Uncle Iroh Voice Actor Weighs In On 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Creators Exiting Netflix's Live-Action Remake

Avatar: The Last Airbender voice actor Greg Baldwin weighs in on Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko's exit from the Netflix adaptation.

Avatar: The Last Airbender voice actor Greg Baldwin weighs in on Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko's exit from Netflix's live-action adaptation. Avatar ran on Nickelodeon for three seasons from 2005 to 2008 and, to this day, remains one of the most beloved animated shows of all time. M. Night Shyamalan attempted to bring the property to the big screen with The Last Airbender in 2010, but to say it fell short of fans' expectations would be putting it lightly. Because of that, fans were wary when Netflix announced its intention to develop a live-action Avatar series back in 2018. The only bit of positivity came from the fact that Avatar's original creators DiMartino and Konietzko would be involved.

However, fans got some bad news last week when DiMartino and Konietzko announced they had exited the Netflix adaptation. Both issued statements explaining they were brought on to fully execute their vision, but things hadn't been progressing the way they had expected. Konietzko, in particular, described Netflix's handling of the series "created what I felt was a negative and unsupportive environment." As a result, fans were quick to express their disappointment on social media, and now one of Avatar's stars has joined in.

More Nick: Avatar: The Last Airbender: Iroh's Voice Actor Reveals Why He'll Never Perform 'Leave From The Vine'

Baldwin, who joined the show in season 3 as the voice of Uncle Iroh following original actor Mako Iwamatsu's passing, shared his thoughts toward the Netflix Avatar adaptation now that DiMartino and Konietzko aren't involved. After first declaring "Wow. Just...wow!" in response to DiMartino's open letter, Baldwin continued by saying he'll "have to ruminate on this." He explained, "I don't know if I trust Netflix to create a decent adaptation of ATLA without the creative vision and input of its creators," and added that past experiences have made him uncertain about this endeavor. You can see Baldwin's full Twitter thread below.

Baldwin's thoughts seem to echo what fans have been saying, as many are concerned about how Netflix will choose to adapt Avatar. The biggest worry for many is that Netflix will end up whitewashing the series, just as The Last Airbender did. Other fans are nervous that Netflix will end up putting a greater focus on the ships, such as Aang and Katara or even Katara and Zuko. Having been burned by a previous live-action adaptation, Avatar fans certainly have good reason to be concerned.

However, as DiMartino said in his statement, there's still a chance Netflix's Avatar could turn out to be a success. It just won't be what DiMartino and Konietzko envisioned. At this point, it's hard to say exactly how Netflix's adaptation will turn out because so little is known; there have been no casting announcements or any sort of images aside from Appa's design from the original 2018 announcement. The fate of Netflix's Avatar might be up in the air, but plenty of people, including the original stars, are concerned.

Avatar: The Last Airbender: Iroh's Voice Actor Reveals Why He'll Never Perform 'Leave From The Vines'

Avatar: The Last Airbender crafted some of the best characters to ever appear on Nickelodeon, but the top award went to Iron. As an uncle and mentor to Prince Zuko, the elderly man spouted wisdom as often as he did jokes. His love for tea was only matched by his desire to see the world at peace, and much of his character came to life thanks to Mako Iwamatsu. The actor oversaw Iroh for a number of years, and the star's successor has revealed why he will never perform a song written to honor Iwamatsu.

Taking to Twitter, fans were given the lowdown when Greg Baldwin answered a fan-question about the song "Leaves From The Vine". The song was sung in one of the show's most memorable episodes. Iroh performed the song at the grave of his late son Lu Ten to celebrate the latter's birthday. To this day, "Leaves From The Vine" remains a favorite amongst fans, but Baldwin isn't interested in performing the song for fans.

For those who do not know, the song was included in Avatar: The Last Airbender as a memorial to Iwamatsu as well. The actor passed away in 2006 after doing the voice of General Iroh in the show's first two seasons. Before production on season three began, Iwamatsu passed away after fighting esophageal cancer for some time. He did manage to record this song before his death, and it has become one of the most defining parts of his legacy.

It is not surprising Baldwin declines the request to sing the song. Not only is it a difficult one to get through but it is deeply personal to Iwamatsu's death. No one can do the song just like the actor did, and fans are content listening to the song's original version for as long as they can.

Do you agree with the actor's stance here? Let me know in the comments below!

Amanda Bynes Graduates Fashion Design School

A huge congratulations to Amanda Bynes, who has graduated from fashion design school!

The 33-year-old actor and Nickelodeon alum celebrated her graduation from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising with a rare photo Monday on Twitter.

The picture shows Bynes wearing her cap and gown as she poses with a classmate at their graduation ceremony.

