2019 — just in time for Tamberelli’s first Father’s Day — the couple announced Monday on Instagram.

Alfred “Alfie” Noel Tamberelli was born at 3:19 a.m. in New York City after a “very short, totally natural labor,” according to the new dad.

“Was a little busy yesterday but got to celebrate Father’s Day for the first time and it was the most special day! He and momma are doing great!” Tamberelli captioned a series of photos of his new family of three.

“Around two hours total from admittance to delivery!! She’s a wonder woman and he’s the most precious thing in the world. I never knew what sense of purpose, devotion and unconditional love this would produce, but it makes my head spin with gratitude.”

On her own Instagram, Detweiler shared a gallery of hospital photos, writing, “So happy to be a mama to this special human, and so happy to watch @dannytamberelli celebrate his first father’s day, already a master swaddler and my own personal diaper mentor. Alfie is the luckiest to have a daddy like you, and I can’t wait to spend this entire summer (and beyond) weeping along to “beautiful boy, darling boy” with you while we fall deeper in love with our own beautiful, darling boy.”

He and momma are doing great! He was born very early Friday morning at NYU Tisch 6/14 at 3:19am after a very short, totally natural labor. Around two hours total from admittance to delivery!! She’s a wonder woman and he’s the most precious thing in the world. I never knew what sense of purpose, devotion and unconditional love this would produce, but it makes my head spin with gratitude. Mommy, Daddy and Alfie are back home in Brooklyn now loving and learning about each other. Side note: I wept driving over the Brooklyn Bridge on the way home listening to Sinatra explaining to Alfie how important that bridge was and how much his namesake, my grandfather, loved Sinatra. Daddy loves you forever. Can’t wait to see what lies ahead.

Tamberelli and Detweiler revealed their pregnancy news in February, with the actor sharing a photo of his wife showing off her baby bump.

“Doesn’t matter what day it is, my love for you is always on 11! Can’t begin to explain the happiness I feel knowing that we are rolling into parenthood together, so in love and ready to continue our adventure!” he captioned it.

“Could be a Pete or Petunia … We opted for a life surprise! More to come mid June!!” added Tamberelli, referring to his character Little Pete on The Adventures of Pete & Pete and the character’s tattoo of a woman named Petunia.

“Three deterellis > two deterellis! celebrating all the love every day with my two beating hearts so psyched to watch @dannytamberelli become the world’s coolest dad, and to answer the burning question: will the ginger gene live on in our little junebug?!” the then-mom-to-be shared alongside her own announcement.

The couple wed in May 2018 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, following over a year of dating after meeting on the dating app Tinder. Among the members of the bridal party — including 12 bridesmaids and 12 groomsmen — was Michael Maronna, who was Tamberelli’s titular costar on Pete & Pete.

Tamberelli is also best known for his roles as Tommy in The Mighty Ducks, Arnold Perlstein in The Magic School Bus and as one of the cast members for Nickelodeon’s All That from seasons 4 through 6. He also guest starred on Nickelodeon's Space Cases and was a regular panellist on Figure It Out.

Ahead of their little one’s arrival, the couple celebrated at a “June bug”-themed baby shower featuring gender-neutral decorations and lots of treats. Guests even wore “antenna” headbands!

Danny Tamberelli and Wife Katelyn Detweiler Announce They Are Expecting Their First Child

A huge congratulations are in order for '90s Nickelodeon star Danny Tamberelli and his wife, Katelyn Detweiler, who have just announced that they are expecting their first child together!

The 37-year-old comedian, who starred in hit '90s Nickelodeon series as The Adventures of Pete & Pete, All That and Figure it Out, posted a photo of his wife holding her bump on Instagram, writing on Friday, “Doesn’t matter what day it is, my love for you is always on 11! Can’t begin to explain the happiness I feel knowing that we are rolling into parenthood together, so in love and ready to continue our adventure!”

He then made a reference to his days on Pete & Pete, joking, “Could be a Pete or Petunia… We opted for a life surprise! More to come mid June!!”

Tamberelli married his author wife in May last year in Pennsylvania.

His former Pete & Pete co-star, Michael Maronna (Big Pete), attended the ceremony along with 220 guests. They honeymooned in Portugal.

The couple met on Tinder in September 2014, and Tamberelli popped the question in 2017.

