Netflix's 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Series Will Use Music From The Original Show's Soundtrack

Avatar: The Last Airbender composer Takeshi Furukawa suggests the live-action Netflix adaptation will use parts of the original series' soundtrack.


A big announcement has arrived for Netflix's upcoming live-action adaptation of Nickelodeon’s beloved Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series.

Composer Takeshi Furukawa revealed the soundtrack for the Netflix series will include music from the animated show. Furukawa took to Instagram to announce that he would be joining the production team to oversee the musical scoring. "I am truly humbled to receive stewardship of the incredible musical world and themes from the original series." His stewardship of the music will see him recycle the sounds of the animated series with a new orchestration for this upcoming adaptation.


Avatar: The Last Airbender’s original music was composed by Jeremy Zuckerman, a Daytime Emmy Award winner who also created the soundtrack for the follow-up series The Legend of Korra. Zuckerman was not asked to be involved in the live-action adaptation. This will not be Furukawa’s first notable credit as he recently served as series composer on the comedy Mythic Quest and helped to create the music in the video game The Last Guardian.

Netflix has not yet announced a release date for Avatar: The Last Airbender.

'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Adult Gaang Movie Reportedly Adds 'Star Trek: Discovery' Writer

Avatar Studios' adult Gaang film, featuring the return of Avatar: The Last Airbender's heroic team, adds Star Trek: Discovery writer Kenneth Lin.


A new report suggests Avatar Studios' upcoming feature film, centered on the star team of Avatar: The Last Airbender, has added Star Trek: Discovery's screenwriter to its crew.

According to scooper Daniel Richtman, as reported by Avatar News, award-winning screenwriter and playwright Kenneth Lin, known for Star Trek: Discovery and Netflix's House of Cards, will pen the screenplay for the adult Gaang film, which does not yet have an official title.

Recent reports suggest the upcoming film may be titled Echoes and Aftershocks or Hidden Kingdom. The former was seemingly revealed after a Paramount Animation production accountant listed the title on one of their social media pages. However, it should be noted that neither Paramount, Nickelodeon nor Avatar Studios have confirmed the title of the film.

Details concerning the film are scarce, especially when it comes to plot and cast details, though previous reports suggest actor Dante Basco will reprise his role as the formerly exiled Prince Zuko. Once again, Basco himself has not confirmed whether or not he will return and neither has Paramount or Avatar Studios.

What audiences do know is that the film will be animated by Flying Bark Productions, the team behind Nickelodeon's Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Disney+'s anthology series, What If...?. In an announcement, Director of production Alexia Gates-Foale stated, "Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra are two of the most iconic animated series of our time and we are simply thrilled to play a part in bringing this new story to life... With a company full of creatives and super fans, the Avatar feature is a dream project for the team at Flying Bark."

It has been announced that the movie is currently slated to be released on October 10th, 2025.

The Legacy of Avatar: The Last Airbender's Gaang

By the end of "Book 3: Fire" of the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series, the Gaang, also known as Team Avatar, was shown to be comprised of Avatar Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Zuko, Suki and, of course, Appa and Momo-- a collection of friends and unlikely allies the original trio made across their journey around the Four Nations.

Avatar Studios was established as a division of Nickelodeon dedicated to the iconic fantasy franchise. The studio is headed by series co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino, who previously teased the team had decades worth of stories to tell and a variety of projects to expand the unique fantasy world. Speaking on the official podcast, Avatar: Braving the Elements, DiMartino explained, "We're overseeing the whole franchise, so it's going to take a while before new stuff starts percolating out there." They added that a "very ambitious, multi-tiered" plan for the franchise, tapping into the rich history and future of the Avatar world.

First-Ever PAW Patrol Fest to Take Place in Qatar in March 2023

PAW Patrol is on a roll in Qatar this March! This exciting and unique interactive PUP-TACULAR event is brought to you by EventBox in partnership with Qatar Tourism (QT) and Nickelodeon.


Families can enjoy the celebration of the globally loved PAW Patrol franchise, created by Spin Master Entertainment, right in Doha.

PAW Patrol Festival, which will be staged for the first time in a fully immersive manner, invites festivalgoers to unleash their inner hero and step into Adventure Bay with this all-new experience. For the first time ever, this PUP-TACULAR event combines all the best that PAW Patrol has to offer: stage shows, kids’ and family activities, meet and greet with the PUPS, photo opportunities and much more, all under one roof.

To be held at Place Vendôme over a purpose-built 3,000-square metre space, the lively festival will run from March 2 to March 18, 2023, with three sessions daily on weekdays at 3:15pm, 4:45pm and 6:15pm and four sessions on weekends - Friday and Saturday extra session at 1:15pm.

Commenting on the festival, Sheikha Hessa Al Thani, head of Marketing and Planning at Qatar Tourism, said: “This interactive, action-packed festival is a first in PAW Patrol history, and at Qatar Tourism we are honoured to have helped make this happen. A fitting tribute to such a universally loved franchise, PAW Patrol Festival will be a banner addition to the back-to-back schedule of varied, family-friendly events we have planned throughout the country this year.”

The hit animated preschool series, PAW Patrol, stars seven heroic rescue pups - Chase, Marshall, Rocky, Rubble, Zuma, Skye and Everest - who are led by a tech-savvy boy named Ryder. Together, they work hard to protect the Adventure Bay community believing no job is too big, no pup is too small! The series features a curriculum that focuses on citizenship, social skills and problem-solving.

Swathes of interactive and educational games will be on offer for PUP-loving ticketholders. Be it learning the rules of road safety with Chase, helping Zuma to rescue animals, fighting the fire with Marshall, flying like Skye, recycling with Rocky or seeing your drawings come to life on a screen in the augmented reality (AR) colouring workshop, attendees will find plenty of engaging challenges and activities.

There will also be various themed play areas, including the Pup Park for the little ones. Designed to replicate the park where the Paw Patrol Pups play in the series, the famous Lookout Tower will let kids live out their wildest imaginations by sliding down and embarking on their latest rescue mission.
Little fans will have the opportunity to meet Paw Patrol’s Chase and Marshall after each show and take photos with some of the show’s most popular stars.

Themed photo opportunities and features will be available throughout the venue for guests to grab the perfect picture to remember this fun experience, including an AR photo display, where a digital Pup will pop up onto the camera screen when pointed at a 3D ‘Paw Patrol’ sign.

Festival-goers will have their pick of bites, from on-the-go snacks that can be picked up at snack carts, to refreshments that can be found at the themed, Porter’s Café, where seating is available.

There’s even a shop where visitors can get the official Paw Patrol collection and a kids’ beauty salon, Katie’s Pet Parlour, for children to relax in Pup-tacular style.

A mobile app for the event will be available to download at the event with features such as an interactive map, schedules, AR photo opportunities, AR treasure hunt game as well as coupons and other promotional materials.