"FIDM graduate 2019 #fidmgraduation," she captioned the post.

Amanda's got her hair pretty long right now, and it's dyed blonde and pink.

The graduation ceremony was attended by 12,000 people and went down Monday night at Staples Center in L.A., where Amanda walked across the stage with an Associate's degree in fashion design. Eyewitnesses have said that Amanda seemed ecstatic -- she was getting tons of love from her teachers and peers, and posed for some selfies with her classmates.

Bynes first enrolled at FIDM in 2014. She temporarily dropped out but returned to the school in 2015, and received her associate degree in November.

"She's doing fantastic, she really is," Leslie Grossman, who co-starred with Bynes in What I Like About You, said of the actor on Busy Tonight in December. "She's very eager to get back into acting, which I think she'll have no problem with. I think everyone wants to see her."

"She's also still really committed to doing fashion -- she's done so well," Grossman added. "I'm very, very proud of her. She's doing great."

Bynes had voiced interest in returning to acting in an interview with Paper in November.

The happy news comes months after Amanda rechecked herself into a facility in January. Her going back for treatment was a result of a backslide from being back in the spotlight after her Paper magazine cover story.

Amanda opened up a lot in the feature, revealing that starring role in 2006's "She's the Man" sent her into a spiral of depression. She also blamed a lot of her issues on drug use. At the time of the article -- November 2018 -- Amanda said she was 4 years sober.

Amanda was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and has been under a conservatorship for the past 5 years, but the problems began several years earlier.

Bynes landed her breakout role on the number-one entertainment brand for kids at the age of 10 in Nickelodeon's hit sketch show All That and later starred in her spin-off series, The Amanda Show from 1999 to 2002, which also helped launch the careers of Drake Bell and Josh Peck (Drake & Josh). Following The Amanda Show, Bynes went on to star in The WB sitcom What I Like About You, which ran between 2002-2006 and also aired on Nickelodeon UK, and star in movies, such as What a Girl Wants (2003), Robots (2005), Love Wrecked (2005), She's the Man (2006), and Hairspray (2007).

Bynes' former All That co-stars, Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, who are executive producing Nickelodeon's All That revival, have said that they are open to the actor making an appearance on the reboot.

Again, huge congrats Amanda!

Could 'Power Rangers Beast Morphers' be Getting a Green Ranger?

Power Rangers Beast Morphers recently got its new Gold (Nate, Abraham Rodriguez) and Silver (Steel, Jamie Linehan) Rangers, but it seems it might also get a Green Ranger at some point in the future. The best part is that the Green Ranger could end up being Kristina Ho, who fans know plays Betty on the show currently. This all stems from an exchange on Twitter when a colleague referenced Ho as the Green Power Ranger, which hasn't actually happened on the show yet, and thus raised a few eyebrows. Even more were raised when the tweet disappeared.

For context, @kirwinkle originally tweeted "A while back I wrote and directed this #scifi short film. Stars the current green power rangers @ItsKristinaHo as well as the talented @liaetomi @carsonnicely thank you to everyone who was involved in this project! vimeo.com/327515000".

Ho responded "Ahhh I remember filming this sooo long ago! This was so fun to make with you, Kate!! #badasswomen". The project they are referring to is a college film they worked on back in 2016, but it's that Green Ranger part that catches the eye, and now the tweet is deleted, so there could be some truth to it. It could also be a misunderstanding, with @kirwinkle just naming the green ranger as a coincidence. Thing is, that seems like a stretch, especially since there actually is a Green Ranger in one of the movies of the Sentai thatBeast Morphers is based on, Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters.

Granted, the Green Ranger doesn't have a lot of screentime (approximately two minutes), but then again that probably isn't a big deal, as Hasbro has used a great deal of new footage for Beast Morphers so far. Therefore, they could integrate a Green Ranger if they want to. It would also be a huge deal for Betty, as along with her brother Ben have become fan favorites already with just 8 episodes hitting television, and they will only grow in popularity as the show continues.

So, for the moment nothing is confirmed and this is just conjecture, but it would be great to see it happen. In fact, it would be fantastic for both Betty and Ben to become Rangers at some point, and here's hoping fans at least get one of them to happen.

Beast Morphers stars Rorrie D. Travis (Devon/Red), Jacqueline Scislowski (Zoey/Yellow), Jasmeet Baduwalia (Ravi/Blue), Abraham Rodriguez (Nate), Liana Ramirez (Roxy), Colby Strong (Blaze), Cosme Flores (Ben), Kristina Ho (Betty), Kevin Copeland (Mayor Daniels), and James Gordon (Handyman).

Power Rangers Beast Morphers airs Saturdays at 8:00 a.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon USA.