Tamberelli broke the news a day after Nickelodeon announced that the network are reviving its '90s sketch show All That, which, executive produced by fellow All That alum Kenan Thompson (Kenan & Kel, Good Burger, SNL) will feature a mix new and old cast members and skits.

Speaking to Page Six, Tamberelli, who appeared on over three years of its original run, revealed that he thinks Thompson’s new revival of the Nickelodeon sketch comedy classic is a great idea.

“I think it’s awesome!” Tamberelli said.

“All That was a show that reached out to so many kids from all different backgrounds and brought them all together through laughter.”

He added, “I mean, all kids agree that feet and cheese are funny punchlines.”

Tamberelli also loves that the original show, which ran from 1994-2005, has spanned generations of fans.

“That’s one of my favorite things that people say to me when I get recognized from All That: ‘I have been showing my kids,'” he said. “Passing it down is the highest form of flattery.”

Nickelodeon announced on Thursday that the show — which starred Thompson, Kel Mitchell, Amanda Bynes, Josh Server and Lori Beth Denberg — will feature a whole new cast.

Tamberelli, who is about to go on a live tour for his podcast, “Danny and Mike,” which features his Pete & Pete co-star Mike Maronna, said he would love to be involved with the new show if asked.

“It was one of the best times of my life,” he said.

Remember When Hunter Hayes Was on Nickelodeon's 'Figure It Out'?

In 1998, a young Hunter Hayes worked to stump the panel and impress the live audience during an episode of Nickelodeon's hit game show, Figure It Out. The entire adorable episode also stars host Summer Sanders and features a panel featuring some of the biggest Nickelodeon stars in the '90s.

The object of the game is for the panelists - Lori Beth Denberg (All That), Kel Mitchell (All That, Kenan & Kel, Good Burger, Game Shakers), Josh Server (All That) and Kevin Kopelow (All That, Kenan & Kel, Good Burger, and co-creator of Nickelodeon's upcoming Cousins For Life TV show) - to figure out Hayes' special talent. There's slime involved (of course) and prizes awarded. I won't spoil the ending, but you'll want to stick around to see Hayes sing and play accordion, performing "Jambalaya" for the crowd. With a thick Cajun drawl and overflowing confidence, the 6-year-old left everyone in disbelief.



Since his stint on Figure It Out, its safe to say that Hunter has hit the big time as a country music singer/songwriter. He also returned to his Nickelodeon roots in 2016 to guest star in an episode of Bella and the Bulldogs.

Danny Tamberelli Weds Katelyn Detweiler

Danny Tamberelli, who starred on the hit '90s Nickelodeon shows The Adventures of Pete & Pete and All That wed literary agent and Transcendent author Katelyn Detweiler on Saturday (5th May 2018) night!

“It’s magical, and it also feels exactly the same as it was last week,” Tamberelli, 36, told Page Six while driving to Montauk, where Tamberelli proposed last year, for a post-wedding vacation before the couple jets off to Portugal for their honeymoon next week.

“We did get matching tattoos last month with each other’s handwriting on our bodies, so it felt pretty official then because there’s no real going back when that person’s inked on you forever,” Detweiler joked, adding, “It’s expensive and time-consuming to get a tattoo erased. So, I’m hoping that we don’t have to do that.”

The Brooklyn-based couple, who met on Tinder in September 2014, tied the knot in front of 220 guests at SteelStacks in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on Saturday evening. They each had 12 bridesmaids or groomsmen, including Michael Maronna, who played Tamberelli’s older brother Big Pete on The Adventures of Pete & Pete.

Maronna told Page Six, “Little Pete once said, ‘Love is a many-splendored thing’ and nowhere else have I seen the splendors I saw at Dan and Katelyn’s wedding. I was very grateful to share the day with two great families — one that I’ve known and loved for a long time, and one that I just met, but I already like a whole lot.”

The bridal party all stayed together at the local Sayre Mansion, which was once owned by a railroad tycoon in the 1880s, and held their rehearsal dinner at a low-key diner in the area on Friday night.

After the ceremony and cocktail hour, Tamberelli, who is in multiple bands including Jounce and The Undone Sweaters, played a few cover songs and an original song he wrote for his new bride.

“Danny convinced me to join him for the first one and I am not a singer, but I love him and that was his wedding request,” Detweiler said, adding they did their duet to “Sugar, Sugar” by The Archies.

Tamberelli also surprised her when the entire wedding party got up on stage to sing Joe Cocker’s version of “With a Little Help From My Friends.”
