Aaron J. Waltke Reveals Whether Hologram Janeway Still Loves Coffee on 'Star Trek: Prodigy'

In honor of National Coffee Day, Aaron J. Waltke, a producer and writer for Nickelodeon's upcoming CG-animated Star Trek series, Star Trek: Prodigy, revealed whether the Emergency Training Hologram version of Janeway on Prodigy had the same close relationship with the caffeinated beverage as she did in Star Trek: Voyager, and whether it was integral it is to her programming.

Taking to Twitter, Waltke revealed: "Coffee drinking is one of Hologram Janeway’s personality subroutines — if removed, her entire holomatrix will destabilize. Turns out it’s essential to keeping her memory engrams intact. #StarTrek #StarTrekProdigy #NationalCoffeeDay".

In additional Prodigy news, it turns out that The Diviner may not be so scary after all - in real life, anyway.

Last month actor John Noble was revealed to be playing The Diviner, the primary villain in Prodigy. Late week, co-star Rylee Alazraqui (Rok-Tahk) shared a cute photo with the veteran actor, noting “The Diviner isn’t SO bad.”

Beyond the Summit Mainstage to Host 'Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl' Tournament

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players have been anxiously awaiting the release of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl

The Melee-inspired game features a colorful cast of Nickelodeon characters from the '90s right up until today. But the real reason Smash fans are excited for the October 5 release is that the developers - Ludosity and Fair Play Labs - actually care about the competitive scene. And the game is about to get its first test.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is coming to Mainstage. Mainstage is Beyond the Summit's Smash Major. For three days, competitors will compete to secure one of the six qualifier spots for Smash Summit 12 in December as well as Ultimate Summit 4 in March. Attendees will also have the chance to compete in the first-ever announced Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl tournament.

Taking place on November 12, The Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will be a singles tournament with up to 256 competitors. According to a followup tweet from BTS, the tournament will be using the Nintendo Switch version of the game. Registration is currently open at http://bts.gg/mainstage.

The event will be a great opportunity to see high-level competition, learning new metas, tricks, and exploits from fighting game pros.

The biggest reason Smash fans are excited to see Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl at Mainstage is due to Nintendo's lack of support for eSports. With terrible online play, a disdain for fan-made mods of older titles, and no prize money or tournament organizing, Nintendo clearly has no interest in the competitive scene.

Meanwhile, Ludosity has been very open about their passion for competitive fighting games beyond including wavedash. This has made many dub Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl as the "Smash killer." With better online support and the promise of more competitive support, it's possible that the game may replace Smash at big events like EVO in the near future.  Of course, this is all speculation. For now, the game will have its first official competitive showing at Mainstage, bringing Smash fans together for a fun showcase.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is released Oct. 5 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X!

Fighting Game Pros To Battle It Out In Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Tournament

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is wasting no time at all breaking into competitive play.

The team behind Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl hasn't been shy about their aspirations for the fighting game. From the get-go, it was always meant to be played competitively, and now it will be on the day of launch itself.

That's right - I hope the competitors are fast learners, because the first tournament is set for October 5, this Tuesday. Super Smash Bros. stars such as Mew2King, PPMD and Fumblynn will participate in the event, and it will be live on the official Nickelodeon Twitch channel, twitch.tv/nickelodeon.

Details are scarce on who else will be involved, and what prize is up for grabs, but the announcement reads as follows:

The official Nickelodeon Twitch Channel is throwing an invitational tournament, “Nicktoon Throwdown Invitational” in honor of the new game Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, starting Tuesday, October 5 through Saturday, October 9. In this weeklong event, eight of the top esports champions, including Mew2King, PPMD, and Fumblynn will compete in thrilling exhibition matches for a grand prize.

Round 1 will take place over Oct. 5th - 6th, with the semi-finals taking place Oct 7th - 8th and the finals on Oct. 9. Each round will start at 5:00 p.m. ET/2:00 p.m. PT.

It's unsurprising to see Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl hit the ground running like this. As previously reported, developer Ludocity is really leaning into the competitive fighting game scene, saying: "Nickelodeon is absolutely on board with having the game be competitively viable. That’s been in the conversation from the start. That’s why they came to us". Indeed, Ludocity's past work includes Slap City, another game with Smash Bros. inspirations.

Not only that, but the game will use rollback netcode in its online play, on some platforms at least. This is seen as the superior way to play fighting games online, to the point where many in the fighting game community are frustrated that Nintendo doesn't use it. Notoriously, both Smash Bros 4 and Ultimate's online play is less than stellar, so many were excited to see this unassuming child-friendly fighter fill the gap.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl launches across PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC this Tuesday (Oct 5). Pre-order now for a discount. On the same day, you can watch pros fight for the top spot on Twitch. For more on the game, head here: https://nickelodeonallstarbrawl.com/

However, the Danger Force aren't the only ones returning! As the first promo for the new season teases, the new four-part episode will feature the return of two dastardly villains from Swellview's gallery of rogues - Drex Stinklebaum (Tommy Walker) and Rick Twitler (David Blue) - as well as an old ally - Henry Hart / Kid Danger (Jace Norman)!

Danger Force season two premieres Saturday, October 23 on Nickelodeon!

Who do you think the mystery superhero is?! Sound off in the comments!

A spin-off from Henry Danger, the series premiered in 2020 and follows the students of Swellview Academy for the Gifted (SW.A.G. for short), a school conceived by Captain Man and brought to life by Schwoz (Michael D. Cohen), as they continue to learn how to fight crime and to harness their frequently troublesome and sometimes uncontrollable superpowers they gained during the finale of Henry Danger. Chapa (Havan Flores), Miles (Terrence Little Gardenhigh), Mika (Dana Heath) and Bose (Luca Luhan) must keep their real identities a secret from both from their families and the villains who are out to destroy them. New 'It's Pony' Halloween Special Announced

A brand new It's Pony Halloween special has been revealed!

Titled "Raiders of the Lost Cinema," in the 30-minute season two episode, Annie decides this is the Halloween her and her friends will find the legendary, abandoned movie theater, with an entire snack counter filled with untouched candy.

The all new It's Pony is set to premiere on Nickelodeon Australia & New Zealand on Sunday 10th October 2021 at 4:00pm AEST. A U.S. airdate for the new episode has yet to be announced, however, as Nick USA is quite behind airing It's Pony, it may be a while before it airs.

"Raiders of the Lost Cinema" is the second Halloween-themed It's Pony episode, following season one's "Scarecrow", and is also the second full-length episode of the show. The first was the Christmas holiday special, "Bramley Holiday".