Josh Peck and Paige O'Brien Expecting First Child

Get ready to shout, "Hug me, brotha!" because your favorite Premiere employee is going to be a dad! Josh Peck, 27, best known as Josh Nichols on Nickelodeon's hit comedy series Drake & Josh, announced on Thursday (August 23) that he and his wife, Paige O'Brien, 31, who wed in a lavish ceremony in Malibu last year, are expecting their first child by sharing an adorable picture of her growing baby bump. "Oh baby. Literally, there's a baby in there," the actor cheekily captioned the photo on Instagram.

And the daddy-to-be was so excited he shared it on his Twitter too. He joked, "Guys I did it! I'm finally down to my goal weight! Oh and we're pregnant."

Paige shared the pic on her own Instagram, also adding a precious close-up of her baby bump. "We’re havin’ a baby!" she gushed.

Since Drake & Josh wrapped, the former child star has become a social media star, including on Vine and on his own YouTube channel, which has amassed over 1.5 million followers. The actor has also launched his own podcast series, Curious With Josh Peck. For the most part, the actor showcases the shenanigans he and his friends get into, but every once in a while the star reunites with his co-stars from his Nickelodeon days.

Just recently, he and Yvette Nicole Brown, who played Helen on Drake and Josh, got together to record an episode for his podcast, which took fans back to the good ole' days.

Update (8/23): Following Josh's announcement, his former Nickelodeon co-star Drake Bell has also shared his congratulations for the happy couple on Twitter and Instagram!:

Drake Bell Visits the 'Drake & Josh' House, But It's Gone! [Updated]

Say it isn’t so!

Drake Bell was feeling nostalgic and decided to make a trip to the old Drake & Josh house, but he discovered that it was no longer there!

“The Drake & Josh House is GONE!!” he captioned the Twitter video below.

In the video, Drake shows off the empty lot and says, “What’s up, everybody? I came to check out the Drake & Josh house, and it is gone! All that remains is this mailbox.”

“We know one person did it 😂 Megan 😂😂,” one fan commented, referring to Miranda Cosgrove‘s character, while another wrote, “Noooo my childhood😭😭😫.”

I might be crying a little bit, too.

The house was, of course, only used for exterior shots on Drake & Josh. The teen sitcom aired on Nickelodeon for four seasons from 2004 to 2007, including a pair of TV movies that premiered on the network in 2006 and 2008. Although it has been over a decade since the show ended, it remains a millennial classic, and it has been the subject of tons of reboot or reunion rumors over the last few years.

Although the house of was only used as exterior shots, the news follows the revelation that another iconic part of Nickelodeon's history was being torn down - Nickelodeon on Sunset, Nickelodeon's West Coast studios where much of the interior shots of Drake & Josh were filmed.

As the eponymous stars of the show, Drake Bell and Josh Peck have fanned the flames of possible bringing the series back a few times in the past, but all hope seemed lost after Bell vented about not being invited to Peck's wedding last year. However, Bell has since said that he and Peck have worked past that drama and have never stopped being brothers, adding in that he is always down for a Drake & Josh reboot whenever Peck is.

Update (7/16) - Via TooFab:

Why Drake Bell Hasn't Spoken to Josh Peck 'In a Little While' After All That Wedding Drama

The former "Drake & Josh" star also tells TooFab how he really feels about his sitcom house being demolished.

Drake Bell was not a happy camper when he went back to the house at the center of the beloved Nickelodeon comedy series, "Drake & Josh," only to find rubble.

"All that remains is this mailbox," he revealed in a video he shared on Twitter last week of his disappointing trip down memory lane.

The house in Encino, California, was demolished more than a decade after the final episode of the 2004 teen sitcom aired -- and Drake feels that was the wrong move.

"I think the Smithsonian should have been involved," the actor-turned-musician joked when he stopped by Studio TooFab. "There should have been petitions. I think there was a petition -- there had to have been! There's enough love for it that [a petition] didn't have to be created by someone involved with the show, and that's why it should have been a historical landmark."

Could Nickelodeon Be Planning To Revive 'Jimmy Neutron'?

3..2..1.. Gotta Blast!

Hot on the heels of Nickelodeon and Paramount Players announcing last week that they are bringing Nickelodeon's beloved '90s animated series Rugrats back with an all-new animated TV series and live-action/CG-animated movie, another much loved Nickelodeon franchise could be blasting back onto our TV screens soon: Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius!

In a Tweet, voice actor Debi Derryberry, the voice of Jimmy Neutron in both Nickelodeon Movies' Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius theatrical film and CG-animated spin-off television series, has revealed that some "really exciting news" about Jimmy Neutron will be announced "very soon!"

