We Are Teachers Partners with Nickelodeon and Rainforest Alliance for Rainforest Animal Flipbook, Learning Resources

We Are Teachers has teamed up with their friends at Nickelodeon and Rainforest Alliance to create a brand new fun and interactive Rainforest Animal Flipbook! This flipbook showcases the different levels of the rainforest and (best of all!) the interesting animals that live there.

Teaching about the rainforest always turns out to be one of the highlights of the school year. Students are especially fascinated by learning about all of the interesting animals, plants and ecosystems.

Students will love creating, customizing and exploring through their very own flipbook. Each page represents a layer of the rainforest (emergent layer, canopy layer, understory layer, and forest floor) and features interesting tidbits about the animals and plants native to each habitat.

What’s Inside?

In addition to the flipbook (which doubles as a coloring book!), the download includes a teacher guide as well as a student activity pack with engaging worksheets. These extended lessons will help students dig even deeper learning about the rainforest.

Watch students’ eyes get wide when they learn fun facts such as; The Goliath Birdeater Tarantula is the size of a dinner plate with its legs spread out? 😲 And yes… it earned its name because it’s so big that it can eat birds. (Cue the classroom gasp!)

Plus! A Limited-Time Offer From Nickelodeon!

Not only is this Rainforest Animal Flipbook free, but Nickelodeon are also offering classroom kits to 50 teachers who fill out this form and request the kit. The classroom kits include printed flipbooks and classroom supplies such as markers, crayons, scissors and more. Classroom kits will be prioritized by school needs and the date of request.

So don’t be a sloth! Hurry and request your free kit today at https://www.weareteachers.com/rainforest-animal-flipbook!

Teachers can also visit weareteachers.com to find classroom resources for teaching about rainforest animal habitats in grades K-5, including recommended books, activities, facts, easy tips and tricks on how kids can help save rainforests and how to talk to children about climate change, and much more. Teachers are also invited to sign up to be the first to know about more exciting Nick Help activities.

The partnership is part of Nickelodeon's Nick Help initiative. Nick Helps YOU help! Throughout the year, Nick Helps connects you with projects, ideas, and organizations that will help teachers and their students be champions for good.

ViacomCBS Australia Temporarily Closes Darlinghurst Office in Sydney Over Coronavirus Fears

ViacomCBS Australia and New Zealand has sent staff at its Darlinghurst office in Sydney home due to fears that people in their office may have been exposed to the coronavirus, following an employee’s potential exposure to the coronavirus. ViacomCBS' Darlinghurst office houses networks such as Nickelodeon and MTV. Sources have told The Australian Financial Review the decisions were made on Thursday 5th March 2020.

Network Ten in Pyrmont, which is owned by ViacomCBS following the merger of CBS and Viacom in December, has not been affected.

Both OMD and Foxtel Media offices closed late last week, reopening earlier this week in as a precautionary measure after exposure to a suspected case of coronavirus. Testing came back as negative and staff at both companies are back in the offices. The London office of OMD was also shut but has since reopened.

A ViacomCBS Networks Australia spokesman said the company has been informed about a possible exposure to the virus.

"This individual has not been diagnosed with the virus and is currently seeking medical advice," he said.

"The safety and well-being of staff is the company’s number one priority. Therefore, as a pre-caution, ViacomCBS has temporarily closed its Darlinghurst office and instructed all employees to work remotely until further information is available."

Update (18/3) - From AdNews:

ViacomCBS' tools and tips for working at home in Covid-19 lockdown

As the industry directs staff to work at home, keeping remote teams connected, cohesive and motivated is crucial.

One of the first to order work from home, ViacomCBS' office in Sydney's Darlinghurst - the base for about 120 employees working across the MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and Spike businesses - launched tools and policies to keep its remote workforce ticking.

"We utilised Microsoft Teams across MTV, Nickelodeon, Shared Services and management for video conferencing and messaging and we're piloting remote editing platforms to ensure content production work flows are not interrupted," a spokesperson says.

"All Monday morning stand up meetings shifted to video up format.

"Best practice guidelines were shared with all staff, they were upskilled on the use of video conferencing platforms and provided with 24/7 tech support.

"We encouraged all team members to utilise the `availability' function to set working hours (and, so, avoid being always ‘on’).

"There was a daily 9 am check in among sales team members – to set the agenda for the day, co-ordinate activity and actions, as well as create a sense of normalcy by starting the day seeing each other’s faces.

A dedicated COVID-19 resource portal is available on intranet, that includes tips and check lists for working remotely, resources on managing stress and anxiety, and updated health information.

