Marcus Stroman Once Won $100 on Nickelodeon's 'Figure It Out'
Nickelodeon's hit '90s game show Figure It Out always had at least one world-class athlete on the show thanks to host and Olympic gold medalist Summer Sanders, but one episode was also graced with another Major League talent, although he was more of a little leaguer at the time.
Former Toronto Blue Jays ace Marcus Stroman was chosen out of the audience at age 6 for a chance to win $100 worth of Geoffrey Dollars from Toys "R" Us.
The popular show originally ran between 1997-1999, was one of the network’s most popular shows, having a panel of network stars try and guess hidden talents of its young contestants.
During breaks between rounds the show would give away prizes to members of the audience, sometimes from random selections. The hilarious unearthed video, unearthed by the Mets Twitter fan account @Metsthrowbacks just hours after it was announced that the Long Island native and baseball ace would be returning to New York, features Stroman as a child being announced as the winner of a $100 Toys "R" Us gift card.
Stroman won the big prize, thanks to Amanda Bynes (All That, The Amanda Show) and Weinerville’s Marc Weiner (Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego, Go!, Dora and Friends: Into the City) both performing the “secret slime action.” The starter pulled in over $500,000 last year, but none of that money was anywhere near as exciting as those sweet, slime-covered Geoffrey Dollars.
In the video, Stroman, who would be around 6 years old at the time of recording, can be seen next to next dad, Swole Poppa Stroman, grinning, standing up and clapping, doing a couple fist pumps in the same animated way he has notoriously replicated on the field as an MLB player.
The 28-year-old from Medford, NY was one of the biggest names on the Major League Baseball trading block, linked to contenders the likes of the Yankees, Astros, and Red Sox, but no one had predicted the floundering Mets, five games under. 500 and six games out of the second Wild Card spot, to make a power move for the 2019 All-Star.
Marcus Stroman isn't the only child who made it big after appearing on Figure It Out: Country singer/songwriter Hunter Hayes also appeared as a contestant on the show in 1998!

Nickelodeon Brazil to Search for Master of Slime in New Game Show 'Nick Master Slime'
Nickelodeon Brazil (Brasil) is searching for Brazil's Slime Master in Nick Master Slime, a brand-new game show, premiering on Nickelodeon Brasil on Friday 16th August 2019 at 16:30!
Aligned with the Slime Fever that has gripped kids for the past couple of years, Nickelodeon, widely regarded as the inventor of authentic slime, Nick Master Slime is the first reality show dedicated to finding the best Slime Master in Brazil. A 100% Brazilian production, the reality show will be hosted by teen actor, singer and YouTuber João Guilherme, and will feature a team of judges who are experts on the subject of slime.
Set in a Slime Lab, throughout the series, Nick Master Slime will see six contestants aged between 9-12 years old take on fun and challenging challenges in pursuit of the title of Master Slime, using a variety of ingredients to use and mix into the slime needed to win.
In each episode, a different challenge must be completed by the contestants against the clock. The performances of each participant will be evaluated by the judges and YouTubers, who have PhD's when it comes to slime: Sofia Furlani, Luluca and Carol Teixeira.
Sofia Furlani (@sofiasfurlanioficial) is 12 years old and from Santa Catarina. A slime specialist, the YouTuber (/sofiasfurlani) has already amassed 2.5 million subscribers to her channel; Luluca (@luluca_oficial) is 10 years old and from São Paulo. The YouTuber (/crescendocomluluca) creates vlogs about a variety of different subjects, including slime, and has already amassed 5.5 million subscribers to her channel; Carol Teixeira (@diariodacarol05) is a 13 years old actor from Rio. The YouTuber (/diariodacarol05) vlogs about slime and music, with her channel boasting 3.2 million subscribers.
Some of the challenges competitors will face throughout the show are: 'Fixing the Worst Slime in the World', 'Edible Slime', 'Slime by Telepathy', 'Mysterious Slime Roulette', 'Giant Slime Ostentation' and, in the Grand Final, 'Pause Challenge'.
Nickelodeon Brasil will air two new episodes of Nick Master Slime a week, every Friday and Saturday at 16:30, starting Friday 16th August 2019. Each Friday episode will be a non-knockout episode. In the non-knockout episodes, one of the contestants will gain an advantage to assist them in the next challenge.
In additional to their linear broadcasts, viewers will be able to watch episodes of Nick Master Slime on mundonick.com.br, the Nick Play app, and on the official Nickelodeon Brasil YouTube channel.

Fenômeno com o público infantojuvenil na internet, o slime (gosma feita em casa) vai ser foco de um novo reality show, o Nick Master Slime. As performances de cada um serão avaliadas pelas juradas e youtubers especialistas em slime: Sofia Furlani, Luluca e Carol Teixeira. As três somadas ultrapassam 11 milhões de seguidores no YouTube.
Já os seis competidores têm entre 9 e 12 anos, e já dão seus primeiros passos no mundo dos influenciadores digitais.
A Nickelodeon decidiu produzir um reality nacional sobre slimes pois tem experiência no assunto: uma das marcas do canal é dar banho de slime verde durante seus grandes eventos.
Nomes como Tatá Werneck, Larissa Manoela e Maisa Silva já saíram cobertas de gosma do Meus Prêmios Nick. Nos Estados Unidos, Tom Cruise, Justin Bieber, Will Smith, Katy Perry e Justin Timberlake tomaram banho de slime verde, enquanto a cantora Pink recebeu jatos da meleca rosa.
O Nick Master Slime tem estreia confirmada para 16 de agosto, às 16h30, com dois episódios inéditos por semana, toda sexta e sábado, na Nickelodeon, no site Mundo Nick, no aplicativo Nick Play e no canal oficial da Nickelodeon no YouTube.

Um novo reality show dedicado às crianças irá premiar o melhor fabricante de slime entre os competidores do ‘Nick Master Slime’. A cada episódio, Igor Wehner, Julia Moraes, Mei Goya, Nicolly Madeira, Pietro Bianchini e Rafael Faria, todos com idades entre 9 e 12 anos, irão se enfrentar em desafios melequentos. As performances serão avaliadas pelas juradas e youtubers Sofia Furlani, Luluca e Carol Teixeira.

O programa, apresentado pelo fenômeno teen João Guilherme, tem estreia prevista para 16 de agosto, às 16h30, no canal de televisão Nickelodeon, no site Mundo Nick, aplicativo Nick Play ou ainda pelo YouTube. Serão exibidos dois episódios inéditos por semana, toda sexta e sábado, sendo o primeiro não-eliminatório e o segundo, sim. Nos episódios não-eliminatórios, um dos competidores ganha uma vantagem para ajudá-lo no próximo desafio.
Os competidores irão receber ingredientes diversos para cumprir um desafio diferente. Entre as provas estão: 'Consertando a Pior Slime do Mundo', 'Slime Comestível', 'Slime por Telepatia', 'Roleta Misteriosa de Slime', 'Slime Gigante Ostentação' e, na grande final, 'Desafio do Pause'.