Although it's not actually unconfirmed that Jimmy Neutron is coming back for a new TV series or movie, Debi's Tweet was a reply to a fan asking Nickelodeon to revive Jimmy Neutron for a brand-new season.

Jimmy Neutron follows James "Jimmy" Isaac Neutron, Retroville's resident Boy Genius. Jimmy creates amazing inventions designed to make his life easier and more interesting--and when they work the way they're supposed to, they do just that! Which is rare. But for Jimmy, his robot dog Goddard and his pals Carl Wheezer (Rob Paulsen, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and Sheen Estevez (Jeffrey Garcia), every short circuit is a new adventure!

Created by John A. Davis and based on several Jimmy Neutron and Johnny Quasar shorts, Nickelodeon Movies, O Entertainment, DNA Productions and Paramount Pictures' Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius made its debut in theaters on December 21, 2001. Following its success, a spin-off series The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius premiered on July 20, 2002 and ran for 63 episodes over three seasons. The success of the film and TV series spawned another spin-off, Planet Sheen, as well as three crossovers with The Fairly OddParents under the name The Jimmy-Timmy Power Hour and a ride as Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius theme song by Bowling for Soup.

Nickelodeon’s vault holds some of the most iconic names in children’s entertainment, and the network is moving deliberately to resurrect select properties that resonate with today’s audiences, both on Nick’s networks and on third-party platforms. Last year’s Hey Arnold! special sent the Hillwood crew back to television, and an updated Blue’s Clues series is in the works, along with special events featuring fan favorites Rocko’s Modern Life and Invader Zim. Nickelodeon also recently revived its iconic '80s game show Double Dare for a whole new generation, and a Clarissa Explains It All reboot is also said to be in the works.

Kira Kosarin Calls Out Online Trolls Who Think She's Dumb Because Of Her Body Confidence

Kira Kosarin isn’t having it with the body shaming, and brain shaming, trolls online.

The actor - star of Nickelodeon's The Thundermans - and singer headed to social media to have a little rant about comments she sees about how being physically confident online automatically means you are not smart.

“People see me post bikini pics on IG and then are ~shocked~ to meet me and hear about my academic history, political involvement, and general intellectual curiosity and education,” she wrote on Twitter.

Kira adds, “When did being physically confident and having intellectual integrity become mutually exclusive???”

She has an amazing point! Just because Kira, or anyone else are showing off their body confidence, doesn’t mean they’re unintelligent at all. In fact, I’d say that’s quite the opposite!

iCarly's Nathan Kress And Wife London Elise Moore Welcome Baby Daughter

A huge congratulations to iCarly star Nathan Kress and his wife, London Elise Moore who have just welcomed their first baby together!

Rosie Carolyn Kress was born just before 4 p.m. on Thursday 21st December 2017, four days before Christmas, weighing in at 6 pounds, 6 ounces.

The actor revealed the news on Instagram on Friday evening, alongside a sweet photo of him cradling their swaddled newborn.

"'This is the start... This is your heart... This is the day you were born. This is the sun... these are your lungs... This is the day you were born. And I am always, always, always yours. Hallelujah, I'm cavin' in... hallelujah, I'm in love again,'" Nathan wrote, quoting lyrics from Switchfoot's 2009 song "Always."

Kress and Moore met on the set of Into the Storm, Kress's first major film appearance. The 25-year-old actor has worked steadily since iCarly came to a close, and even launched a directorial career, directing episodes of Nickelodeon's Henry Danger and Game Shakers, both of which are created by Dan Schneider, who also created iCarly. Earlier this year, Kress guest starred as himself on a episode of Game Shakers, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of iCarly.

Kress and Moore got engaged in May of 2015, then married in November in front of family and friends, including iCarly stars Miranda Cosgrove, Jennette McCurdy and Jerry Trainor. They first announced that they were expecting a child this past July.

In addition to Into the Storm, Moore has appeared in several big studio movies, including Insidious 3 and Need for Speed.

"2 times around the sun with someone who adds an incomprehensible light of her own to every day," Nathan wrote on Instagram. "It's amazing thinking about what has happened in such a short time—loads of ups, our fair share of downs, but nevertheless, an unstoppable partnership that only gets better as the months go by...I'm so ridiculously blessed to live life with someone who still makes this kind of giddiness happen, again and again. Happy Anniversary, Lon! Here's to all the rest of em :)"

"SO STUCK IN OUR HONEYMOON PHASE," London wrote on her own page, alongside a selfie showing the two wearing "Mr." and "Mrs." shirts. "Thank you for all the kind anniversary blessings and wishes to us, people! Y'all are rad."

Congratulations Nathan & London!!! :)