"We also took our regular wellness sessions offered to staff virtual, working with vendors to provide video-based exercise, mindfulness and meditation classes.

"And we exploring ways to convert the regular Friday afternoon drinks trolley and raffle in to a virtual experience!"

"As a result of these measures, all linear television channels and digital and social platforms programmed out of the office are fully operational and have continued operation without interruption.

"Clients serviced by teams based in Darlinghurst include advertisers, distribution partners, music labels, production partners, promoters, licensees, retailers, and more."

Says Ben Richardson, SVP/GM of Pay Networks, ViacomCBS Networks Australia and New Zealand: “Staying focused on keeping staff healthy and safe is our number one priority, and we’ve seen remarkable adaptability by our team in response to shifting to a remote working environment.

"Staff have embraced the platforms we are providing to maintain productivity and keep a ‘business as usual’ approach, which is encouraging.”

Construction Restarts on the Construction of the World’s Largest Nickelodeon Indoor Theme Park in China

Plans have been approved for the construction of the third and fourth phases to commence for the Mall of China in the city of Chongqing, China!

Following inspection in accordance to the COVID-19 prevention requirements, the building of the Mall of China has finally been given the green light to commence once more.

The site is located in Konggang East Road, in the Yubei District of Chongqing City, China. The Nickelodeon indoor theme park is a mega-scale entertainment complex project, which integrates themed attractions, cinemas and catering facilities, covering an area of 108,500 sq. mt.

First announced in July 2018, the new Nickelodeon indoor theme park will occupy about 28,000 square meters (equivalent in size to nearly four football fields) in the center of the 468,000 square meters Mall of China (MOC) complex in Chongqing. The developers will invest over US$750 million in The Mall of China, which is part of a 2000 mu (about 1.34 square kilometers) mixed-use development, expected to also include a residential enclave of about 40,000 residential units, an international K-12 school and an international hospital. The total area will cost over US$4.2 billion to develop.

When completed, the park will be the largest Nickelodeon indoor theme park in the world.

“Creating immersive on-the-ground consumer experiences remains an important part of our business. As we continue to grow the footprint of Nickelodeon theme parks, I am confident this will also open up new opportunities for the Nickelodeon brand and for our partners across multiple platforms in this important Chinese market,” said Mark Whitehead, then President and Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Viacom International Media Networks. Whitehead has since left the company.

The park will showcase 14 of Nickelodeon’s most iconic properties like PAW Patrol, SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Dora the Explorer across 29 Nickelodeon-themed attractions, of which the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles launch coaster is anticipated to hold four world records for an indoor roller coaster ride – the longest track, the highest drop, the most number of inversions and the fastest maximum speed. It will also feature the first tilting drop tower attraction in Asia.

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with Jiayuan Group, China Creation Group and Triple Five to open Nickelodeon’s first indoor theme park in Asia as we continue to expand on our location based experiences across the world,” said Gerald Raines, Senior Vice President, Location Based Experiences for ViacomCBS Networks International (VCNI). “This is testament to the power of Nickelodeon and our iconic characters that fans, kids and families have come to love, which in turn, enables our ability to further boost the Nickelodeon entertainment experience for them.”

Work restarts on Nickelodeon's giant indoor theme park in China

Work has restarted on the Nickelodeon theme park, with developers given the green light to start work again on the US$750m (£647m, €688m) Mall of China development.

Work was suspended as a result of the coronavirus, however, plans for the construction of the third and fourth phases to resume were approved following an inspection ensuring COVID-19 prevention requirements were met.

Located in the Yubei District of Chongqing City, the Mall of China is being developed by Jiayuan Group, China Creation Group and Triple Five Group. Once completed it will be home to the world's largest Nickelodeon Indoor Theme Park, after developers announced a partnership with Nickelodeon owner, Viacom International Media Networks Asia Pacific, in 2018.

The 92,000sq ft (8,500sq m) park will feature 14 Nickelodeon IPs including Dora the Explorer, Sponge Bob Square Pants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Paw Patrol, and will feature 29 attractions, including Asia's first tilting drop tower attraction and an indoor coaster. Themed around the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the ride will break four world records for indoor coasters, including highest drop, most inversions, longest track and fastest maximum speed.

The park was originally slated for a December 2020 opening, however, will most likely be delayed due to the disruption in construction.

"Nickelodeon's wide recognition in China will be instrumental to the success of the Mall of China in attracting families of all ages from across the country to dine, shop and play at our project," said Linda Dong, president of China Creation.

"Our partnership with Nickelodeon is also a key component to our ability to deliver a world-class theme park product to compete in this fast-growing industry."
