Two separate competitions were awarded Thursday (June 6, 2019) night in a joint ceremony: Global Excellence and North America. The first competition recognizes outstanding achievement from the leading media companies on every continent; The latter competition celebrates marketing and design teams in the United States and Canada. The Promax Awards 2019 ceremony was hosted by Penny & Sparrow at the JW Marriott at L.A. LIVE.
The ceremony is the culmination of the Promax Conference 2019, the annual summit where the world’s leading media companies and agencies gather for three days of cutting edge insights, strategy, creativity and professional development.
Winners are chosen in a two-step process: an initial round of online peer judging by Promax members and the Board of Directors determines the finalists, while a second round of juries convened in Los Angeles and New York selects the winners.
This year, for the first time ever, jurors from Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America convened in New York for a Global Excellence Awards jury. Representing Nickelodeon on the jury was Michael Waldron.
A full list of 2019 Promax Award winners can be found at https://www.promax.org.

Nickelodeon Launches New AR App 'Screens Up'
Nickelodeon is launching a brand-new augmented-reality (AR) app that will let kids see slime, blimps, SpongeBob, and other special effects specially timed with the network's programming!
The free Screens Up app, which launches for iOS and Android devices today (Tuesday 17th July 2018), will add slime and special effects to Friday's Kids’ Choice Sports 2018 awards show. During the broadcast, which starts at 8 p.m. (ET/PT), kids will be prompted by their TVs to use the app, in which they can vote on the outcome and affect the show, play trivia, polls, games all synced to the broadcast, and unlock fun AR stickers.
Nickelodeon says the app will allow kids to keep playing with some of the augmented-reality effects and games after the broadcast. Other scheduled events may also make use of Nickelodeon's app on a to-be-announced basis.
The App stems from a cross-continent collaboration between Nickelodeon and four agencies/tech partners located in three countries: Monterosa, The Mill, eyecandylab, and We Are Royale. The app represents a commitment to AR technology by Nickelodeon, and continued innovation in engaging the audience and expanding IP.
SCREENS UP by Nickelodeon is available to download for free today via the Apple iTunes App Store for iOS devices and Google Play for Android devices.
Nickelodeon's Screens Up app is the latest entertainment-based augmented-reality app. In April, Nickelodeon launched the Do Not Touch AR app, which features interactive surprises and mini games that highlight both Nickelodeon properties and iconic trademarks, like SpongeBob SquarePants, The Loud House, slime and the Kids’ Choice Awards blimp, along with original animations, and introduced a AR mode on the network's hit game app Sky Whale.
In addition to AR experiences, Nickelodeon is also developing virtual reality experiences. At Comic-Con International: San Diego 2018, select fans have the opportunity to interact with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Live,” a virtual reality experience that immerses users in the Turtles’ iconic New York City world and allows them to have a conversation with Mikey or Donnie—voiced live on the scene by Brandon Mychal Smith and Josh Brener, respectively. More details will be available soon for this off-site opportunity. The “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Live” experience is created by Nickelodeon’s Entertainment Lab, the network’s division that spearheads research and development efforts around new technologies such as virtual reality, mixed-reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence for Nick and its audience. Nickelodeon’s Entertainment Lab debuted Slime Zone, its first social virtual reality experience at IMAX VR centres globally in 2018, and recently announced a financial investment in Dreamscape Immersive, the location-based VR startup, whereby both entities have committed to produce an experience using Nick’s IP for kids and families.

How It Works:

- Tune into that program on the Nickelodeon channel in your local area
- Download the SCREENS UP app and have it open while watching the show
- When prompted, activate the camera icon and lift your “screen up” to the TV
- Watch, interact, play with some awesome moments synced to your TV!
- Play with our AR Stickers and games between TV moments!
- When using the app without TV, you can still play with the AR Stickers and Mini-games!
The SCREENS UP app by Nickelodeon was specifically designed to work on as many devices as possible so the largest section of our audience could participate.
Use of this app is subject to the Nickelodeon End User License Agreement.

