Over 4,000 Children And Their Families Attend Nickelodeon’s Nickfest In Lagos

Nigeria - Federal Palace Hotel witnessed an incredible fun-filled experience at the second edition of Nickelodeon's family festival NickFest Nigeria on the 29th and 30th September. The event which had over 4,000 kids in attendance is one that attendees will not forget in a hurry!

Hosted by the very friendly and hilarious duo of IK Osakioduwa and Nigeria’s Got Talent winner Amarachi the event was all shades of fun as kids were excited seeing their favourite animated Nickelodeon’s superstar characters live such as SpongeBob Squarepants, Adventure Bay’s intrepid pups, Skye, Rubble Marshall and Chase from Paw Patrol, the energetic Dora the Explorer with her animal rescuer cousin, Diego and her best pal, Boots to everyone’s favourite genies, Shimmer and Shine and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The two-day extravaganza kids event, was a blend of loads of fun and good music from Africa’s adored A-list music acts such as MI, Simi, Adekunle Gold and Mayorkun who satisfactorily entertained the children, parents and fun lovers with some of their family-friendly songs which of course got the whole venue in an endless sing-along. Nickfest’s Host, Ik Osakioduwa, co-hosts Amarachi and Mannie from Cool fm as well as other celebrities in attendance, got slimed several times over to raise awareness and funds for indigent Children’s Trust project.

They all slithered around and bathed in thousands of litres of gloriously gooey slime in the legendary slime zone. The venue was transformed into a beautiful wonderland for the kids with amazing toys, fun game and activities, and plenty of colour, notably Nickelodeon's traditional bright orange which helped achieve a beautiful, fun-friendly and relaxing ambience.

Speaking at the venue of the event, Alex Okosi, Executive Vice President (EVP) and Managing Director (MD) VIMN Africa, owners of Nickelodeon, said: “Over the years, Nickelodeon has entertained families world over. The biggest family-centric event, Nickfest 2018, recorded huge success, as children and parents were treated to non-stop entertainment. The event, which was organised by Nickelodeon in partnership with premium malt drink, Maltina took place over the weekend at the Balmoral Events Center, Federal Palace, Victoria Island, and was full of fun and so much happiness.
The partnership played a part in delivering fun-filled experiences to families in consonance with Maltina’s commitment to ‘Share Happiness’ with various age groups. Following the success of the maiden edition in 2017, the 2-day event provided a very rare avenue for the brand to interact with its teeming consumers and fans.

Commenting on the success of the event, Senior Brand Manager, Maltina, Omotunde Adenusi said; “This is indeed an exciting partnership for Maltina. Children were able to reenact their fantasies as the event featured some of Nickelodeon’s superstar characters in brand new shows including Dora the Explorer along with her animal rescuer cousin, Diego and Dora’s best pal, Boots; SpongeBob Squarepants; Shimmer and Shine; and Paw Patrol’s – Ryder, Chase, Marshall, Rubble, and Sky. Also this year, Happy the Maltina mascot took centre stage at the Maltina Happy Land at NickFest, and for the first time ever he performed his very own show to the delight of kids and parents.

Music lovers were not left out as leading artists in the industry including Mi Abaga, Simi, Mayorkun and Adekunle Gold thrilled and entertained families at the event with electrifying performances. Maltina lived up to its “Share happiness” mantra by putting smiles on the faces of some families at the Maltina Happy Land at Nickfest through exciting giveaways.

The event hosted 4,000 families with everyone present having a wonderful experience. Nigerian talented music artist, Mayorkun, delighting the audience with his hit songs on Saturday.

Nickelodeon’s annual family festival was lit yesterday as Nigerian talented rapper, M.I. Abaga and singer, Mayorkun treat children and their families to some of their favourite hit songs.

The duo performed live on stage to the enthusiasm of families who trooped the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos – venue of the event.

The kids who were delighted also engaged the singers in a sing-along pattern alongside their excited parents.

The event, which had in attendance children of all ages and their parents, also had favourite Nickelodeon characters performed live at the festival.

Among those that performed are the energetic Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob SquarePants, Adventure Bay’s intrepid pups, Skye, Rubble Marshall and Chase from Paw Patrol with her animal rescuer cousin, Diego and her best pal, Boots, Shimmer and Shine as well as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Hosted by celebrity On-Air Personality (OAP), Ik Osakioduwa and Nigeria’s Got Talent maiden edition winner, Amarachi, the audience savoured every moment of performances with happiness.

Similarly, the slime challenge, a favourite section at the festival saw different celebrities like Sensei Uche get doused with gooey green Slime.