NBA Star Chris Paul on Hosting the 2018 Kids' Choice Sports Awards and His Other Hollywood Ventures [Updated]
The Houston Rockets point guard previews Friday's awards show, reveals the advice he got from previous host Michael Strahan and opens up about being a role model to kids.
Houston Rockets point guard Chris Paul has shown he can dominate on the NBA hardwood, but as he takes the mantle of host for Nickelodeon's fifth annual Kids’ Choice Sports awards on Thursday, the nine-time All-Star is in a different mindset: Just have fun.
“It’s been a lot of fun. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Paul told The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday.
This will mark Paul's first time hosting an awards show on TV. The show, taping Thursday at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica and airing Friday at 8:00pm ET/PT across the Nickelodeon network in the US, is an opportunity for Paul to step into the shoes of former hosts Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and NFL legend Michael Strahan and be a role model for kids out there who one day want to be out on the court just like him.
And Paul likes that responsibility. He is the father of two children, son Chris Paul II and daughter Camryn. His children are a big part of his life, even accompanying him during his NBA press conferences and State Farm commercials. It’s a part of him outside of basketball that makes him excited about the road ahead.
“The biggest thing is that I understand is: the way my kids look up to different people like [for example] my son and Cristiano Ronaldo. The way he looks at [Lionel] Messi because he loves soccer,” Paul said. “It really lets you know that there may be kids that look at you the same way. Even though I want those other guys to live their life and enjoy their life, I know from being their parent what it’s like when their eyes light up when they see them on TV. Now if that happens for me with a kid out there I want to make sure i’m doing the right things.”
Before Friday’s show, Paul took some time to talk about what advice he got on how to host the Kids' Choice Sports Awards. He also spoke about his Hollywood ventures, which include working with the upcoming documentary Crossroads and voicing a character in the upcoming Scooby-Doo cartoon series.
THR reporter Omar Sanchez: I heard you got advice from your kids. What have they been telling you while you prepare for the show?
Chris Paul: They kept asking me if i was going to get slimed. They asked me if they can slide down [the slime slide]. My kids, they just want to be involved they want to be around
Your kids are a big part of your life. So what was their reaction when they first heard you were going to host?
They started telling me about all the shows they watch on Nickelodeon. My daughter was telling me about Paw Patrol. They started talking about SpongeBob. My son actually watches the new Double Dare now. It’s been a lot of fun. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
You’re lending your voice to a cartoon. What is that like being in a show that your kids can watch?
I enjoy doing all that stuff. Since I had kids, I go to the movies. I watch all the movies that they see. Having the opportunity to do the commercials at State Farm. Being around and get an opportunity to meet all these people. I felt voice-over is something I can do also in season. When you do that you don’t actually have to be on set and act. You can go to a studio and just do it.
With LeBron James heading to L.A. to join the Lakers and possibly working more with his production company, I wanted to ask what other ventures you’re looking into in Hollywood?
I have a production company and we’re working on a few different projects. We have a project coming out soon called Crossroads. It’s about a lacrosse team back home in North Carolina and some of the things they went through. I’m always trying to get into different avenues.
How involved were you with the project?
Very involved. We’re having a screening for it in North Carolina next month. Also with different projects coming up that I’m interested in with my team, we’re always trying to tell stories. I feel like I’ve been telling my story for 14 years now so I sort of know how to do it.
Back to the KCSA, Russell Wilson has been a past host. Any advice you got from him on how to host?
Not from him, but I talked to [Michael] Strahan. He’s a really good friend of mine and he’s hosted before. The biggest thing he said was just have fun. Today when I finally got a chance to get here and see the setting and the energy of it all, I think it’ll be fine.
Funny enough, Kids’ Choice is known for their slime, but there's this craze with kids now to make their own slime at home. Have you had to deal with the mess?
Oh yeah. My daughter especially. At the store you can buy the ingredients for slime. Now I don’t know whose idea that was but it doesn’t suit well for my household (laughs).

Original Nickelodeon USA Press Release:
Share it: @DanicaPatrick @Nickelodeon #KidsChoiceSports @CP3
BURBANK, Calif.– June 12, 2018–Professional racecar driver Danica Patrick has been chosen by Nickelodeon to receive the Legend Award at this year’s Kids’ Choice Sports 2018, the summer’s slimiest, surprise-filled sports showdown for kids. Patrick, who became the first female winner in IndyCar Series history, will receive the award in recognition of her trailblazer achievements and outstanding sportsmanship on and off the racetrack. Kids’ Choice Sports 2018 is hosted by Chris Paul and airs Saturday, July 21, at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.
Said Patrick, “It’s such an honor to receive the Kids’ Choice Sports Legend Award from Nickelodeon. I decided when I was 10 years old I wanted to be a racecar driver. I dreamed big, believed in myself, worked hard, took chances and made the most of every opportunity. Today, I’m honored to be a positive influence on kids and encourage them to stay true to themselves and what they believe in; keep dreaming big and working hard. Bring on the gold slime!”
Top nods for the fifth annual show were also announced today as female athletes Alex Morgan, Chloe Kim, Jamie Anderson, and Mikaela Shiffrin all scored three noms each. First-time superstar athletes receiving nominations include: Lonzo Ball, Danny Amendola, Nick Foles, Alex and Maia Shibutani, Allisha Gray, Aaron Judge and Adam Rippon. Additional competitors vying for coveted blimps include: Lindsey Vonn, Cristiano Ronaldo, Venus Williams, Katie Ledecky, Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, Rob Gronkowski and Von Miller.
